Time of Reading 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Ill. (Body and enquiring mind - questions regarding business associations and relations.)

1. EC: Yes, we have the enquiring mind, [165]. This we have had before. Also the associations and relations in business of the body, those in action and those contemplated, for these are different, and are those that give the mental forces of the body the greater concern. Ready for questions.

2. (Q) Will there be a general summer or fall slump in the stock market? (A) This may only be given relatively with any certainty, for these conditions may change materially; for the mind of individuals are individual, and while the trend in any one direction may be very certain and stable today, the individual or individual groups may so change in their intent and purpose as to make all such prognostication of little avail. As at present, there has been indications of a summer slump, yet the actualities have been a constant increase in certain directions, nominally those in the industrial fields. While those of some specific lines have met losses, the indications as exist at present that there will not be a general slump until late summer or early fall. This, however, may be materially changed. As has been indicated, the criterion for the next quarter - yea, for the next six months - the rails may be used as a criterion, rather than steel or oil, but the industrials OFFER the greater opportunity in speculation, whether for buying or for selling, and using then the rail as criterion even these, themselves, may offer opportunities, yet some individuals may make inroads in ones that would attempt to corner, in a measure, or to CONTROL at least the affairs of any one rail.

3. (Q) What stocks will go down and prove profitable investments if purchased then? (A) As has been indicated, such stocks as are of the industrial class, that the basis of operations offer a sound

165-7 Page 2

condition. These on breaks or declines, then, will offer an opportunity for anyone. These, however, should not be dealt in, in such a manner as to be WHOLLY a speculation; that is, do not over buy that the body would not be able to hedge well on any bad change.

4. (Q) When should such purchases be made? (A) On the breaks!

5. (Q) What is the substitute for steel wool heretofore referred to? [See 165-5 on 8/27/28 & 254-47, Par. 29-A on 12/15/28.] (A) This not ready yet for development, but is of the fibrous products and awaits the development of a force or a CARRIER to be developed with same. Carrier, in that sense, meaning that to be worked with such. We will give these in time. Don't be too anxious!

6. (Q) In Health Light Rooms will the best practice use carbon arc or mercury vapor lamps? (A) These are two entirely different fields, and should ever be considered so. The mercury lamps are in one field, and are for those that offer the better elements for conditions of the nerve systems of the body; while the carbon will offer the greater developments for those that will aid deeper conditions and those that affect the structural portion of a body. These should be taken into consideration. In the development of the mercury lamps, the mercury quartz light that floods a room will be the better to develop. While in the carbon, this will offer a different basis - and here may it be added, that where carbon is used in a near vacuum, were the residue of the combustion produced, or the ash from combustion be saved, it will prove to be the by-product that is even more valuable than MANY treatments for certain conditions. Any element that is an abrasion to the epidermis may be healed by such - see? Those even where they have been in such a condition as to be impossible under other circumstances to be healed, used with the mercury light and the carbon ash will respond to such treatments. Then, in considering these, and in considering developments of light treatments and light rooms, consider both - and consider ESPECIALLY THIS by-product. Carbon, burned with a core and with a solid, produce - in the partial vacuum in which burned - an ash. This the ash referred to. We find then, this the product. The carbon in its normalcy, or as reduced, to be used as the carrier, and the oxygen of the air in combination with the other elements of the air, creating then an entirely different element, that is so purified, and clarified, that the carbon and oxygen is absorbed in HUMAN body when applied to same? That is this ash, see? Scrofula, or sores,

165-7 Page 3

eczema, tubercular conditions - exterior tubercular conditions of bone, where carbon light and the mercury and carbon ash used, would respond to such treatments. Any condition of the blood that produces abrasions on body; as measles, fever of certain natures, would respond - even the ash when burned and quantities taken internally would be even more VALUABLE than when water treated by radium, or treated by any of the elements that act in the form of the eliminators of a human body. A great field here, worth developing, and will prove PHENOMENAL in its success.

7. (Q) Will a different type lamp be developed from either carbon arc or mercury vapor lamp? (A) As outlined here, these will both soon have their place in the development, and should both be considered.

8. (Q) Will ultra violet or infra red rays predominate? (A) Ultra violet and infra red - one comes from the one, the other from the other. Both have their place in the treatments for various conditions in mankind. The highest vibration as is set off in a human body, are the infra - or even a higher ray than the infra red; is even of a higher vibration than the ultra violet, which is the more penetrating, yet the infra red is not as destructive to tissues that involve the portions of the body, such as the covering of bone structure itself. Thence, as may be seen easily from this, where conditions are of such nature that the blood supply in a body is in such a condition, or such elements enter into the blood stream as where injury to the outer or inner covering of the bone itself, these would prove detrimental - BUT where the conditions are such that these need to be penetrated, these become helpful, in the infra red and in the violet ray. These work on the same principle, as has been given as respecting the application of universal forces to recuperative forces or elements in the body; or the body is an illustration of elements as are in outside influences. Then, conditions as we are treating of are as those effective directly to the body. Now, we find in man's force, no one is able to find a voice, or even a sight. That with which each is accomplished in the human system may be located, but HOW it produces same in man and doesn't produce same in lower animals has NEVER been discovered! and it'll be a good long time before it will! The variation is that vibration as is created between what is known as that of the purely MENTAL forces as active with a body in the variation between the sympathetic and the cerebrospinal nervous system, and as coordinates with that known as the SENSORY system, which we find then gives hearing, sight, feeling; merely a differentiation in

165-7 Page 4

vibrations created in system. In lights, the ultra-violet and infra-red, merely a differentiation in vibrations as are created. Each acting in a DIFFERENT capacity to the vibration as is accorded in the system. Do not get from this that these will be GOOD for EVERYTHING, but they will be good for SOMETHING to EVERY body! [GD's note: See 165-17, Par. 42-A saying that the Burdick mercury quartz (ultra-violet ray) stand lamp is "the best so far".]

9. (Q) What would be the result of an association among ourselves and medium sized competitors for safe-guarding raw material situation? (A) This rather a large condition, even for consideration - while the possibilities are enormous for each associate in such an undertaking. This would be from the material standpoint, for each one so associated, a real worth while proposition, but the varied interests are such that this should be well considered before such an undertaking was put into action; yet this may be made plausible, feasible, and worth while. All those in the same field of endeavor, even though that field in which each manufacture is in a different DIRECTION, yet the raw MATERIALS are that from which each manufacturer or group is to draw from. Then, to be able to control same, by the use and by the manner in which each would draw from same, would certainly be made, or could be made, worth while. Worth studying. Worth considering. Hardly the propitious time at present, but should be kept in mind.

10. (Q) Should Denny-Hilborn & Rosenbach of Philadelphia be included? (A) Many of these may be included. Not hardly time to include ANYONE until these in their individual capacities have been well grounded in the undertaking. Now, to APPROACH these, that such may be made plausible or possible, would not be the thing at the present time. Study the situation well before even such an undertaking is even given other than thought to.

11. (Q) In approaching decorative work in our New York office, is the approach through architects or interior decorators? (A) Interior decorators, rather than the architects; for few real architects know MUCH of decoration, yet they THINK they know most! but these are NOT to be COMBINED with these conditions as may be approached. The interior decorators, then, and this should not require other than the personal approach in a one, two, or three man approach; that is, showing what may be accomplished by the PRODUCTS, and what is being worked out by those that are working in a field for such decorators.

12. (Q) Does this entail general advertising?

165-7 Page 5

(A) This has just been given.

13. (Q) Is our best approach to Victor Company through Stain, Filler or Lacquer or all of them? (A) Through the lacquer, for this a very definite reason. First, there has just been given that lacquers should be the predominating field of the endeavors of this association, or this group. Next, the lacquer finishings and the lacquer developments are almost in their infancy, as to what will be accomplished, even for the Victor people and every other one that finishes such cabinets; for soon this, with the development of the sound forces, ought to be made a part of each other - for again we come to vibrations. To be sure, as this field is worked out, so will come the stains and fillers, but the lacquer field is the one to approach through, and much will be accomplished in this field, as we see.

14. (Q) Can our designing service be of assistance there? (A) To be sure. This is indicated in what has just been given, as to how they are to be helpful in the finishes as to be accomplished with this particular firm.

15. (Q) Advice is desired regarding the Detroit field in our line and our new sales representative there, Mr. Fast. (A) That's a good word with the conditions, isn't it? As has been intimated and shown, this field offers rather a tough proposition at the present stage of the game, as we would give it in such phrases, were they permissible - but little advice may be given yet, just in this particular line, until there has been some effort made in a material way, and in a real mental way. Then we may aid farther along not just at present.

16. (Q) In order to increase our business, how can our customer [[5540] ... Co.] increase their business with Sears-Roebuck? (A) This should not be hard to be accomplished. The natural output of these are great, and these need be only made more desirable by the individuals; or spend just a stipulated amount for the national advertising of the products, or assist the channel to place before the housewife and others the gain by the owning of such products. See? That doesn't entail a GREAT amount of money - not a great amount of money, for this will show results in its proper way and manner. Do not "shoot" all over and expect it to get very much. Make it in certain sections. Begin in certain sections, or certain fields, and work each field in its Proper way and manner. The household magazine [The Household Magazine?], too, of course, being the better, but let these be in their own particular field, see?

17. (Q) Have we sufficient chance to land the business of

165-7 Page 6

the Hoosier Manufacturing Company for [5616] to continue to work With them? (A) They have!

18. (Q) Are we working through the proper individuals with the Kelvinator Company, Leonard division? (A) Very good, and this should be able to accomplish that desired.

19. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Mrs. [1381] " " Ass'n file
