1. GC: Now you will have before you the body of [154] who is at ..., Va. You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body. You will speak distinctly at a normal rate of speech, answering the questions as I ask them.

2. EC: [After repeating suggestion in an undertone] Yes, we have the body here, [154]. The conditions physically, as we find with this body, are rather acute. The causes of the conditions are hidden, as it were, in that as has been builded in the nerve impulses of the system proper, especially as related to those connections between the solar plexus center and the hypogastric and pneumogastric plexus, until there is - as it were - a wall about same in their associations one with another, as prevents any reaction BETWEEN the two. Hence, in the gradual losing of impulse or ability for the contraction, or for involuntary reaction through any of the system - whether related to that of locomotion or muscular contraction - and unless there is a halting of this wall, as it were, that is being builded in that plasm as makes for cystic forces in the system, these must eventually contact and prevent the movement of the voluntary and involuntary functioning of the organs themselves, just as the condition has - and IS gradually affecting the functionings of the sensory system; so that the vision, the speech, the auditory forces, are gradually losing their ability to respond to external forces.

3. The cause of these conditions, as we find, is the stoppage of drainages in the system as related to used forces from all centers as related to solar plexus, and to the hypogastric (or the lumbar) and the pneumogastric (the cervical plexuses), so that incoordination is the result. A condition as might first be termed a neurotic or neuritis condition, to be sure, for the effect is the inactivity of

NERVE IMPULSE in system.

4. In the present low state, unless a drainage - or a condition may be established between those of the lymph impulses in system as carry or bring to those centers those constant encasings, as it were, and these caused to throw OFF FROM the system, or into the channels of elimination, these must be that of a separation in the physical and spiritual forces.

5. These, as we find, offer the better channel for this establishing of a drainage:

6. Apply to the solar plexus center a heavy pack of saturated solution of Epsom Salts.

7. Apply to those of the hypogastric and pneumogastric plexus those of IODINE, with SALT as an agent for driving same INTO those centers that are governed by same - so that there is added in the lymph of the system that of an IMPULSE to drain - INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY.

8. In an OSTEOPATHIC manner, RELAX the cerebrospinal system to aid in the drainages.

9. These we would do.

10. Ready for questions.

11. (Q) Has whiskey - the use of same - anything to do with the condition, and would it be good for him now? (A) This has added TO the condition, and may be - by some - termed the cause; but the CAUSE is those walls in the system forming about the nerve plexus centers, as in all cases of nephritis, neuritis, or such conditions - WHERE they are NOT caused by infectious pressure IN the system. This is produced, or produces such a condition - and is the plasm or the lymph itself forming about plexus - nerve plexus or ganglions - preventing their functioning. Hence a pressure in one portion of a center may cause a hindrance of activity in an extremity when the SOURCE of same is found in an umbilicus plexus, or in those of the solar plexus (which the umbilicus is a portion of), or from the hypogastric or pneumogastric. These are the conditions. The use of alcohol, or whiskey, in the PRESENT condition, WHEN drainages are BEGUN, would be helpful; NOT in the present condition in setting up the drainages; neither is narcotics for the easing of the condition aiding, save as to remove or relieve immediate suffering - see? Apply heavy packs of Epsom Salts in the SOLAR plexus center, on the spinal region, see? This kept as hot as the body can stand, for at least an hour; in the SAME period - but those centers in the pneumogastric AND hypogastric plexus - with iodine, and apply the hot SALT packs (this in a bag, see?).

154-1 Page 3

The Epsom Salts would be of a saturated solution pack. THIS, as we find, would BEGIN drainages. Then, as the drainages are begun within, there must be the proper eliminations as to RELIEVE these drosses. This is the hope, as we find, for the body.

12. (Q) How often should these packs be applied for an hour at a time? (A) Apply first and see the reaction! then the other may be applied within twenty-four to forty-eight hours, AGAIN - see?

13. (Q) How often osteopathic treatments? (A) At least twice each day; not a deep manipulation until the DRAINAGES are set up - for, the lymph pumps, as it were, for the respiratory system, much may be thrown out in this manner - see? for we open there the channels, then, of the eliminations, see? These must be made to coordinate, would we save the forces and the strength of the body. As it is, it is gradually waning.

14. (Q) Would Swedish massage be good for the body? (A) Be good for the body WHEN the body is able to stand it! It isn't able to stand it as yet! Not with its general declining!

15. (Q) What nourishment should be given? (A) A stimuli to all the active forces of the system, NOT suppressing to the heart's action - for this must be kept as near normal as possible. For stimuli in food values, those that sustain most vitality in system. Those of milk, of malted milk or dry milk; those of the lesser heavy cereals; those of the citrus fruit juices. These, as we find, would be the better in the next applications as have been outlined.

16. (Q) Should any meat be given? (A) The JUICE of beef may be given as STRENGTHENING, but not the meat itself - no! Just the meat JUICE - not broth - but the JUICE, and THAT given in very small quantities.

17. (Q) Should he attempt to sit up? (A) Not as yet; not until after we have gained or set up some of the drainages for the system to rid the system of the poisons.

18. (Q) What should be done to cause the body to rest, as he doesn't sleep? (A) With the drainages set up, we will find this will be a different state of condition. Because that the nerves themselves are relaxed, so that there is no STAMINA in the sinew or muscular forces does not mean that the cerebrospinal centers, or that the body itself, IS relaxed!

154-1 Page 4

Drainages, and removal of pressures throughout the nervous system, will make for a relaxation and for better sleep. Do as we have outlined. BEGIN! Let's TRY something!
