1. GC: In accordance with the information through this channel on May 21st [254-75], we seek at this time a presentation of the policies of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., as may be given through this channel. Copies of that given, we understand, should be presented to those trustees elected at the coming annual Congress and to those to whom we write asking that they accept the position to which they have been elected. Questions.
2. EC: Yes, we have the information that has been given respecting that which should be given to those who may be selected as the trustees of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, Incorporated.
3. In dealing with policies, this as is understood even for a research organization whose purposes and ideals have been outlined and should remain in the same manner as they have been outlined or accepted, must not only be construed or viewed from the point of being a concrete active organization with an ideal as to its purposes and aims, but the spiritual aspect - to be sure - must be considered, that the policies are at least consistent with the character of the information that has been accepted or heretofore presented from time to time as being helpful or beneficial in the experience of those who have applied same in their own experience.
4. For, consistencies - with proofs and facts - should at least be one of the watchwords of the organization.
5. That those who may be chosen have ideas respecting the conducting of an organization of this nature or character may be expected.
6. That the purposes and the ideals set forth will be wholly acceptable to all must, of course, in its first cause or premise be acceptable to any who may accept the authority or the place as one in authority respecting making the policies or presenting in any form or manner data that may be given, gathered or presented to others.
7. What then, is asked, should be the policies of the
254-77 Page 2
organization?
8. Much as has been set forth in the presentation of the organization from time to time; that it, the organization, is first - as the name indicates - a research, then an enlightening organization; that the activities of same in every direction will be consistent with, and in keeping with, those things that are first sacred, those that are true, those that are helpful, and yet being tolerant to all and keeping in that way of presenting only that which has been experienced in the affairs of those that WOULD induce, persuade or subscribe to any of those things that may be presented through such channels for CONSIDERATION by those who are seeking in this character or phase of subjects that may be presented from time to time. That there should be certain given periods devoted to the research work on various subjects at various periods, not only for the enlightening of the Board itself but for other organizations that are - as this - lights unto their OWN groups or adherents to their causes or purposes. That there should be certain periods given wholly or entirely to those that are not able to contribute but who are desirous of being a portion of such an organization.
9. That, as has been given first as a policy, any part of the work itself that does not work as a consistent thing, as a consistent thing from the idea of the material, the mental or the spiritual aspects, should be discarded and should be changed.
10. Such an outline should be presented, as we find, as to what the policies of the organization are, and of those that are PRESENTING the organization or the work at this time.
11. Ready for questions.
12. (Q) Are we following the correct procedure for our Congress programs, and the coming annual election of trustees? (A) Following a policy that is very good, and in keeping with the first as has been presented; though these should be kept consistent at all times with that which has been indicated. And it is very good.
13. (Q) What should we do in regard to members who do not receive sufficient number of votes to be counted among the fifteen? (A) This should be, of course, the policy of those of the Board to select from that which has been intimated, first by the desire of the Board or the desire of the membership itself, then in keeping with that that the policy is, or as the organization is charged - the selection even from any of these must be made by the present Board.
14. (Q) Do we understand, then, that it would be alright to invite other members whom the present Board feels would be
254-77 Page 3
very good trustees? (A) Keep faith and keep consistent, yes. But that that is for the best of the organization, as is felt by the present Board, of course, is the law. As has been indicated, as we find, there should be sufficient number of these so that there may be allowed three to refuse and still have the fifteen; for, as the charter calls, there may be three or there may be twenty-five.
15. (Q) Any other suggestions regarding the work of the Association at this time? (A) It is up to the organization and the trustees for presenting those things that would be in line with the suggestions; for, to be sure, while the organization is for the presentation of the work of an individual, it should ever be understood that it is rather that the individual work MERITS than that it is only for the individual or an excuse for the individual. And when it doesn't, make selection!
