Time of Reading 3:30 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time.
1. GC: You will have before you the discussion held on the afternoon of May 3rd, 1938, shortly after five o'clock in the office of Buchanan and Company, 17th floor, 1501 B'way, N.Y.C., between M. H. H. Joachim of 520 No. Michigan Ave., Chicago, Ill., Thomas S. Buchanan of Buchanan and Company, and Hugh Lynn Cayce. Considering the best interest and the most constructive presentation of the psychic work of Edgar Cayce please advise Hugh Lynn Cayce as to the proper presentation of the Life Readings for a possible Radio Program, through this connection.
2. EC: Yes.
3. In considering all such: As has been indicated, it is well to wait for the reaction before any definite plans, or even considerations of manners of presenting such, would be undertaken.
4. The value of such information, as has been indicated, is in the direction of Vocational Guidance. And instances of directing individuals in these directions may be the plans or the character of data from which such might be drawn.
5. That the basis of such information is of the nature that apparently has its concept from the oriental mind, and that the directions are from occidental sources, may produce hindrances in the beginnings.
6. Hence, as it may be in the first, it would require that there be quite a bit of such a period given (if it were to be considered at all) in the explanation, in the directing of the thought of those who may be interested; as to how and why, and in what way and manner such information answers many of the questions and problems as related to the activities in the material world where apparently there are so many discrepancies in the very nature of circumstances and environs and surroundings, and that are not answered by the laws that are the general rule in those individual cases in the present.
7. As to the use of the name or the source from which such arise, this should not be permitted to be used even in any

form - until there is the seeking of such AS for INDIVIDUAL direction or guidance; and this only by the individual seeking of same.
8. Ready for questions.
9. (Q) How long should we wait for a reaction? (A) Whether it's a minute or an hour, or a day or a week or a year - until there is the reaction!
10. (Q) Please outline in detail the type of program based on the Life Readings which will be most constructive, and have the greatest popular appeal. (A) That as indicated. First the greater portion of such would be based upon the attempt to explain, you see, the needs for the answering of such questions. Then in each program there would be an individual case presented WHERE direction was, or it may be, or has been given; and, so far as has been permitted to be given, the outcome of same. Whether these have only been tendencies, inclinations or what not - each individual interpretation would offer then a program, see? Or, as an example in that being presented by such information. As to the value of same, there must necessarily be those shown where the inclinations have been given and are dependent upon activities or the reaction of those who have become aware of the possibilities, or the abilities of those in their own household. Also there would be others where there is the waiting upon the outcome or the activity, and how there is the variation between will, impulse, influence, heredity, environment - all of the higher natures - by the astrological aspects as well as the influences from sojourns under any given existent conditions.
11. (Q) Then you would advise that this program not be put on through this connection yet? (A) No such advice is given! When there is the reaction, and when there is the preparation - but it will require a great deal of study, a great many scripts to be prepared, a great many to be presented; then revamped and then re-presented! For, even for a three to six months or a year program of once a week or the like, there must be required at least half or a third of such to be prepared before there would be
254-99 Page 3
even the beginning of the presenting of such a program!
12. (Q) Would it be wise for Edgar Cayce to be personally involved in broadcasts dealing with the philosophy presented through the Life Readings? (A) As just indicated. Not even the name or the intimation of the sources, except by requests as to the source of such information - FOR individual interpretation or individual application! Merely that there IS a source, or there are SOURCES!
13. (Q) May we expect fully sympathetic and constructive approaches through this connection? (A) Sympathetic. As to whether they would be made constructive or not must depend upon those who would prepare the data for presentation!
14. (Q) Who would you suggest to work on such data for presentation? (A) Whoever has the ability and knows the sources, and knows the APPLICATION in not only one but in many HUNDREDS of cases where the Life Readings have been obtained and applied in the experience of the individual.
15. (Q) Any other advice to Hugh Lynn Cayce in this connection at this time? (A) Study the evaluation, as indicated, and - always - from a constructive angle.
