1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [257], present in this room, and his associations with members of his firm, the factory at Asheville, N. C., and the Paris Medicine Company at St. Louis, his investments, and general information to be given fully in answer to questions I will ask you regarding the physical, mental and material conditions.

2. EC: We have the body and the mind, with associations and their relations, as they influence - or are influenced by the body and mental and physical associations with same. These, in MANY respects, we have had before. These present, and represent, many varied and various aspects of endeavors in many different directions. All are influenced - or influence the body - in one respect or another. Much may be said as respecting any of these conditions. Many things have been given as respecting most of these. As has been seen by the application of self and self's abilities, through application of that in hand many various fields of endeavor have opened for the body, giving and offering greater opportunities, and carrying with it greater responsibilities and greater liabilities in many respects. Being ever as of, or faithful in the few, many more will be added in different ways and manners. Questions:

3. (Q) Should he take the physical exercises that he took recently from Lawrence Hill? (A) Were it able, or would the body make self compatible with the REQUIREMENTS that go with such, these may by very well - but to take occasionally, and when it suits the body, or when it becomes necessary, it doesn't mean a great deal. Rather injurious than effective. Rather that the body take, consistently, persistently, ten minutes morning and evening, before retiring and upon arising, than all the others taken spasmodically. This system would be will for the body, and the body-physical will respond to such. Do that. Try it out - but be consistent, whether on train, on board, or in home or office. Ten minutes morning and evening, regular

getting-up exercise, ESPECIALLY using the circular motion for the abdominal muscles.

4. (Q) Has the body low blood pressure? (A) No.

5. (Q) Are the teeth better? (A) Yes.

6. (Q) Was removal of two front teeth done correctly? (A) Very good. Rather hastily done, but rather more in keeping with that suggestion as has been given respecting same.

7. (Q) Is present treatment of hair in accordance with that given? (A) In accordance, save consistency of application.

8. (Q) Should body again purchase Sears-Roebuck? (A) Good buy, even at present prices - but necessary to stay with some time. There is to come, of course, variations, under existent conditions - yet, as we find, even as has been exhibited in the present day operation, many variations in stocks, bonds, and investments of such nature. Those of the combination group represent rather the better investments in such direction. That of Radio on the rebound. That of Western Union, American Tel & Tel, Westinghouse, Western Electric, and such. These are those that are the high stocks at present, such as Roebuck. Again there will be in Montgomery-Ward much fluctuation and change. Also, when divisions come in the combine as will be effected by the division in the White Law, and there is allowed - which will be in the course of months - those combines working under different applications of those elements that rule or govern their operations (which apply to patents), these will offer the greater opportunity for REAL values, as well as speculative ones. Sears-Roebuck still offers opportunities. With their expansions in varied directions, these present opportunities. To those who are holders in staples, as cotton, these we will find offer a greater field of fluctuations on account of many entering into the field of these commodities in other directions, so we have Rayons again a good buy. We also have that, that hold cotton, these should be held for higher prices. These will be good.

9. (Q) What special Rayons? (A) DuPont.

10. (Q) What special cottons? (A) The general.

11. (Q) Is there any other advice as to quick breaks? (A) These may be expected soon. These must come. They may come later, or they may be bridged over by the combines; yet the stabilization through money forces as against

257-32 Page 3

speculative interests - and the banks, though divided in their operations, one of the leading ones being the balance wheel - these offer rather unusual opportunities in a speculative way; yet best that these be made for quick, (save in those that have been outlined as ones to hold) rather than long time speculations. These offer the greater opportunities, as has been given.

12. (Q) Is the present time proper to bring complete settlement from the firm to the body? (A) When there is the full meeting of the new Board, as will be called into session - or together - near the first weeks of December, when there is to come again the call to banks, as has been warned through these channels, and that time well to press more closely a more specific settlement and a proper understanding. This apparently will be 14th to 17th of December, or before, for there will be the ones that will be necessary; that is, the banks, through that association socially as given - those are the channels through which the body should act. Not AS holding over the dead of anyone, no! but rather as the RIGHT, the CORRECT, the proper position for ones that are associated for the good of the whole. These had best be properly understood, else there will arise (this as it would be presented, see?) those misunderstandings, as cause what may be termed the "fly in the ointment", that becomes canker in the activity of those who would still bring in greater returns for operation through the association.

13. (Q) Now that body is vice-president, how has his standing improved in the business? (A) When the recognition of same is as given, through the meeting, and through the active power of one in the position as relating to the associates in the connecting branches of the firm, these will increase according to the application OF the individual to the position. To be named as a vice- president doesn't make the body any more CAPABLE, or his abilities any greater; neither does it increase the valuation in the eyes of the public - other than the ability to SERVE the public in that capacity in a greater degree. Raised to a position in a public service only gives the individual the opportunity to serve the public in a more noble manner. Position by name means little! Position by the ACQUIRING of the abilities to FILL the position means much! Fill self with enthusiasm for SERVICE, rather than glory for that ATTAINED.

14. (Q) How can body locate a new cabinet, etc? (A) This be well to work out with the engineers whom the body has been associated with in various factory users.

257-32 Page 4

That is, as these change in the various manners that reception is obtained, there becomes necessary - as is seen in many of the models that have been presented from time to time - the equipment to take care of that being received. With the change as has been seen, and as will be constantly coming on, there may be presented then - through that association, which is of proper cooperation with such engineers - that which will prove the best model for the coming season. Gain some from each! Then COMBINE those, and there will be seen one that would work out the better, see?

15. (Q) What change will come to the radio business, as has been given? (A) Particularly in that direction of the various modes or manners of reception as indicated. When that necessary for the various characters of that able to be received trough such channels is perfected, the perfecting of same - not only as loud speaker, or as various characters of tubes that are being developed - but of the various modes or manners of television, or as of in the radiograph, or as these various effects. THESE will offer the first channels during 1929.

16. (Q) How can [257] be sure to hold business of General Electric for - etc? (A) Through cooperation with those who are users of same, and through the ability to make THOSE USERS a portion of the association or company!

17. (Q) Can [257] sell an interest in his factory - etc? (A) Better still, sell the interest in the output of that portion used by them!

18. (Q) How should he proceed to introduce the subject? (A) Much in the manner as has been outlined for the body as respecting that in leading up to it. Those that are of the force of General Electric who pass upon the produce furnished General Electric, become associated in a manner that the policies would be ONE. Get that! That is, those that make the policies OF General Electric, and those that make the policies of the products company, make their purposes ONE; or become a part of the whole, see?

19. (Q) Has Carolina Wood Products Co. found way to eliminate - etc? (A) To a great extent.

20. (Q) Why does dull color come - etc? (A) Lack of the proper combination of lacquers used. These should be in conformity to the manner as has been outlined in same. One of one body, another of a body (speaking of lacquers as body) of another quality and proportion does not combine much better than (poor illustration, but applicable

257-32 Page 5

in this) mixing water with oils, or lacquers, that are not properly cut in a substance soluble in a stain.

21. (Q) What is best lacquer firm to purchase from? (A) Any that offer a consistent body to lacquer that, applying same, give that NECESSARY finish in the manner as has just been outlined. When one presents a body; that is, a filler and a finish; not in keeping with the filler in the body of the lacquer, there of necessity comes that which produces a blur - that, adding TO an top of many other coats, DOESN'T eliminate! This may be caused by improper sanding, or improper rubbing, to be sure. Improper combination of all of those elements that go in the finish of same; but the PRINCIPAL one offered in the finish as is seen in Carolina Wood Products is that of not conformity in fit of lacquer to the coat already applied, especially as to the coat next to filler. We are through for the present.
