Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.
1. GC: You will have before you [165] who is at the ... Hotel, ..., New York City, Room ..., and the information received through this channel on May 29, June 17th and June 28th, 1937, relative to plans for school for boys. You will answer the questions he has prepared on the subject, as I ask them.
2. EC: Yes, we have the enquiring mind, [165]; this we have had before. Also the information that has been given regarding the activities necessary for the launching and carrying on of boys' school - definite purposes.
3. As we find, in the present, there is little or no condemnation of the activities thus far. There may have been (which will be determined by the general outcome, owing to purposes) some bad decisions made relative to individual association or activity.
4. Conditions of the moment do not always need to supersede that which would be eventually in keeping with the purposes and aims of an active body in relation to constructive forces.
5. These are not myths nor merely sayings, but if analyzed in the mind of the body will be better understood.
6. We would, through channels as may be opened for the body in some not AS political circles but THROUGH political circles, continue to interest - or try and interest - Seabury, and through the channel as would be opened we would find we would have closer access to the DuPont interests that would (through the natural associations that may be brought about, though it may take time - so work at it!) bring same to the attention of those in power politically at present, who are interested in ventures or activities of this particular nature.
7. As for the present choice of the site, or opening of same: [On Mrs. [1438]'s estate.]
8. As we find, if there is the proper consideration - and this means some very diplomatic undertakings on the part of
165-25 Page 2
[165], but - if there is the assistance of [1430] taken as an assistant organizer, these may lead to the better channels for the present.
9. Also the assistance of [1437] in not only interesting others but assisting in a portion of the activities for the furtherance of the necessary funds - as through [1430] and the necessary funds for activity in the present.
10. These as we find offer the better channels in the present.
11. Do not so act or so jeopardize, by the activities in the present, the interests that may be included in the O'Reilly or Reilly site - but the others offer in the present, for the opening, the better opportunity; but diplomatically (You are somewhat of a diplomat!) handle the situations with these. [Harold J. Reilly, Sun Air Farm, Oak Ridge, N.J.]
12. Ready for questions.
13. (Q) Wherein has entity failed to prepare himself to meet the conditions that will make for success in this undertaking? (A) As has been indicated, we do not find a failure. No condemnation. Merely because the time appears short, finances appear shorter, these make for a "jittery" feeling; and emergencies have been such as to allow the entity to become overanxious and make concessions in some instances not so well - but continue along the lines indicated.
14. (Q) What added efforts should be put forth to contact aid through Judge Seabury and through him the DuPonts? (A) Just as has been indicated, there are now - as has been given - two channels; some seem hopeless, yes - but arouse that interest in the ways as has been indicated.
15. (Q) Through whom in political circles should I attempt contacts? (A) Seek those through whom there are close, or have been close, associations. There would be some seeking, some activities in these, and these will bring not only on added zest and interest in the attempts but open doors and ways and channels that will be helpful in the interim as well as in the long run.
16. (Q) How has the entity fallen down in his methods of contacting boys and parents? (A) We do not find fault, as has been given, but overanxiety rather. It is working! Keep AT IT! But open the way for more!
17. (Q) How best can the next three weeks be made to produce the needed financial backing and pupil registrations? (A) As has been indicated.
18. (Q) Will Mr. [1437] be able to persuade his friends to finance boys in the school? (A) As we find to an extent, yes. Some disappointments, to
165-25 Page 3
be sure, but in a way yes; sufficient as we find to make at least a start.
19. (Q) Will we be able to finance the employment of Prof. [317] by the school this year? (A) We do not find this as the most plausible. There are those interests that have been promised, and the activities of [317] are such that it is not well under the existent circumstances for this present period. But none better may be had for a working out of that being attempted - next season.
20. (Q) What are the relative merits of the [[1438] estate] and Land O'Reilly [H. J. Reilly's Sun Air Farm, Oak Ridge, N.J.] as location for the school? (A) As has been indicated.
21. (Q) Does the statement that Beauty Parlor Equipment had best be let alone include the Hand Treating Machine now brought to a completion? (A) This is very well to be used, provided it does not so divide the interests as to jeopardize the best interests of the undertakings. It seems wise that this should be considered in the present. Do not let these interest jeopardize those of the school and its activity.
22. (Q) How can entity assist in solving the problems at [1438]'s estate, if at all? (A) These have been pointed out in those things necessary for the interesting of those that are responsible for the activities there - through [1430]. [See 1430-1, Par. 48-A, 8/25/37.]
23. (Q) Please advise me regarding the interview I had with [900] regarding East Coast Trading Stock and his offer to pay me $30 for the stock for which I paid him $3,000. [See 900-446 on 7/13/29.] (A) Little or nothing can be done under the existent circumstances. Either accept or reject. We do not find a great deal more than that offered. [See 165-9, Par. 3-A on 7/27/29.]
24. (Q) Any further advice regarding the school? (A) Keep AT IT!
