Federal Furniture Factories Time of Reading 206 Lexington Ave., 11:20 A.M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Body and his associates - Edwin Grove and his associates, both in New York and St. Louis - Questions.)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body and the enquiring mind, [257] - this we have had before. Also those associations as regard- ing Paris Medicine Company and those surroundings and connections, and conditions as regarding Grove and the estate, and those affiliated and associated with same. Ready for questions.
2. (Q) Upon arriving at St. Louis, should I see Mr. Curran first, who handles the real estate for Grove? or should I see the vice-president, Mr. Frank Hammett? (A) Would be better that the communications first be established between both of these, and the follow-up of same as in line with conversation had with both of these concern- ing when and how Grove would be in and at the place where the body may come in direct contact with same. Then, through the one that is more in accord, or together, the body may approach Grove, both from the social and from the business angle, and through these - especially Curran - will the body be able to get an audience with Grove; and in the approach, let Curran then be the one to first broach such change that would enable [257] to assist in the expansion of the business of the Paris Medicine Company and relieve Grove of other responsibilities than that of the chairman of Board, with practically the same returns to Grove as are received at present. Coming, then, under such operations, we will find that the health will permit only about three to four such meetings of the body Grove, with the changed associations; for then there will come the change in the status-quota of the organization, through the conditions, or change that comes to Grove's physical action with the company.
3. (Q) Upon seeing Mr. Grove, will it be necessary to discuss the purchase of the hotels first or should I at once begin the discussion of the Paris Medicine Co.? (A) Paris Medicine Company.
4. (Q) Shall I mention the possibility of his poor health
257-39 Page 2
making it advisable that he should get his income in a more liquid form? (A) Very good approach from such an angle, but let these approaches or suggestions be put first by Curran and Hammett and then acted upon by [257] to give the idea of the expansion for the business, relieving Grove of the responsibilities, other than as chairman of board.
5. (Q) Can Mr. Curran be trusted with my confidence? (A) The communications should warrant the body [257] in making the decision as to how far this can be carried, though - as at present - it can be.
6. (Q) Can Curran help put the deal over for the purchase of the Paris Medicine Co.? (A) As given, yes.
7. (Q) Would it be advisable to make one proposition covering the Paris Medicine Co. and the hotels with Grove as one of the officials? (A) As chairman of board.
8. (Q) Would this plan work successfully with Grove - (A) The better plan.
9. (Q) He to be chairman of the Board - (A) This has just been outlined.
10. (Q) Any change suggested to this plan? (A) Only as outlined.
11. (Q) Due to Grove's unusual nature, how can I get his confidence fully? (A) Only through those, as has been outlined, by the contact through both these individuals, playing one against the other.
12. (Q) What topic of conversation or pet interest can [257] discuss with Grove to get on a companionate basis with him? (A) Business, and expansions, and accomplishments in business. These will influence and interest the body most. Socially - the travel, the experiences in various fields of endeavor.
13. (Q) Will Grove give [257] an option on the business? (A) When set properly, yes.
14. (Q) What inducement will be necessary to get this option? (A) The expansions as are contemplated, and chairmanship of board.
15. (Q) What particular reference to Mr. Grove Sr.'s memory can [257] refer to that will appeal to young Grove? (A) Not too much of this. Rather that of the business, in its growth and expansion, as a monument and memory, and that the business, the products of same, would ever bear the stamp of the efforts of the founder of same.
16. (Q) How can [257] get invited to the home of Grove?
257-39 Page 3
(A) Through the efforts of those as have been given - Curran and Hammett, one against the other.
17. (Q) Will Mr. Grove recover from his present illness and live a long time? (A) We don't find so. Rather as we have outlined. This not to be discussed, either openly or to the individuals, as the deal should be above such conditions; though as POSSIBILITIES, this may be discussed.
18. (Q) What day in May will Grove permit [257] to talk freely and discuss the Paris Medicine Co. deal? (Q) This should be made through the connections already made, as given.
19. (Q) If he says "not interested in the sale of the company," as he has in the past, how can [257] re-open the discussion? (A) By the possibilities of expansion.
20. (Q) Is it advisable to offer Grove the block of stock or would just the chairmanship of the board of directors with a salary be satisfactory and pleasing to Mr. Grove? (A) As much and sufficient of stock for the body to feel the same interest, and with the ability of the body, through the activity as chairman, to receive in same proportion as is received at present - will be satisfactory.
21. (Q) Should [257] attempt to prepare his path in St. Louis by seeing other people beside Curran and Hammett? (A) Through these, the channels - and these channels should the body operate.
22. (Q) Should the Paris Medicine discussion be with Mr. Curran and Mr. Hammett present, or is it better to arrange this confidence alone? (A) Pit one against the other in the WHOLE of the activities.
23. (Q) Should [257] discuss the wonderful Forces that work through Edgar Cayce, and who have been of so much appreciable assistance to [257] in his many endeavors? [Work:EC] (A) Not at this time.
24. (Q) Should Edgar Cayce go to St. Louis with [257] to be on hand to advise [257] in any additional steps necessary to make this trip successful? (A) Don't expect to do it all in one day. He should not be with the body at this time. Rather through those individuals, as has been outlined for the body to be active with.
25. (Q) Should [257] see Mr. Orr before seeing Grove or after seeing him? (A) After seeing him.
26. (Q) Should [257] visit the President of the First National Co. which is an association of Mr. Orr's bank -
257-39 Page 4
(A) Well to do after the conditions have been set in such a shape that this may be consummated in an actuality.
27. (Q) Should [257] again remind Mr. Orr that we want him as a director on the board with a good income? (A) Well, after the conditions are in hand, so that these may be brought as realities.
28. (Q) How will he take this suggestion? (A) Try it and see!
29. (Q) Should [257] mention to Grove the many remedies which he has received from the Cayce Forces? [Work:EC] (A) Only as an expansion, and not as a fact from whom or how same obtained, other than in the manner and way in which the first were obtained and applied and given by the founder of same; in that, and in a consistent manner with that, would the expansion of these be, in the way the body should approach and show same.
30. (Q) Should any discussion be held with Holliday, who is Mr. Grove's lawyer? (A) Only when the time comes for such.
31. (Q) Is there any person, other than these, to be seen by [257] on this trip who can help to make it successful? (A) These, as they arise, will present themselves. Don't cross the bridge until you arrive at same.
32. (Q) How can Grove be induced to come to New York? (A) When the conditions are such that the body sells self on the proposition, this may be done.
33. (Q) What general advice will the Forces give [257] so that he will not make a misstep in this; the one outstanding effort of his life to be successful to the advantage of himself and his associates and the work which we are doing at Virginia Beach. (A) Follow in the ways and paths as has been outlined so oft for the body; NOT as with fear and trembling in the sense that ORDINARILY taken, but rather that, "I will be guided by that as will be shown me from time to time, through the innate desire of self to be well pleasing to the Maker and Creator."
34. (Q) When would it be best - (A) When an audience can be obtained!
35. That is all the questions.
