1. GC: You will have before you the psychic work of Edgar Cayce and its presentation through the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., together with the various individuals and groups interested in furthering this work. You will advise us regarding the proper continuance of bringing light and help to others through the spreading of this work through the various channels open to us. You will answer questions regarding any phase of the activities.
2. EC: Yes, we have the work, those individuals who are interested in the furthering of the work; and its various phases of help and enlightenment that may come to others through same, as well as the groups and their various problems and conditions.
3. In considering the work, the presentation of same through the Association for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., there should be every phase of same studied by the one acting in the capacity of the Business Manager; and all phases of same analyzed and considered from the angles that are inevitably set up by the work itself, or that which has been chosen as the criterion or the measuring rod of what constitutes the success or the failure of any work.
4. First, then, is the work through the channel fulfilling the purpose for which it was organized, in the lives, the hearts, the experiences of the individuals that seek for aid through this channel?
5. By the reports, as these may be considered, there is - there has been - there may be, in the light of the experience under this particular manner of presenting same, more good in the lives of individuals than there has EVER been accomplished before.
6. In the manner or matter of compensation, and that ordinarily termed the remunerations for the work which has been done, which is being and may be accomplished, as we have ever given, there will be the sufficient returns for that given out if it is accomplishing that in the lives of
254-64 Page 2
individuals that is expected or sought.
7. In this respect, then, we find there is constantly occurring shortages. Hence, there must be that there is a fault in some direction.
8. Then, analyze same in accordance with the manners that have been given that this should be presented; and there will be, there should be, those sufficient returns, then, for the carrying on of every phase of the endeavor in the present.
9. The first consideration, then, is:
10. Is the good being accomplished? Yes.
11. Is there sufficient remuneration from that being accomplished? No.
12. Then, wherein does the fault lie? There is too much period when good might be obtained, that there are vacant periods. Then, not SUFFICIENT numbers that may be served are being served! Wherein does such a fault lie?
13. In that there has not been the efficient organization that has been indicated, that there might be every period possible filled.
14. Then, wherein does the fault lie in this direction?
15. In that those who have been aided have not been sufficiently urged toward their endeavors in interesting others to gain for themselves that which might be accomplished in their experience; for, as given, the development primarily for individuals through associations with the work, or THIS work, should be SELF-development, or the development toward the IDEAL set by the Association that FOSTERS the work!
16. Then, there needs be that there be better cooperation in individual activity, in the group activity, and that the stress be for a sufficient number to continually seek through this channel for that which may be gained in their individual experience, for the carrying on of the work.
17. When this has been accomplished, it will be seen that there is sufficient for all.
18. That there have arisen conditions in the IMMEDIATE, now, that are out of the ordinary should be sufficient evidence that the faith, the confidence, the experience in those that are IMMEDIATELY affected is either faltering or that sin, of some character or nature, is at the base of the conditions.
19. Be not impatient. Remember that these are the crucial tests of a people called for, and to, a service that may aid in keeping such a balance as to preserve for the coming ages that hope in Him, that may be sustained by the faith in those that suffer in body - and who are in the present DENYING the desires, the needs, and are even being scoffed

at for their belief in those things that are as old men's fables, as children's fairy tales, as unbalanced individuals wander in their meditations; yet the answer is in the results, for "By their fruits ye shall know them." And, the fruits FIRST must be the MENTAL and SPIRITUAL attitudes created in the hearts and minds of those that seek through these channels; and, though there be tarryings in the present in the physical and material things, these MUST be the eventualities - and will begin now.
20. Ready for questions.
21. (Q) What specific method would you advise for influencing others to obtain more readings? (A) As indicated by the appointing of those that are to act as official representatives, and these distributing data. And insist that they, as individuals, be responsible for at least one reading each week, or as many each month as may be set as an adequate number for the supplying of more. And, by the perfecting of those groups that would in any manner, as individuals or groups, assume or foster the propagation of the information or aid through just such channels. THESE - the groups - HAVE been well begun! The appointing of the representatives has begun. Then, NOT as commands - but rather as needs; the necessity of the individual as a representative being one that not only fosters but NOURISHES that it believes in, and WOULD foster and aid. And, in such manners should those act in the capacity of giving out the information; those considering the activities of the work in EVERY direction. Put their efforts in that manner. Not as to become pests; not as to become overanxious, but as a loving action - in keeping with that they, as individuals, HAVE received through their OWN association and connection with same. As ye have received, so YE may give. As it is given out, so may there be expected that there will be shown favors, aids, helps, efforts in the direction that would make for the sustaining of that as would carry ON - even under the stress of conditions in all portions of the land. Then, perfect the group in the cities that are considering such. This must, to be sure, be done through those that show sufficient interest to give of themselves and their time in perfecting same, in such a way and manner that it coordinates, cooperates, with the efforts of those in immediate charge of affairs and of the work being fostered

or presented through the Association.
22. (Q) What should the next step be for those in this office in regard to the establishment of the New York group? (Q) Be rather insistent, in a gentle and persuasive manner, to each that might be a portion of the group to induce that this be accomplished in as speedy manner as possible; giving to each again and again the necessities for that they would foster, they would cherish in their experience for that they received, and are receiving, and may receive through such a channel! If this is not WORTHY, then - forget it!
23. (Q) Would it be advisable for Mr. Edgar Cayce, Mrs. Cayce and Gladys Davis to go to N.Y. for this purpose? Advise them as to what their attitude and suggestions regarding the founding of this branch should be to insure the greatest success. (A) FIRST there must be the desire on the part of those organizing, or founding, or being the parts of such a group for an organization; that they are ready and willing to cooperate in organizing, or perfecting, or fostering such a movement. When this is shown or accomplished, then it would be well - as it would in any other portion of the country where the needs or necessities DEMAND the presence of those through whom the greater portions of the manifestations come for fostering, or founding, such a group or organization.
24. (Q) Please advise us regarding the present set-up of the Association. How can it be organized to function more actively? (A) In the manner that has been suggested! The set-up as Manager, as the Representatives and their activities (and these urged in the manners and the directions that have been outlined again and again) should be carried forward! DO! and it shall be done by! The seed ye sow, that will ye reap!
25. (Q) Please advise Hugh Lynn Cayce, as acting Business Manager, as to what he should do which would advance the work? (A) He ought to act more! And keep on! He's efficient, capable; and should carry on in the capacity, since being appointed as such - or as one that WAS to fill such a place! What would there be to report? What has been done? That the activities have been general! but what specifics in any of the directions? KEEP THINE HOUSE IN ORDER!
26. (Q) Is Gladys Davis capable of filling the place as Business Manager of the Association? (A) It's better were the one that has been appointed - until there may be such a time when - if changes are then desired - it may be considered. [When EC died Board made GD Acting Mgr. A.R.E. until HLC's return from war.]
254-64 Page 5
27. (Q) What should be the next step regarding the Chicago group, especially centering around Ray S. Warren? (A) Wait! until there is the report. There'll be much to report, too!
28. (Q) What should be our next steps in regard to the spreading of the study group work in the proper manner? (A) There has been given a manner in which this should be done: that there should be the approach to some of those that may be interested, in the spreading of this particular phase among those groups that may be interested or brought together, when there is the formation of the group in New York or abroad. And, when such an one is found (and there will be), then those that have been given as the ones to present same in the various territories, or various places, may do so. [See 262-16 on 4/4/32.] Whether it requires the presence of other than those single individuals may be determined by the needs or necessities at that time. Do not be fearful. WORK! WORK!
29. (Q) Is the Bulletin of the Association being handled correctly to bring the most good to the most people? [See Par. 30-A, below.] (A) [Apparently ignoring question, not repeating it] Should there be reports as to the effects that the spreading of these [study groups] has had in the individual lives, without the effect that they must have upon the lives of many, THEY are the answer! That which has been given remains true, "First the individual, then to groups, then to classes, then to masses."
30. (Q) Any advice regarding the improvement of the Bulletin of the Ass'n? (A) This is very good, so far. Of course, there are many conditions that might be considered by some as very far from being in keeping with a great organization, but remember - "Large oaks from little acorns grow!" Keep the spirit in the right place. Do not overstep, but do not falter to present an individual. Rather let THIS be the motto: THE TRUTH, AND THAT WHICH MAY MAKE ALIVE IN THE HEARTS OF THOSE THAT SEEK TO KNOW IT! [Used in Bulletin as motto 5/33 through 8/36.]
31. (Q) What phase of the general data should be stressed during the coming six months? (A) That which is rather of the unusual nature, as related to the changes in the affairs and the activities of nations - and the world.
32. (Q) Suggest a few subjects.
254-64 Page 6
(A) How many have been given, in all of those that are returning into the world and are being or growing to affect activities in the lives of groups, nations, and places throughout! Follow along with these. Take what you have; then step on to others!
33. (Q) Are there any phases or channels of the work which should be developed at this time? or stressed, and that we are not doing? (A) That which may be valuable to magazines or newspaper articles hasn't been stressed as yet! You're commencing, yes! but so do many others commence! Do not falter, when these haven't been pushed - or haven't been given the opportunity for showing to the people that which may be gained through these sources!
34. (Q) Should the work be continued with Virginia Beach as the center? (A) This has been given as the center, and as to the Why. As yet we haven't found changes!
35. (Q) Any other advice or guidance at this time? (A) Keep in the way that brings those satisfactions in self's own conscience, with the proper consideration of every phase of the experiences of others, the needs, and their desires. Weigh them well with that as He has given, in "Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you." Copy to H. L. Cayce " " File
