1. EC: Yes, we have the enquiring mind, [165], and those conditions as surround the body, [165] & [5616] Company, conditions, associations and surroundings. Many of these we have had before. Ready for questions.
2. (Q) Will I be able at once to find some one who will lend me personally $15,000, giving as security $60,000 worth of [165] & [5616] Stock, book value $100 a share, and $5,000 piece of Suburban Chicago Real Estate, repaying loan $5,000 per year, paying 7% interest on same? (A) The body should personally present the situation and the conditions to the Chairman of the Board of the bank the body has been associated with, and whom the body has done BUSINESS with - and through this channel the body will be able to negotiate the loan in time to take care of the conditions that are necessary to be met at this time. While there will be required at first that which will, in a manner, appear as drastic change in the affairs of the [165] & [5616] Company, yet these may be straightened out, and an equitable agreement and understanding arrived at; for, as has been seen, as may be pointed out, there are those conditions existent which JUSTIFY such a loan, such an understanding, and these - presented in the proper manner - will enable the body, personally, to negotiate same. While there may be other sources through which this might be negotiated, this would at the present entail conditions and matters that would prevent the body from making some changes in the affairs of self and relationships that the body will DESIRE to make a little later on. Go, then, through these channels, and THIS will be handled. Do not allow self to become OVER anxious, nor let the worry of the matter endanger the future possibilities in the business associations, nor in the relations that have been and are the REAL purpose of the body-mind.
3. (Q) Is it advisable that I save money by stopping visits to Virginia Beach? [Work:EC] Also to Carolina Wood Products?

(A) As to these, they be separate and distinct propositions. Why - when the body is at the point of consummating the deal of furnishing materials to the Carolina Wood Products - STOP, at THIS stage of the developments? THAT would be, as WE find, rather unwise to do. As for the visits to Virginia Beach, this a different condition - for the intent, the purports as entail the efforts as are being exercised by the body fill more of that as is most developing for the body-mental being. THAT the body must weigh MOST for itself. Is the purpose as is being fostered, the attempts, as being made - wherein the body lends selfs abilities and influence, rather than so MUCH FINANCIAL - why SHOULD this be stricken off when it fills the life, the intent, in such a way and manner - UNLESS these be not in keeping with the purpose in reality to the body?
4. (Q) Should I sell my stock in East Coast Trading Company, for which I paid $3,000, and pocket the loss but get the use of the cash obtained? [Via [900] & [137] Brothers.] (A) This, again, the body must determine in self. While there seems the necessity for economic reasons, for such a loss to be taken, why may not this be turned into the channel through which GAIN may be had financially, rather than loss? for the outlook, the future of the Coast, presents an income in the present year, rather than a loss. This, however, may be best determined by the character of the negotiations as may be made for the LOAN as sought.
5. (Q) Should I give up my holding in Virginia Beach land on which $1,000 is due next month and pocket the loss of what I have paid in? (A) This ALSO presents just the same character of conditions. With the development as is known by the body that must ensue from activities in the given surroundings, will increase the value of the holdings. This, again, should depend upon the ability of the body to handle or negotiate the conditions as surround same. This, AGAIN, would be UNWISE, just WHEN there is the opportunity for turning same into profit, rather than into a loss. This may be handled through the same sources from which the body OBTAINED same, at a PROFIT, should the body STILL desire to RELEASE self from the liability.
6. (Q) Is the First National Bank of Chicago the proper one for [165] & [5616] to bank with? (A) Because there has arisen misunderstandings between some of the Board and the body, is no reason that hasty action should be taken as regarding the situation. This, as given, handled personally - through those channels as outlined -

will produce a DIFFERENT situation. Not that this would be handled in a manner as to cause or to produce antagonism in any direction, yet the whole matter may be ironed out to the satisfaction of all, and THIS is a WONDERFUL channel for the body to work through. The CORRECT, then - if handled properly. If the antagonism CONTINUES, then CHANGE to one of the other institutions - as the Exchange, or of the City bank, or of one of the other institutions in the same district.
7. (Q) Will we suffer financial loss through Rex Co.. of Connersville, Indiana? (A) In part, but this - as we find - may be even turned into the channel for the gaining of OTHER accounts that will be even more satisfactory. There are also, in this district, some whom it would be well for the body to consider as making personal confidants of, for assistance in the conditions financially that the company finds self in. There has been given the body information concerning how that there were some who had and did attempt to HAMPER the body's activities in a meeting of the Board of [165] & [5616]. [165] is able to still hold the control through same, but lost some strength and some MOVING abilities of financing by some conditions that arose from that meeting. Now, these, through personal contacts - NOT as of boastful, not as holding the whip hand, but rather as offering opportunities for cooperative endeavors in the various fields that must open WITH the new outlook on business conditions in general, and on THIS line particularly, in the early summer.
8. (Q) Are we making proper arrangements with Doehler Furniture Company of New York City? (A) These are very good, and may be turned into channels that will prove very effective in some ways and efficient in others.
9. (Q) Should my daughter, [...], remain at University of Michigan or be taken out to save money? (A) This should be determined, again, in the mind of the body - for do not so act as to be CONDEMNING in self for the opportunities as may be offered one who should LEAN upon the body FOR that as it may attain or acquire through the mental and physical efforts of the body.
10. (Q) Please outline the financial situation of myself and my firm for the next six months. (A) This is as has been done, in the variations as have been shown by the character of contacts, the variations in the outlook for the business year, as is related to general and as to this business in particular.
