Time of Reading 7:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time.
1. MB: You will have before you the Board of the Association of National Investigators, which is seated here in this room - individually and as a body. You will answer the questions that I will ask you that the Board seeks, that it may be better advised and guided in this work of the Association. Before ending the reading, we - the Board - then ask the blessing - your blessing - in our work - this, your work.
2. EC: Yes, we have those conditions as confront the members of the Board as gathered here, with those problems as naturally present themselves at such a time. We also have the problems of those that will be interested, and who were of the Board, and who will be interested with same in and through the proper channels at the proper time and period. Well that those now labor in same carry on, that there may be the foundation laid of the work to be accomplished in and through the Association; for into thy hands has been committed the keeping of those records - yes, those conditions that are as records - of the foundation of that upon which the better understanding of man's relation to the all creative energy within self may be made manifest in the earth's plane at this period. Keep that committed unto thy keeping against that day when there will be said, "Well Done", according to that as enacted in this present experience. With the coming of the dawn many will call thee blessed. Ready for questions.
3. (Q) Where would be the best to locate the garage? (A) On that portion where it is most accessible for the service it is to render for the institution. Then, on the northwest corner.
4. (Q) Would it be well for Edgar Cayce to take the steps necessary to attain the degree given out for X-Ray work? (A) Well from many standpoints, that it would bring to the public in a sense, provided same is not mis-representented

nor mis-understood. Would the effort be expended in that of the satisfying of others in questions, then well. Would it be used as criterions, not so. For that as weighed in the balance is not found wanting when meted with those of greater vision; for that of the material is material; while that of the spiritual is true. Then this may be considered from MANY viewpoints. For the welfare of all concerned materially the step SHOULD be taken.
5. (Q) Would it be best in New York, or where? (A) Wherever such courses may be attained, and dependent upon the character of degree desired. All NECESSARY, that of the knowledge of the operation of the machine. Should come through the western electric [Western Electric Co., Inc.?] operative forces. [8/27/28 See 165-5, Par. 43-A, 44-A in re EC trip to Chicago and course in x-ray, etc.]
6. (Q) Who would be the best lawyer to act for the Association? Willard Ashburn has been suggested. (A) Willard Ashburn capable, and would be well to consider for the present. Well, in considering same, that some diplomacy be used. Use the influence of others of the same fraternity (lawyers) to interest Ashburn in same. Then the Association would be the gainer in physical, moral, and political ways. There are many that are members that are POWERS in this field, but that necessary is the local representative. Then bring pressure - or KNOWLEDGE rather than pressure - to bear on the individual, through those channels. Such as is seen in those in the South, the West, the East. Do that. Be politic ONCE - watch the results!
7. (Q) Would a letter from Hammerling help? or just who? (A) Look over the list! See those that are furnished, and where, and the positions they hold!
8. (Q) How shall the Board raise the necessary funds to supply money to pay salaries and the immediate overhead of the Association? (A) Dig in! and BEGIN. With the beginning, as has ever been - and will be - will be that sufficient for the care or needs. For "The silver and the gold is mine", saith the Lord, and "I will recompense him who would serve in that that would make thine brother nearer to that understanding of the relationship of man to man and man to the Maker".
9. (Q) Who on the Board should be the correct one to approach [165] and [953] to interest them to a greater extent right now, and what phases should be presented to them? (A) To [165], the educational. To [953], the fellowship and cooperative. Both of these present the peculiar phase of situations. Both will fly off at a tangent - but cannot stay away. To understand them will be to understand the

greater populace. [900] should seek counsel first, and advice second, from these concerning how to handle. Not dictate; but counsel and advice. In that manner there may be found the cooperation that will assist much in this direction, for both present a different group, class or mass, but the INDIVIDUAL must be one, or better shown their relation and the necessity of their cooperation with that being done.
10. We are through.
