Time of Reading ... St., 12:15 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.
1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [257] present in this room, and all phases of his life. You will answer the questions which he will ask concerning his mental and material affairs.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257] - this we have had before; also those conditions as present themselves at this time respecting the physical, the mental, and the material body. Ready for questions.
3. (Q) What is status of Albert-Pick & Co., Albert Pick-Barth Co., Federal Wood Products Co., Carolina Wood, now? and advise [257] what to do? (A) With the changes as will come in the situations as surround the holding companies and the subsidiary companies, we find there will be a recapitulation of the assets of those that have shown an active force in the organization, and with the reassociations of interests, as we find, will be well for the body to keep those connections while there is the developing of those interests that the body itself will have in the position, as may be termed the free-lancing, so that - as there are the changes in the financial situations, not only of this present holdings organization or the present manufacturing ends, those conditions that will build for the body a position that will ENABLE the body to handle situations as are desired.
4. (Q) What will be effect on public's mind when announcement is issued? (A) Those whose interests are with the Carolina and the Federal would have the effect of LESSENING the interest of some of the greater helps and aids to the organization. Hence that suggestion as is held that the body [257]'s interest should not be wholly lacking in the outcome, but be able to be in the position to make associations and connections in the directions to care for those interests the body has, and may hold in other associations.
5. (Q) How will [257] personally be affected? (A) Not to the extent as might be expected, in the way of
257-70 Page 2
making the proper associations or connections for the delivery of those goods as may be sold; for these, as we find, will be cared for.
6. (Q) Will Carolina Wood Products Co. and Federal Wood Products Co. be forced into receivership? (A) With the rest, or in the position that they will be in the hands of those working out, as has been suggested. Those conditions as surround these as producing organizations.
7. (Q) What step should I take, and when, to get my trade's confidence back again? (A) When there has been the settlement sufficient that there may be the proper deliveries made in the periods and in the times as are given by the body, and necessary to meet the trades, then only shift sufficient of those to hold the organizations that the body through its efforts serves, to take care of same - see?
8. (Q) Should announcement be made by [257], and if so how should it be worded? (A) Should not be worded until it is known just what the situation, or just the status of the conditions - and then so arranged with other organizations that those that are to be supplied will be supplied either through the efforts of those distributing plants or organizations, or with other organizations of the same character or nature - see?
9. (Q) How will my settlement be handled now, since the Pick Co. is in receivership? (A) In the same way and manner as will be others under the same status, though this position is not exactly in the same status quota as others that would be as creditors. Rather this as the preferred, see?
10. (Q) Is it reasonably certain that I will get my money, even with present conditions? (A) The greater portion, as has been given before.
11. (Q) Advise my lawyer, Riegelman, what is the best step to take, and when, to do me the most good from all angles? (A) When there is seen a status quota of the conditions as regarding the various holdings through which the body itself is represented, in various ways and manners, would be well that these claims as for those of the various companies be pressed as the preferred claims they become, at and through such an action, and these should be done as soon as the position that each is to occupy is stated.
12. (Q) How can Lauterstein help me now to get a settlement of my claim against Pick? (A) Through assisting in making this the preferred claim, as it has been set - and as it is.
13. (Q) How long will my salary with Federal Wood Products
257-70 Page 3
Co. be continued? (A) Until there is a definite change made in the status quota of the Federal Wood as respecting the other holdings company, or when the status quota, or when the position is set forth. This will come necessarily of itself. Hence those conditions as given, that the body should keep its associations, it's touch WITH these organizations through which they pass in the changes, that these may be carried on while those interests of self AS a free-lance are being established with others, see?
14. (Q) If a cut is suggested, what can or should I say? (A) That would depend upon the allowing, then, of the body to care for those of its own trade, through sources that would enable the body to hold same. If that is allowed, then this may be made up in other directions - see? If this is not allowed, then some concessions should be made for the privilege of, or the placing of such in a direction that will enable the body to have the trade of the body cared for.
15. (Q) How long will Geo. Tampers continue in present capacity with Albert Pick & Federal? (A) Until there is a definite change or stand taken.
16. (Q) Who will the receiver of the company be? (A) That is already set forth by those interests in which it stood, as a position as practically in receivership, sometime ago.
17. (Q) Is this party now in possession? (A) In PRACTICAL possession.
18. (Q) Was announcement made in Chicago this morning of receivership? (A) OUTLINE for same has been announced, yes.
19. (Q) Will receiver be friendly to me and my interests? (A) Should be.
20. (Q) What should be my first step after receiver is named? (A) Through the interests with Lauterstein and through the interests with those whom the body has served, should be made those terms as best that maybe made as concerning the conditions themselves, for the terms must be set forth as to which each is to occupy in the various companies as their part and parcel of the holdings company - see? for these will not be ALLOWED, you see, as has been given, that ARE PRODUCING - that is, that are aiding in the financing - to be stood in the same quota as those that are not!
21. (Q) In other words, Federal Wood Products Co. can continue on along its same lines? (A) On same lines. The curtailment that will come with a thing of the kind will make a hardship. Hence that condition as suggested, that the body [257] should take as
257-70 Page 4
respecting same, in being allowed to take care of his interests in other directions, or factories.
22. (Q) Should Riegelman contact A. G. Becker in Chicago, for my best interest? (A) Would be well.
23. (Q) Will I be able to do million dollar business for Federal Wood Products in 1931? (A) Near so.
24. (Q) Who will be best accounts for me, under present conditions? (A) Those of some of the large distributing companies, as Westinghouse, General Electric, Dayton will be some - later on - those in Philadelphia and others that are outside.
25. (Q) Should I consider furniture business for balance of year - bedroom and dining room? (A) Only partially so; they may be considered in connection with others, and of self's interests also, but not - Don't shift from those conditions that have been known, and that are so much a PORTION of the body to the trade in general.
26. (Q) Should I make new furniture connections or plan to continue with Federal Wood Products Co.? exclusively? (A) As has been outlined, do not cut loose entirely from Federal Wood Products as long as they are able to take care of interests, but make those connections that will enable the body to be, as it were, a free-lance in days to come.
27. (Q) Should I do business with Williams-Norris Co. of High Point, and on what basis? (A) On the basis that these are to deliver those to the individuals that the body indicates, in the caring for the trade of the body in certain lines and directions, and on the basis - that of sufficient interest to be made worth while both to the producers and the one passing BETWEEN, or between the distributors, see?
28. (Q) What other factory would be of assistance? (A) High Point, as well as those in some in Pennsylvania, and closer in New York.
29. (Q) Please advise as to my mental and physical attitude in order not to lose faith in the future and make no errors of judgement as to my present problems. (A) When a body in its mental attitudes reaches that point wherein it recognizes within itself it is not capable of meeting all the situations, mental AND material, and allows these to become solved by the inner self, and that that self has builded that may aid from the unseen sources, then a development and a faith arises. The body has expressed itself in a mental way, in a physical aptitude, that it was ready for a change, for a development, for a new scene of activity, or a new arena for the show. Then, with that same
257-70 Page 5
determination to BE that channel through which those forces that have aided may aid the body in meeting the emergencies of the hour, meet them; studying to show self approved unto GOD, that those lines and those forces as may come, through that one whom the body would serve, may act in a way and manner as will be well pleasing with Him. "Not as I would, O Lord, but as Thou Wilt."
