1. [165]: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [165], present in this room, and his business associations and relations. Also his connection and place in the Association of National Investigators. You will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding these.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body and enquiring mind, [165], and the business associations and relations. These in many different relations we have had before. Many of these relations in the business way and manner as have been given have pointed out for the body those conditions arising in many spheres and many relations, and may be applied in many others. Ready for questions.
3. (Q) What shall I do to adequately contribute to the financial needs of the Association? [Work:EC] (A) As has been indicated, through those relations of the body and entity toward the purport, intent and purpose of the Association, that the body at this time may contribute more adequately through the influence of others to their interest in the efforts of Association, than would be made by dollars and cents in many OTHERS; for there are many needs to the work attempted, and that portion of interesting those who see, know, and will feel the bigness, the intent to which this may be an educational factor in the lives of so many, through THIS channel may the body, the entity, contribute in the greater sense and manner, and through these channels will come a great deal of FINANCIAL support necessary; the character, the kind, the calibre of the peoples as well. Do that.
4. (Q) Am I advancing my auditor C. V. Zeller too rapidly? (A) No.
5. (Q) Has [5616] grown more dependable? (A) In this sense and in this direction much has been intimated that has not been put in words, and the body [165]
165-5 Page 2
has had that influence in the emanations that have gone through [5616], as it were, to the extent that the advancement and the dependability of the body has gone far. Of course, as has been given and intimated, this needs some nursing, as it were, as yet; but the abilities and the growth has begun. More responsibility, provided this is not too great at once, will still aid in this direction.
6. (Q) Shall I make a business hook-up with Spencer? (A) This, again, has been touched upon before. This very good, as has been indicated. Some policies, some trainings that Spencer has had, are not wholly in keeping with the policies of [165] and associates. This should be made very clear to Spencer, that the abilities of Spencer and that distributed through his efforts must speak for themselves.
7. (Q) Where can [165] find a man that will make good as an assistant superintendent and satisfy Louis Francis of Carolina Wood Products Company? (A) Richmond is the appealing place, we find, and through some of the connections there, there may be obtained one satisfactory, and one that will prove beneficial and helpful in many ways.
8. (Q) Will the quality of Bradley's products suffice for getting Carolina Wood Products business? (A) Provided there is used the full product in the manner as would be designated by [165]; but mixtures would not suffice.
9. (Q) Should [165] accompany his lacquer expert to Asheville to demonstrate their finished to Carolina Wood Products? (A) By all means! It would be well to do this, for then they may take it or leave it - and bear the consequences.
10. (Q) Is it to their advantage to take it or leave it? (A) Take it!
11. (Q) How long should expert remain in Asheville? (A) Sufficient length of time to give the full demonstration of the finish! That's all that's necessary!
12. (Q) When should they go to Asheville? (A) To meet the need of conditions in Asheville, the sooner the better!
13. (Q) Why has [165] been unable to do business with Mr. Francis? (A) This condition, as we see, has been covered before, and those conditions surrounding same has been given. These have not changed materially, though the INCENTIVES from Francis' activities through the changes taking place may make a vast difference, through demonstrations at this time.
14. (Q) Does Ben Francis understand the carrying out of instructions on finishes? (A) Well; and these would be carried out, were they (or the
165-5 Page 3
body) given the authority or power to carry same out.
15. (Q) Is Ben Francis properly trained to be the director of finishing of the Carolina Wood Products? (A) In TRAINING, yes. As a finished product himself, not complete.
16. (Q) Who prevents Ben Francis from carrying out instructions on finishes? (A) Those furnishing the finish!
17. (Q) Where can he get additional help as foreman? (A) As has been given, the most satisfactory, as we find, would be through Richmond.
18. (Q) How does Ben Francis become unable to carry out instructions? (A) Through the efforts of the supply people. In the manner, as has been indicated, that through the supply people there has been that which necessitates the use of those products as supplied by them, see? and the combinations of these have prevented the proper finishes coming through. Hence, as there has been given, there may be added properties that, with the USE of the elements or conditions in finishes and lacquers, there may be added properties that would overcome this condition. With the correct carrying out of instructions, with a direct - or builded from the plain wood to the FINISH, this would be a different element to add.
19. (Q) Would it more expensive than at present? (A) Consider the conditions existent at present. Is it more expensive to disappoint those the work is being prepared for, and have the worry of those necessary re-finishes? or spend a small amount at FIRST and have no kicks? Answer in self!
20. (Q) Has complaint been due entirely to the finish? (A) To finish.
21. (Q) Can factories satisfy customers by eliminating the open pores? (A) By the proper finish from the base up, yes. That's eliminating open pores, to be sure, for through these various conditions, as has been given, as respecting the kilning, or the kiln dry, and the effect upon same and the finishes from base up, these are the conditions causing dissatisfaction in finish.
22. (Q) Would it be better to double fill the wood? (A) Dependent upon the finish to be applied. Most lacquers, most of the products, are BETTERED by double filler.
23. (Q) Should wax free shellac or ordinary shellac be used over filler? (A) Wax free.
165-5 Page 4
24. (Q) What causes orange peel on a lacquer finish? (A) Improper filling of wood.
25. (Q) What causes the pores on the under side of the lid? (A) This produced by the lack of the application of the finish in proper order.
26. (Q) Is there a good substitute for steel wool? (A) We don't find it at present. We may work out one here.
27. (Q) What form would it be apt to take? (A) That of fibrous nature.
28. (Q) A vegetable - (A) A vegetable fibrous nature.
29. (Q) What country would the fibres come from? (A) Mexico or Peru.
30. (Q) Is it in commercial form at present? (A) Apparently we find same being prepared. We are going fast over these! It seems it is being prepared for such. Yes, there are some isles, too, from which the fibres is being taken. This is being worked out, see? And this will take the place and give a much better finish. [12/15/28 See 254-47, Par. 29-A in re progress in developing steel wool substitute.] We will get to this later.
31. (Q) Is it better for [257] and [270] and [165], or [900], [270] and [165], to do the Association work in Chicago? [Work:EC] (A) We would take [165], [270] and [257].
32. (Q) Is it worth while for me to investigate the ancient ruins in Mexico? (A) Much may be developed from these, AS HAS BEEN GIVEN. Now we find MANY things that are in keeping with that as has been given as respecting the association of these with many things associated with those as are connected with these surroundings here. As seen, both in Mexico, New Mexico, Peru, and parts of Arizona, these are of a civilization collaborating that from which the foundations of the present are being built on. Hence many collaborations and many coordinating things may be brought to light through these - research! This should be a portion of the Association's work, and followed out with same through these channels AGAIN we find others may be brought into a contact with that being worked out, as this is a portion of the work. RESEARCH in its greater extent, and the applying of same to those conditions present. This should be part of the work, and would be well to be added to same, as has been given to [165] to interest those that are of various fields that would bring much moneys, financial aid, and greater in the educational end of that being attempted.
33. (Q) Is it advisable for me to purchase stocks on the
165-5 Page 5
market in order to make money? (A) That must be determined within self. There is, as seen, in the inner characteristics or basic force of the individual, that adverse to such conditions, save under certain circumstances or conditions. Hence this should be determined within self. There may be information given that would assist in these lines, but there are also these chances that changes occur, which at SOME times are not satisfactory. Hence these determinations should be within self's own abilities of APPLYING THAT as is obtained! See?
34. (Q) What immediate stock could be purchased to help the institutional work? (A) West Indies (Preferred) or Sears-Roebuck (Industrials).
35. (Q) When should Sears-Roebuck be sold? (A) It should never lap over two to three weeks.
36. (Q) Beginning when? (A) At the next break.
37. (Q) When should West Indies be sold? (A) This for a long rise - three to five weeks.
38. (Q) Is there any stock for a quick move? (A) Quick moves is quick loss! Yes, there are some we will find quick moves in. These will especially be with DuPont interests, and with B.R.T.'s.
39. (Q) How long should they be held? (A) Not over two days.
40. (Q) Should my institution sell more Preferred Stock? (A) For the addition of the expansions, yes.
41. (Q) What else can I do right away for the Association? (A) Just keep on interesting others that may COME financially to the needs of the institution at present.
42. (Q) When should [257] come to Chicago on Association matters? [Work:EC] (A) Whenever it may be arranged by [165] and [270].
43. (Q) When is Mr. Cayce coming to Chicago? (A) This, as we find, will be in November or early December.
44. (Q) What course should Cayce take? [See 254-43 on 8/4/28, Par. 4-A, 5-A in regard to taking course in x-ray at Western Electric.] (A) Depends upon that which he is to be fitted for! In this instance, for that of the Radiograph, or X-Ray. This should be the feature for the work, for this - as has been given - has its place.
45. (Q) How can I be helpful in this? (A) By arranging any of the meetings or associations that would be made during such a period or sojourn.
46. (Q) How can we get to Mr. [953]?
165-5 Page 6
(A) Through Cayce!
47. (Q) Should readings be taken in Chicago? (A) Toward the latter part of the course, yes.
48. (Q) Who should go from Virginia Beach? (A) Those that are NECESSARY for the operation of same, which include the three as surround the phenomena itself. [Edgar Cayce, Gertrude Cayce, Gladys Davis.]
49. That's all of the questions.
50. Now much may be said as respecting the Association and [165]'s association with same; for, as has been seen and given, those being gathered together for the definite work of propagating the ideas and ideals as may be developed through the Hospital of the Association of National Investigators, were at the BEGINNING or the first period [See 165-2] in that of the Egyptian forces. [165] acted as the keynote, or offering the first unselfish act for all those concerned, even when troublesome times arose by the activities of the peoples subdued by the entity coming into the country, and by the development of the correlating of ideas of the wise man of [165]'s court and of the then Urian [?] court, or Egyptian court. These, then, are to be brought about by the proper cooperation of individuals as were gathered about those efforts put forth at that time. This, naturally, falls upon [165] in many respects; yet these differences in the positions of power as held at that period and as indicated in the Association in the present, have their relative force of activity; yet this, as seen, has much to do with present conditions. How to assist these, then, becomes the questions - and, as has been outlined and given here, [165]'s position being, then, the bringing about of the cooperation and coordination of efforts put forth. We are through for the present.
