Time of Reading 12:30 - Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Body and enquiring mind - Questions on mental and material affairs)

1. EC: We have the body, the enquiring mind, [257] - present in this room - this we have had before. Ready for questions.

2. (Q) What should I devote most of my time to during next four weeks to insure largest future income for the years to come, considering all the various interests? (A) As we find, the largest interests may be from the insurance vending machine [See [4904] series.]. The other conditions are of the nature that will rise and fall, dependent upon a great many individuals' activities, with expenditures of large sums of moneys, while in this particular field - ONCE there is the DISTRIBUTION, then the handling of the income would be the greater problem.

3. (Q) What progress has really been made by [257] and associates regarding the vending machine? (A) There has been considerable PROGRESS, made but very LITTLE very DEFINITE progress as yet - serve as to the interests, and as to the ABILITIES of those that may make a success of same. Do not, under any circumstance - in general distribution of interest - ALLOW self's INTEREST to become so situated as to lose control of same, if this IS to be carried through!

4. (Q) What should I do next to bring all parties together? (A) We would get those that have, and are showing their interests IN same, together - and come to some DEFINITE outline as to what may be expected by those that have indicated their willingness, or interest in same!

5. (Q) Which railroad would be the first to join us? (A) Pennsylvania has ALREADY committed itself as to a greater portion of one division, which insures at least that much interest, and WITH the INCOME as would come FROM same would make for others showing their interest also.

6. (Q) Is Mel Emerich the man to handle this phase of the business, interesting railroads?

257-74 Page 2

(A) Very well, but Emerich has been both hot and cold on the whole proposition. This, would the interest [if the interest would] be aroused to that same proportion as has once existed, might be the BEST man.

7. (Q) How about Leonard Emerich? (A) More ENTHUSIASM there!

8. (Q) What is his best work? (A) In the FINANCIAL end of it!

9. (Q) What should Harry Leopold do next? (A) That depends upon what OTHERS do, as to what Harry Leopold would do as respecting same. That portion, or SOME PORTIONS of same, should be made a little more definite as to the type of policy, the various interests or companies that have indicated their interest and their ability to join into the activities, and this come to some definite action that there may be construction of the machines, that WOULD indicate the possibility, plausibility, of the idea to be worked out in a definite way and manner by the mechanical engineer on same! That would be the FIRST thing for them to do, or for Leopold to do, see - making this a DEFINITE thing - such and such size, such and such shape, such and such portions of same to be acted in such and such way and manner - whether it's to be those that are to be acted by the stamp, acted by the puncher, acted by the time change in same, or WHAT not! These should be worked out! It's dragging too slow!

10. (Q) Should Judge Dey's [Judge W. W. Dey's] proposition be considered at this time, or are the Chicago connections sufficient to put the deal over thoroughly? (A) Chicago connections are sufficient to put the deal over, but they need just such a boost - or one played against another - to get some action!

11. (Q) How many machines should be considered in first production? (A) At least five hundred, or a thousand.

12. (Q) Which of the companies now interested should be the first of the insurance companies? (A) Continental, or Standard, or the Mutual - Continental Mutual.

13. (Q) What should Ben Lauterstein do at once that might bring this to a head? (A) Get them to doing something on it!

14. (Q) Is he a valuable man in this connection? (A) He's very cold on the proposition. He's a valuable man in this connection, but he's very cold on the proposition. [See [4904] series.] [11/4/31 See 279-11, Par. 8-A, 9-A in re automatic vending machine.]

15. (Q) Should I resign from Carolina Wood Products Corp.

257-74 Page 3

as a director, as suggested? (A) Unless there are some changes, would be very well. If there are other changes, or if there are changes wherein there is to be a combination that would enable the body to be also a director in the new organization - unless that becomes necessary for the (resignation) body to become a member of the new corporation, or new organization, we wouldn't. If that is necessary, we would. If there is not to be a combination of the interests, as has been shown is a portion of the body's activities, if proper consideration is given for same, then alright, resign. Do not put self in a position wherein there is not some word, or some activity on the part of self that has weight WITH its position WITH the organization!

16. (Q) Is being vice-president sufficient? (A) Sufficient as to the way it is run at the present, yes. Many positions, or many conditions in such circumstances. Vice-president is rather that of a name than of an official capacity. Under the circumstances, and way the operations have been - as the body has acted in the capacity of a representative in the sales department, or portion of same - it makes a difference, see?

17. (Q) Then he should remain a director, in that case? (A) Just that as given. If proper consideration is to be given, see - then resign. If it's necessary that the resignation be had that there be the proper associations, and the body IS to be a director in the combination. Be ASSURED of these before! If these are NOT to have the proper consideration, then don't put self in a place to be gradually pushed out!

18. (Q) Regarding Chronogram - Who would be best associate in the manufacture, distribution and financing of the instrument? (A) There have been already some connections and associations considered in this direction. There have been some tentative propositions, as we find, through these channels - and that which would work out of same would be the better channel for the financing, for the distribution, and for the sale of same - see?

19. (Q) What basis should be used to make a deal with Bulova Watch Co.? (A) That as has been contemplated, as has been approached as concerning same. This the right basis.

20. (Q) Should they be given a half interest in the advertising, or is that too much? (A) Not too much for what is ASKED for them!

21. (Q) What are the possibilities of profits for the new products? (A) This will be found, that in some localities this will

257-74 Page 4

take very, very readily. In others it will be found to be rather slow in getting action, but after there has been the proper advertising of same - that is, of the product, and of the variation of same, and the connections as will be made as respecting the various activities from the product - then we find that the possibilities would be good.

22. (Q) What are the first cities in which we should attempt this distribution? (A) New England and North Central States.

23. (Q) Should the advertising be sold direct or through agencies? (A) There is such a combination as respecting advertising, and the contracts advertising agencies have with the various nationally advertised products, that it would be very RARE that a REAL advertising contract, without going through the agencies, would be consummated - save as personal interests might appear from advertisers' interest in the product and its distribution. Hence, as we find, it would be the more practical thing, then - while it would take less - but to go through the regular channels for such advertising. There are, as is seen, with the national advertisers - most of these are already under contract with agencies - see?

24. (Q) What is the best agency to use? (A) That one that has already a national and international reputation in such directions, those as are in control of such products - we will have a variation in these anyway, but those that are in control of such - as the Eastman Company, Crosby - Washburn-Crosby Company, the cigarette companies - or Camel's, and the American Tobacco Company, and such as those - THESE have their contracts, see? See, when there became - or there came the distribution of same, these do not WANT to present - in their presentation - for the better distribution as of the product BEING an advertising product, but as one that carries WITH same the advantages OF seeing and having the product sent in the homes - which would not like to be - for then they would be more in the places where there are the reminders for peoples' goings and comings. In the homes they must present a different proposition from offices, or places of passage for peoples' going and coming FROM their homes - see? This brings new ideas, to be sure, but these will be worked out.

25. (Q) Would Mr. Hill be a good man, of the American Tobacco Company, to interest? He owns Camel's cigarettes. (A) Be a good man to interest.

26. (Q) What is the best time to offer the products to the public? (A) The coming season would be the better time, though - to be sure - any period when those come for their various changes, as they should be in the Chronogram roll itself,

257-74 Page 5

for it will change with the seasons, for the better advertising and for the better activities for same.

27. (Q) What will be the best channel and manner for distributing the clocks? (A) These may be done through at least two channels, for those of such as make preparations for large advertising interests - as the Maxwell Company, or as of Bigelow Company, or through those agencies that have already been established by the various watch or clock companies that may be interested in making the product for this special distribution; for they would come naturally under the two heads, as has been indicated.

28. (Q) Any improvements recommended to make it still more? (A) Only the recommendation would be that it may be made so as to BE an advertising medium, as well as an interest in those that may be had in places where the necessary programs are for the use in same - see? that is, it may be a home as one product and it may be an advertising as for another product - but these must be CHANGED so as that in the home they would not be thought of as being given as an advertisement, or as a prize for something.

29. (Q) Who would be the best person to head up the general sales? (A) That had best be handled through whomever would be the manufacturer or the distributor of the product, and - as seen - these would classify themselves under two different heads.

30. (Q) When will business conditions show real improvement? (A) When there has been sufficient equalization of the interest of the various powers throughout the world as to a standardization of the monetary unite of the various countries. This will be at least six to nine months.

31. (Q) Will there be a change in the present president, Hoover, to carry the country for light wines and beer? (A) That will depend a great deal upon the circumstances and upon the conditions and things that are brought to bear on the various interests, or political parties in the country. As we find, there will not be a great deal of change in the personnel - but there will be a great deal of change as to what the DEMANDS will be, or there will be revolution! This doesn't mean riot, but a revolution as to the interests and demands of the various groups in various portions of the country.

32. (Q) Regarding [348] selling chemical products for Pittsburgh Chemical Co., what is best procedure to assure him success in opening accounts? [See 348-7, Par. R7.] (A) Get out and go to work at it!

33. (Q) What cities should he begin in first?

257-74 Page 6

(A) Depends upon what district he is to work!

34. (Q) North and South Carolina and Virginia. (A) In Richmond, in Fredericksburg, in Lynchburg, Bristol, Raleigh, Asheville, Columbia, Savannah, and such. Norfolk's distribution as a center, to be sure.

35. (Q) Regarding my dream of morning of Sept. 27th, please explain: I was with Seligman at a hospital where I was trying to sell. My father came out of an elevator, handed me in rather a stern way a bag of chickens and said "Sell them - you are wasting time!" I waited late and sold them. Later I began to tell Seligman about Cayce work, and we talked about Seligman's will. Then I was waiting for Seligman's secretary to give me some pointers when I awakened. [GD's note: This was a brief of his dream which he formed into a question as he thought it pertained to a current business deal. He did not mention the flags, and possibly other things, but EC recalled the flag part for him which had significance. See Par. 36-A.] (A) In this there are seen many emblematical conditions referring to the immediate surroundings, as respecting the various interests the body is interested in, as well as to how close conditions come to the home - as indicated by the fowls - though they were CLEAN, as is seen, in the sales as made; also indicating as to national and international affairs, as seen by the REPRESENTATIONS of same in the flags. Then the interests as may be indicated in same, that do not lose or waste time in working so many VARIOUS interests - but, as given, close some of them as you go along - see?

36. (Q) Why was my wife [903]'s name mentioned on the flags? (A) Those interests as were seen, also.

37. (Q) Has this any connection with Seligman and Cayce Hospital? (A) It may be made so, as was indicated by the waiting for - but the demand, that get busy on one and work one along as the other would come, see? As was also seen indicated by the flags, as that of the international, but with the NAMES on the flags would be a spreading of same, indicating as to one of, or portion of the company, or country, or representation these interests would be in - as the national broadcasting.

38. (Q) Is there any other advise my father offers in this connection? (A) Well that this be written - that is, as has been given - and, as is seen in the vision - study it over a time or two, and then that as advice will be given or presented direct.

39. (Q) Regarding Atomidine - If this is the proper time to merge Atomidine and Ipsab, how could it be accomplished?

257-74 Page 7

(A) Through the interests that might be created by those that have in hand those properties of the Atomidine.

40. (Q) What equipment is necessary to complete Atomidine? (A) This has been given. [See [1734] series, 257-69 and [358] series.]

41. (Q) What should be [1734]'s attitude and connection with the new company? (A) That would be best for his OWN decision, as his own interest and his own investments indicate as to whether those interests as held are to be carried on in the way that has been outlined for him, or whether he desires to change. That would be of his own making!

42. (Q) Could Pittsburgh Chemical Laboratories, and Geo. Schmidt & Norman Allerdyce, be interested to manufacture it? (A) Could be interested to manufacture them.

43. (Q) How should Norman Allerdyce of Pittsburgh be approached to interest him? (A) These interests, as has been seen, have as heretofore been rather that for the household products than of those that run into, or go into the medical field. Hence the variation of the products would be rather that as to individuals would be the approach, than as to profession.

44. (Q) Please advise us the best manner to immediately market Ipsab, for the best interests of Edgar Cayce? (A) These, as we find, have been outlined as to the manner, as to which would be the BETTER manner in which same should be manufactured, distributed, and made. Portions of these have been worked out in order, and approach has been made in some fields as respecting this. We would either do this [as in [1800] series?], or do it some other way!

45. (Q) Should [257]'s activity be used at this time to further the work? (A) As has been given to the body as respecting this, if it is so desired, then join in. If other ways are better, then find them!

46. (Q) How can Edwin Kaufman, of 44 W. 77th St., N.Y., be of greatest assistance to [257] and his interests? (A) There have been some interests in which the body has been interested with the body [257]. Let him show his worth or value by carrying out, or furthering those interests in such a way and manner as to show how he may be of the most value!

47. (Q) Reference Zerozone Jobbership, N.Y. - Should Philip Marcus be used in a house to house canvasing proposition? (A) This one way of doing it! May be very well. Depends upon the manner of approach that the body would make as concerning same! [11/4/31 See 279-11, Par. 7-A advising Mr.

257-74 Page 8

[279] to sell Zerozone refrigerators as a side issue in association with Mr. [257].]

48. (Q) Could the old piano customers of Sterling be interested in a large way in the purchase of refrigerators? (A) Provided the list was culled as respecting their responsibility and their ACTIVITIES as to the work they ARE doing in the present.

49. (Q) Should [257] consider representing the Starr Refrigerator Co. of Richmond, Ind., in N.Y.? is the box stable and reliable? (A) Well, there's a lot of changes got to be made before we would say it was reliable!

50. (Q) What aid could Marcus give me, and attorneys, in opening up the Sterling Furniture matter for the referees? to enable [257] to get his claim settled? (A) That will depend upon how much interest, or how much worth it would be to Marcus for the opening up of same. It'll be dog eat dog if you go it through this way.

51. (Q) Is it recommended, for [257]'s best interests? (A) We wouldn't see it as thus.

52. (Q) What advice will the Forces give [257] now to carry this on? (A) There are other channels through which these activities, as make the company liable for those advancements in these directions that may be gone through, rather than having to BUY one to go through! The Forces may be carried in force THROUGH this connection, but would not be well. Go through those as already been started, without having to buy Marcus.

53. (Q) Should Marcus be associated in any of [257]'s companies at this time? (A) He is in some; they won't change it as yet!

54. (Q) What further work can my wife, [903] - or study - do to make her have a radio success? (A) Put in practice that she has already had in this direction and in this line, would make a success.

55. (Q) What is the best type of work for her to do? (A) That which appeals to her most, and to her interests most!

56. (Q) What dramatic hour would have the greatest appeal? (A) Between the hours of three and five.

57. (Q) Is there any other advice for [257] in order to help him accomplish those things for the betterment of his family, friends and associates, to bring the business to a profitable end? (A) These, as asked, open up many questions as to that that might be given [257] as respecting same. The better way, or

257-74 Page 9

the advice as would be given as respecting [257]'s activities - no matter what may be those for bringing the things of the material world to the hand, or to the use of self, friends or associates, unless same is founded in TRUTH, and in the right direction, it MUST become in the end as dross. We are through. Copy to Self " " File " " Ass'n
