Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:55 P. M.
1. GC: You will have before you the work of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., in studying and presenting the psychic work of Edgar Cayce. You will present at this time that which will be helpful to those assembled here [for the Seventh Annual Congress] in better understanding and carrying forward this work during the coming year. You will also give a special message to each of those assembled here from distant points, as I call their names:
2. EC: Yes, we have the work of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, with its ideals, its purposes that are set forth in its relationships to others. Also we have those gathered here, and that as may be accomplished in the coming year.
3. As has been so oft indicated for all, first know in what and in Whom you have believed. When you say you believe this or that, know Who is the author, Who is the finisher of same.
4. And unless its source is of such a nature that it is in keeping with Him that is the Author of Life itself, reject same! For these must be as the principles of Life itself!
5. But that you have found good, USE - do not abuse.
254-101 Page 2
6. Knowledge, as has been given of old, that has caused man's uprising and downsitting, is from misapplication of law. Know that thy God IS law; that law is love.
7. Know ye then the law and apply it, but COMPLY in thy own life, in thy OWN application, by doing that yourselves that ye would have thy neighbor do!
8. This makes for that which is in keeping with a fact that has been from the foundations of the earth - God IS! and they that would know Him must believe that He is and may be made manifest in their dealings with their fellow man!
9. Then until ye yourselves, as individuals, may see that ye would worship in thy Creator, in those that would speak evil of thee, those that hate and despitefully use thee, ye have not begun to think!
10. For as the man thinketh in his heart, so is he.
11. Then, if ye would not be condemned, condemn not. If ye would have faith, SHOW faith. If ye would have love, show love.
12. Yea - ye say, "This I have heard so oft!" Yes, but what have you done about it?
13. Ye must realize, then, that God IS - and thy body is the temple of thy God! Do ye meet Him there?
14. The kingdom of heaven is within. Do ye worship there? Not thyself, but thy God?
15. Hast thou made thy god fame, fortune, or just to be well spoken of?
16. That alone then may ye attain!
17. For when troubles, distresses, heartaches and disappointments come, to whom may ye turn? Not to thyself! for this has been expended in the gratifying of thy desires - if ye have made those things that are temporal thy god!
18. Only when love, patience, perseverance, longsuffering and brotherly love are shown may ye indeed know upon Whom to rely.
19. For of such is the law of creation, of hope, of faith, of patience. And in patience ye possess the knowledge of thy soul. Then how gave He? "AGREE with thine adversary quickly!"
20. In thy activities be ye wise, not in thy own conceit but in the knowledge that thou hast spoken, that thou dost speak oft with thy God in thyself.
21. Then may each of you here, through the coming year, have this - in thy own words - as thy counsel in meditation:
22. GOD, IN THEE DO I PUT MY TRUST! THOU KNOWEST MY HEART, MY MIND, MY PURPOSES, MY DESIRES! MAKE THEM, O GOD, THINE! MAY I CHOOSE TO DO THAT THOU WOULDST HAVE ME DO. MAY MY
254-101 Page 3
PURPOSES AND MY DESIRES BE ONE WITH THINE - FOR I WOULD BE ONE WITH THEE! AND EVEN AS THOU HAST PROMISED, AS THOU HAST SHOWN US THE PATTERN IN THE MOUNT OF OUR OWN CONSCIOUSNESS, MAY WE WALK WITH THE SON OF LIGHT AND MERCY AND GRACE, EVEN AS SHOWN TO US IN JESUS - THE LOWLY ONE! AND MAY OUR WILL BE WITH THEE, THAT YE MAY COME AND ABIDE WITH US DAY BY DAY. NOT MY WILL BUT THINE, O GOD, BE DONE IN ME.
23. If each of you through the coming year will make THAT thy LIFE - not just a saying, not just a profession - ye may add to those purposes of the Association for Research and Enlightenment in such measures that thy vision, thy consciousness, thy awareness will be enlarged; so that thy LIFE, thy experience, will become more worth while.
24. Ready for names.
25. (Q) [1152]: (A) Hold fast, thou, to the faith and light that has shone about thee oft. Be constant in prayer, in service. For as ye do it unto the least of thy brethren, ye do it unto thy Maker.
26. (Q) [1530]: (A) Let not thy heart be troubled. Ye believe in God. Believe also in His purpose with thee. Faint not because others may disagree with thee. Hold to the law of love, and LOVE will hold to thee!
27. (Q) [1100]: (A) Keep the ways before thee open, that the purposes He hath for thee may be broadened in thy life and thy contact with thy fellow man. Be thou EVER alert to the opportunities that lie before thee day by day. For each day is a new creation of opportunities. For whosoever WILL may come and drink of the water of life; for it wells up from within.
28. (Q) [470]: (A) Let thy going in, thy coming out, never be questioned by thy own conscience. Yet know that thou hast a service, a duty to perform. For the idle ever think on their own deeds. Sow not pearls before swine, but let thy yeas be yea and thy nays be nay.
29. (Q) [1391]: (A) Store up in thy heart the more perfect image of that ye would worship in thy God. Know that all of thy fellow men have that image within themselves; that in each there is
254-101 Page 4
that image. Seek to magnify that which is good. Forget the shortcomings of those who are weary and heavyladen, by easing their burdens here and there. For the Lord loveth those that love His erring children.
30. (Q) [1610]: (A) In thy purposes, in thy desires to know His ways, look ever within. For there has He promised to meet with thee. And if ye will by thy purpose, by thy desire, but seek Him - He will come and sup with thee. The ways of the Lord are not past finding out. Only to those who seek THEIR way are the paths of the righteous hidden.
31. (Q) [1626]: (A) The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul. Make thy purposes, make thy desires then one with Him - and ye will find that the pathway of light and life will open for thee new fields of delight in the Lord. For His yoke is easy, His burden is light. Offences must come, but woe to they by WHOM they come! Then, have no part in that as would offend the least of those ye meet day by day. KEEP thy smile of encouragement to others; for it lightens the heart of many.
32. (Q) [1402]: (A) Let thy light so shine that others seeing thy good work may take hope again. Give that to others oft that is encouraging. Warn those that are in their own conceit of the mighty. Keep the paths of righteousness foremost in thy presenting of the ways of life. For the SEEKER will find. Encourage, then, ALL to seek to know their Maker, their Lord, their God!
33. (Q) [1397]: (A) Hold fast to that which has prompted thee to lighten the burden of the mind and the body of many! For "Inasmuch as ye did it unto the least, ye did it unto me," will be music, will be joyous to thy heart of hearts in the days that ye stand before Him! For all walk by faith. And as ye create that in the minds and bodies of those ye meet, ye but show the way and sow the seeds that may bring righteousness and life to the many. The Lord loveth the CHEERFUL worker.
34. (Q) [1622]: (A) Thy light hath gone out before the darkness in the lives of many. Keep that light burning in thy own heart. Grow not weary in well doing. Let thy heart open, then, to those things that bespeak the closeness of His walks, His talks with thee. Thy light of love and faith and hope and thought will not lose its reward in Him. For whom He loveth He comforteth, every one. Who IS on the Lord's side - hold up thy hands to Him!
254-101 Page 5
35. (Q) [1158]: (A) Let the love as He gave in His walks among men guide thee in thy daily walks among thy fellow men. For His promises are sure. His arms are not short as men's arms or promises. For though the world, though heaven, though the earth may pass away, His promise, His word, His love passeth not away. For the world - yea, the earth - is given into His keeping. Then walk oft in the light of His promise, in the HOPE of His coming!
36. (Q) [1210]: (A) Let not thy heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. For as the Lord directs thy way, so may ye find peace - and contentment. Only when ye seek to have THY way, thy desire, without thought of thy purpose in the earth, do the real disappointments come. For His ways are before thee, and from His face ye CANNOT hide!
37. (Q) [954]: (A) The Lord keep thee, the Lord bless thee, the Lord cause His face to shine upon thee and bring thee peace - in body, in mind! Hold to the light that has and does come to thee, and it will lead thee from the shadows, from the doubts, from the fears. For He loveth EVERY one alike!
38. (Q) [1561]: (A) In the days of thy youth ye gloried in thy strength. In the days now, glory in the strength of the LORD in THEE! and thy purposes and thy desires, if they are kept in the Lord's way, will bring to thee joy of heart, magnitude of beauty - the love of the Father as shown in the Son! Meditate oft in thy temple, that ye may know what manner of man thou art, and the way ye would go. Stand aside and watch thyself pass by - SEE what direction ye take!
39. (Q) [264]: (A) The law of the Lord is perfect, and it faileth not when ye allow same to be magnified in thee - thy works, thy thoughts, thy deeds! Then hold to the light that is found in the promises of the Christ, "What ye ask in my name, BELIEVING - and doing my will - will be answered in THEE, if thy purposes and thy desires are made wholly one with same." These are thy promises - not just for others! For until ye have known the Lord thy God as THY God, personally, ye have only heard of truth!
40. (Q) [689]: (A) In the light of the Lord, and LAW, rejoice! Hold to those things that make the heart of hearts glad. For His ways are before thee, and the way ye know! Then, follow in those steps that have been set before thee, for they lead to hope, to life - yea, to glory itself!
254-101 Page 6
41. (Q) [1500]: (A) Let that which has been done in thy body be for a purpose before thee, that ye may GIVE the glory to Him who is the Author of life! For what gaineth the man that has gained the whole world yet has lost hope in his own self? Arouse thee, then, to thy abilities, to thy purposes; and proclaim the glorious day of the Lord! For it is at HAND!
42. (Q) [1401]: (A) Love and mercy and grace and peace are not words to be found in thy spelling book nor in thy Bible alone, but in thy heart and in thy dealings with thy fellow man day by day. If ye would be lovely, show love in thy dealings with others. If ye would find that which is glorious in thy life, make it a purposeful one; not to thine OWN glory but to Him who is the author and the finisher of faith. Not long-facedness, never! Be ye JOYOUS in thy love, in thy service, in thy activities before others.
43. (Q) [1506]: (A) Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil. Keep thy face to the light and the shadows fall far behind. But when troubles and doubts and fears come, and ye trust alone in the deceitfulness of the material things - these may only bring disappointments and fears and heartaches. Walk in the light of God.
44. (Q) [1931]: (A) The way is before thee - thy life, thy heart, thy loves! Make them His purposes - God's desires, God's will. For these ways will bring thee understanding, which casts out fear; and these ways are not grievous to those that love the Lord!
45. (Q) Any message for the group as a whole? (A) As given - and to all, this: Know - KNOW that He hath risen, and Lo, He is with thee always! even unto the end of the world! Let thy light then so shine that others may take hope. And call oft to the erring one - call oft to those that are fearful. Set their feet and their face towards the light of the hope that is in Christ Jesus - the Savior of the world! Amen!
