Time of Reading 11:20 to 11:35 A. M. Eastern Standard Time.

1. GC: You will have before you the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., studying and presenting the psychic work of Edgar Cayce; its officers, management, and various activities. You will advise us in presenting the Sixth Annual Congress program and in planning and carrying forward the year's program. Answer the questions that have been prepared.

2. EC: Yes, we have the Association for Research & Enlightenment, Incorporated; its purposes, its aims, its membership, its management, its officers; and the proposed Congress.

3. In that which has been given, much may be found that is applicable in the present periods of activity.

4. In the presenting of the Congress, as has been given, all phases should be presented - they each in their own sphere and then as related one to another; each phase presented by some member of the Group or of the Board or both; and the activities that have become the policies and the purposes and the aims should be presented also in their proper relationship as one to another - these we find all in keeping with that for which the organization or Association came into being.

5. Then fill and fulfill those purposes, those promises, those activities that are necessary in the material sense for carrying on same.

6. Ready for questions.

7. GC: The following Trustees are subject to re-election. As each name is called you will advise us as to whether it should be presented to the Trustees for election for another period. First:

8. (Q) DOUGLAS T. JOHNSTON. (A) It should.

9. (Q) DAVID E. KAHN. (A) It should. [7/30/37 See 257-187, Par. 29-A--32-A.]

10. (Q) HELENE ZENTGRAF.

(A) Only have one in the family; either that or the other.

11. (Q) FLORENCE EDMONDS. (A) It should.

12. (Q) THOMAS MORROW. (A) This may depend upon the activity of the individual. Seek first if there is the desire to be.

13. (Q) CHESTER ROBINSON. (A) It should.

14. (Q) ESTHER WYNNE. (A) It should.

15. (Q) ROBERT ZENTGRAF. (A) It should.

16. (Q) AUSTIN RICE. (A) It should.

17. (Q) MAE SMITH. (A) It should NOT.

18. (Q) The following have received nominations from Active Members. Comment on each as the name is called: First: Edith Fox: (A) Very good, but unless there is shown more activity in the work of the organization AS an organization, no.

19. (Q) JOSEPHINE MACSHERRY. (A) This would be very well.

20. (Q) THOMAS SUGRUE. (A) This apparently is not just at the time or season when he should become a member, an active member of the Board. This should be a little later, but not just at the present.

21. (Q) NOAH MILLER. (A) This would be very well, to take the place of Morrow.

22. (Q) MALCOLM ALLEN. (A) Not so well just in the present.

23. (Q) Any other from these sources that should be recommended for the Board? (A) These as presented should be sufficient in the present period.

24. (Q) Considering all circumstances and conditions, what member of the Board of Trustees should be elected President of the Association? (A) Kahn in the present, and for the period that the electing to Trusteeship would be - but NOT longer. [7/30/37 See 257-187, Par. 29-A--32-A.]

25. (Q) Relative to members of Study Groups working toward development of psychic faculties, the following plan has been suggested: It is sometimes desirable for individuals who have studied the Work for a year or more to have several Readings dealing with their development. One of the primary interests of the Association is to assist such individuals

in this development. It has been proposed to permit such individuals to obtain Readings (after a year or two year's membership in such a Group) for ten dollars. (A) It should be for nothing - if it's for their development!

26. (Q) Yet in line with the present program this would be a change that does not seem in the minds of some to be proper. Would it be wise to set up some sponsored program along with the present one to make this possible? Please advise. (A) Readings that are for the development of individual activities should be a portion of the Sponsored Program.

27. (Q) Any advice at this time relative to presenting the Congress program? (A) As has been indicated, present and have reports from all the various phases of the Work, by the various individuals.

28. (Q) Any advice regarding carrying forward the 1937 Program? (A) The Program that has been set is very good. There needs only to be the presenting of same, the interesting and the keeping of the interest of those - as has been outlined by the Program.

29. (Q) Any counsel or advice for the Manager at this time? (A) Keep in the way that is in line with that endeavor being attempted. Be persistent and be consistent with all of the activities, and in the presenting of the various phases of same to those groups or institutions or individuals that may become interested, or that may become or be interested by the enlightening of them as to what is being accomplished in the various activities and fields of service that may be rendered.

30. We are through for the present. Two copies to Hugh Lynn Cayce Copy to Ass'n file
