1. [257]: Now you have before you the body of [257] who is located at 290 Riverside Drive, New York City, in Apt. 15D, and his associations in New York, Asheville, Chicago, St. Louis and other places. You will give him the information which we will ask about his physical condition, his mental and business relations.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, those relations and conditions as exist in the physical, and the material and business relations. Ready for questions.
3. (Q) What should the body do to correct the conditions of the teeth? (A) This condition as has been given needs local attention. Also there has been given the correct diet to add that in the structural forces of the body that will keep same corrected when the local condition is cared for. Do that.
4. (Q) Would a bridge for the loose tooth in the front of the mouth be better to join the other teeth or remain on the present pivot. (A) Better to join on others.
5. (Q) What is the general condition of the body itself? (A) The general physical forces of the body are very good. There are some crystallizations that are not good. This more from taxation and from the general eliminations not being carried out in system. Well that the body rest more and be more normal in activities and to exercise the eliminations as respecting alimentary canal.
6. (Q) What is meant by being more normal in activities? (A) Not so active that the body is wasting its energy. Be persistent, yes, but consistent with the physical forces of the body.
7. (Q) Should body make trip to see the Paris Medicine officials at St. Louis, Mo.? (A) These conditions present rather unusual circumstances at the present time. There have been some activities that are not in accord with some that would control or act with the best interests of the body, [257], that is. With the changes while there might have been advantage taken of Grove

as given in the first place, this would never make a success. The time will soon be proper for the body [257] to visit St. Louis on the proposition. This will be when more closely associated with the financial interests as would handle same. Now this would be the channel to operate best through while these are in keeping with others interests in same and disregard those influences that would in any underhand or overhand take advantage of anyone.
8. (Q) Do I understand - ? (A) (Interrupting) - You understand pretty well. This is referring to an individual who has attempted to handle the thing and would not consider that [257] had handled the thing properly.
9. (Q) - ? (A) [257] has handled the thing properly; the other man has messed it up.
10. (Q) Does [257] know who the other man is? (A) [257] knows who the other man is.
11. (Q) Is the other man worth while? (A) The man is worthwhile but don't let him mess this up.
12. (Q) Is that B. L. you refer to? (A) No, it is H...
13. (Q) Should [257] approach this proposition through Mr. Logan, the attorney for Mr. Grove who knows that [257] means to do what is right? (A) This is the approach when the association with the financial end is just a little bit closer. [His mother [325]'s real estate?] (A) These conditions and surroundings we have had here before. The visit to the place, closer touch with individuals who have same in charge of personally will offer much better channel and also for the disposing of same advantageously. So far there are some conditions respecting real estate in Lexington that will offer in the next sixty or ninety days beginning Oct. 3rd that will make such a

visit advantageous towards disposing of same satisfactorily. Make the visit.
16. (Q) Should the property be rented in the meantime? (A) For ninety days? No. Would the disposition be made of same as has been given and as has given respecting that as may be obtained for same, should be most advantageously invested in directions as has been outlined. See?
17. (Q) Does that mean Sears Roebuck stock? (A) In Sears Roebuck stock, a wonderful opportunity, for as has been given, this bought outright and put away with the changes or split-up and other stock offered with the dividends as are being paid and will continue to be paid on same, offer a good opportunity.
18. (Q) Will the stock make any decided reaction from the present price? (A) Only in general slumps. There is in the air of a general slump to come. See? Yet this is constantly being held off by interests, much political, much financial, as is seen respecting money. Never has there been a period before when money was being speculated in as much as stocks, hence banking conditions offer some unusual opportunities but there are some that won't be faithful, some bad conditions will arise in the next four or five months with some officials, some that are in trust of bank funds in various places.
19. (Q) Does that refer to any Manufacturers Trust officials? (A) No, this rather in Pittsburgh, Chicago, Elkhardt, Bloomington, Cincintown, Sayrsmore.
20. (Q) Did the body have a successful trip to Asheville and did he help the factory? (A) The plans, the outlines as were put in motion have been acted in a way and manner as set forth by the body, were a wonderful help. If they are set aside again, then there will be much to do over.
21. (Q) Will the appointment of an assistant to Mr. Francis be successful in carrying out these plans? (A) If the body as appointed carries out that instructed, yes. Those are in keeping with that information as has been given; the individuals are willing and capable. The conditions as surround same must be acted upon the wills of individuals that the business of the body to be mindful and watch. See that there are carried forward, for to make it homely, "though you may lead the horse up, but you don't make him drink." You can set conditions proper but you cannot make them think. You may present that as is the correct but when others act, others are then in the way of making or abusing those conditions as would be for the best

elements.
22. (Q) How can the body further impress his superintendent with the necessity of adopting additional help. (A) By continual insistence and showing that with the increase in the amount that must be tended to and the variation and the better the character of the product, the more and greater the necessity of efficiency, say in the handling of the product.
23. (Q) Does Mr. Francis want to help [257]? (A) Willing but weak, yet the body desirous of doing but willing insofar as the conditions are in favor of Francis, yes, the body desires to help.
24. (Q) Was the body that was approached through Richmond, Indiana and who is now at Peru, Indiana the proper man for assistant superintendent. (A) Capable and willing and would be well for the place.
25. (Q) Is it too late to get him? (A) Not too late but there are others that have been more in line and through some channels would be more helpful, would the individual apply self in the way and direction as given.
26. (Q) Is Mr. Gates a better man? (A) At least as capable a man.
27. (Q) Does Ben Lauterstein who is now in his home at 320 West 86th Street, New York City, intend to settle with [257] this week? (A) Not if he can help it! These conditions present many peculiar turns. Now there has been given the body not to press the issue as concerning these conditions but to work gradually to that point where the necessities of the surrounding forces rather forced the issue then by demands. Still there has been and is still given that gradually this pressure of surrounding conditions should be brought to bear on those as should bring these to a better understanding. Let that pressure come through the associations in the financial end; then watch it change! This can be brought about by the body [257] in a very diplomatic way and manner by the consistent turn to this end of the business without neglecting any of the rest.
28. We are through for the present.
