1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [257], who is in his office at the Federal Furniture Factories, 206 Lexington Ave., N.Y. City, and his business relations and associations. You will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding these.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257], with his associations and business relations. These we have had before. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) Reference the handling and closing of the deal for the Paris Medicine Co., thru C. C. Orr of St. Louis and Edwin Grove of St. Louis - [257] was unable to go West as advised, but will go now when forces advise, and will request that condition of [wife 903] be taken into consideration - please lay out definite plan for consummation of deal, taking everything into consideration. (A) Large order! Yes - in March may the body be able to resume those of the considerations that will be necessary for the consummation or closing of such a deal. There are, to be sure, many detailed conditions to be considered. First, as has been given, there will be necessary that the body make a trip and spend some time. Rather as toward becoming acquainted with the individuals and their associates and associations, as well as to know in definite manner the conditions as surround the organization at present. As has been given, this will be accomplished more through social relations than as of direct business engagements, and in and through such a visit, such contacts, much may be gained. We do not find this is able to be done before March, taking all into consideration - 15th - 18th - 21st - 27th - these are ABOUT (under present conditions) the time. The approach necessarily will be with Orr, yet there must be some social relations - NOT BUSINESS in the beginning - established with Grove. A consummation of the deal may not be expected before June or July, yet this the manner and way to begin.

4. (Q) How can actual figures on condition of company be

obtained by [257]? (A) Not until there comes the time for the actual considering of the buying or the consummation of a change in the personnel of the medicine company.

5. (Q) With whom should [257] endeavor to make social contact advised? (A) This is as has been outlined.

6. (Q) How can Edwin Grove be approached since he has maintained he did not want to sell? (A) Simply through that of the social and social relations. These must be worked out on the ground.

7. (Q) Please give [257] advice as to best manner to interest Mr. Grove personally? (A) These will have to be begun and negotiations gradually brought to a close.

8. (Q) What price would interest Mr. Orr? (A) That, too, must be considered from the varied conditions as are being enacted in the association and associates of Orr, and others, as respecting the company. Orr holding rather a two-fold position - that of a representative, as agent, and of personal interests; but not holding balance of power, were it to come to a showdown.

9. (Q) What price will interest Mr. Grove? (A) It isn't a question of price there. Rather that of sentiment and of sufficient to carry on those things that are sentiment to the body. These have been outlined.

10. (Q) Has [257] proper knowledge and ability to handle a deal of this size and importance? (A) If he thinks so, yes.

11. (Q) Has [257] earned the right by his acts of daily life to be successful in this deal? (A) Much is to be considered, and much may be said. If there were not, there would not be this given.

12. (Q) How can he further assist humanity in the benefit he will get from this deal? (A) By the proper application as regarding self and his relations with others.

13. (Q) Any further advice? (A) Do that. We are through for the present.
