Time of Reading 10:40 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [257], who is in the lobby at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C., and who seeks information, advice and counsel, as to his mental and material affairs. You will answer the questions which he has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257]; this we have had before, as well as many of those circumstances, conditions mentally and materially, that confront the body at this time. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) When and where in Washington am I needed to get government business quick? (A) It is understood by the body that there are those continued activities in the varied departments of the government through which the body may have access, and the opportunity to submit bids on contracts for the varied commodities and conditions that are needed. As we have indicated, in those various channels and departments where there are at this time being presented those specifications that are NEEDED in the various departments - through any or all of these channels may the body at this time, now, serve in gaining the confidence, the access; and thus obtain his portion of the business, that is presented in the regular channels and regular way and manner. To be sure, there are those channels that offer the better OPPORTUNITY for the body than others; yet all of these should go through their proper channels. Do not cut self out of opportunity by attempting to undermine, underhand, or in ANY manner act in the way as to be called one that does such; nor as to cause less consideration than would be the regular channel of approach. To be sure, use those associations that allow for giving any

257-105 Page 2

idea or ideas as to the specifications and the like; and how and through what channels to make same. But do not undermine self.

4. (Q) Direct me today what to do, who to see, and what is the best business to get first. (A) Those that are in line with that which may be furnished through the regular channels of the body's operations, see? That is, do not attempt to make QUICK bids, or to make QUICK associations and connections to meet an emergency. But so act, so intrench self in the general activities, acquainting self with what the needs are to be in the various fields, as to be READY; without the necessity of making specific changes or connections to MEET the conditions. As we find in the present, or today, those connections that have to do with the furnishing of cloth, with the furnishing of washing machines, and with the further orders in the refrigeration - because there'll be the necessity of the larger boxes as well as those of a general line.

5. (Q) What can I do now to get refrigeration business in Washington? (A) Meet the needs of the specifications required, which - as we find - will be more in line with those where the requirements are for STORAGE, rather than the smaller activities.

6. (Q) With what department is it best to work? (A) As known by the body, DEPARTMENTS come under varied heads. The general quartermaster division with its various departments, to be sure, is the one to work through.

7. (Q) What errors have I made thus far in business management? (A) In reference to Washington, they have been in the attempt to meet requirements that are outside of the immediate association and activities of the body's efforts. And in the attempt also to use those methods that are by MANY considered as an underhand way and manner. In correcting them, then, make bids for those commodities and needs that are in line with the efforts of the body; which, to be sure, includes those where preparations and connections have been made for MEETING the specific conditions - see? But don't make the specific conditions, that are necessary to be made, too great a question and thus undo most that has been done!

8. (Q) Name the man who can have metal houses adopted for forest use instead of tents, such as I have in mind? (A) That man who is in charge directly of supplying the care of those that are to be engaged in this part of the

257-105 Page 3

work, as they go FROM the various encampments in portions of the country - see? This may be easily obtained (the man). In some of these connections it will be hard to convince those in that specific charge, yet - as we find - in MANY of these, especially those in the west, in the northwest, where they will be sent, will be interested; and may be made those that the body may interest in using such equipment. Do not hinder self by making promises that are even questionable to self! But these metal houses can be used.

9. (Q) Who is the one man who has the "say" in the War Department, that I should see? (A) The ONE man is THAT man who has charge of putting out this very thing that we have given!

10. (Q) Advise me whether to approach him direct, or through whom I should go. (A) Approach him direct, through introduction from any of those that have been or are associated in this direct department.

11. (Q) Is there a better man than Capt. Lewis to represent me in all government matters where business is wanted? (A) In various departments and fields, he is very well as one that may aid. Yet, when there is the introduction by Capt. Lewis and the approach is to someone in a higher capacity, as understood by the body, that introduction often means little, on account of the animosity or feeling that is held in this branch of service. And an introduction, a word from one higher in authority - though such an one may HAVE been and is not now in an active association in that department of service - is worth much more. As for one who may be a scout, or a lookout man, Lewis is very good.

12. (Q) What is the next move with Jack Callahan in building the laundry machinery that the Forces informed us Briggs should make? (A) These activities should go on through those regular channels, or that is - get the specifications (that are always delivered, see), make the bids through that same channel. Do not attempt to undermine self's own work by getting special favors.

13. (Q) How many of them will be bought? (A) This has already been indicated.

257-105 Page 4

14. (Q) Will Jack McKeon of the Biltmore in N.Y., now at the Willard Hotel in Washington, be able to help me in Washington? (A) In introduction, yes. In some of the things that have been promised by him, no.

15. (Q) What should I say to him now in Washington? (A) To show the works, that's all!

16. (Q) Advise me what else will be bought immediately in large quantities, that I will be able to sell government. (A) This should be the job of those that the body is keeping on field for this purpose!

17. (Q) What can I do now to get refrigeration business in Washington? (A) As indicated, those activities have already been let - or specifications already made on the smaller boxes. MAKE the connections that those of the larger or STORAGE machines or boxes may be supplied.

18. (Q) Should I disclose my plans in full to Walter Conger, Vice-President of Truscon Steel, who is now at the Willard Hotel in Washington? (A) Be well that he be consulted; and, as indicated, do not make or attempt to obtain too much of the orders - or even bids - on those propositions too much OUTSIDE of the interests! for you belittle self, you endanger self's interests, and you lose the confidence of the individuals with whom you are working! Then, why WOULDN'T IT BE WELL to work WITH Conger and not undermine self?

19. (Q) How should I handle the man with whom I talking at the present time? (A) You're not talking with anyone at the present!

20. (Q) Please check activities of the [257] Corp., and tell us what is necessary for myself, Marcus, [1565] and Gerl to do now to make a success of the business? (A) As we find, in the general, the activities of all concerned have been - and are - much better than they have shown at some former periods. And we would continue to work in the same way and manner that we have presented that the policies of the organization should be. That some differences have arisen in the manner of approach with Gerl and those associated with him, by the overlapping of activities on the part of those that have been held as confidential agents (and that hard feelings have been caused), is evidenced by that which has been happening. If the body will refer to that which has been given to him and his associates through these sources, he will see that warnings have been given concerning these very things.

257-105 Page 5

As to the activities with Gerl in the present, as we find, these may be gone into and straightened in such a manner as to be satisfactory; unless there is too much hardheadedness on the part of [257], Marcus and others. If there is the determination that there is no longer to be connections in this direction, then - necessarily - changes will need to be made that will meet the situations. Yet, as we have given, these policies are NOT good - that there is the overlapping of activities on the part of special individuals, or special groups, that tend to defeat the purposes of the organization! As we have given, each should be given their definite activity; and the activities should be left in the hands of those. If they are not competent, then why have them in the first place? But why defeat self's own purposes, and those of the associates, by undermining self and those of the associates, by the use of underhand activity?

21. (Q) If I accept Gerl's resignation, should I plan to do the work myself? (A) That will depend upon just how great the planning is done, or how great expansion is done. If accepted, it will be NECESSARY for the body to do the work - for the present, at least! Because there's been anger, it does not necessarily mean that the break is to go further; because these conditions may be overcome, provided they are set properly - and, as we find, it would be better for the ORGANIZATION! But, if it is impossible, then don't attempt to run on those cases where there has already been a fire kindled; because it'll eventually eat through again! Get rid of it! Get rid of it by getting rid of the animosity and those that produce it!

22. (Q) Where is the best business? (A) Wherever it may be obtained, is the BEST business! There are many channels. This covers such a great expanse, it defeats even the

257-105 Page 6

purpose for which it is asked! There are specific associations and connections that have been made in many various channels. These need to be worked out in their regular way and order. Being PREPARED, or fitting self and knowing what is to be, should be - and has been - that job of the body itself, [257]. And then, as these are laid out and the various individuals are put onto the job, don't interfere so much - as to cause disruption.

23. (Q) What price is necessary to land the Metropolitan Life Ins. Co. order for boxes? (A) Eighty-four to ninety.

24. (Q) What man will have the final say? (A) It hasn't changed, as we find, from that we have given before!

25. (Q) How and what must I do now to get this order for 2,000 boxes? (A) Go after it, and offer it in the proper way and manner. We have outlined as to WHAT is necessary. That the test has been made and is satisfactory is evident, by there being even the approach again. Then, make the price satisfactory - and the SERVICING of same satisfactory.

26. (Q) How many years guarantee and service necessary to furfurnish, and what price? (A) Two years. The price has been given.

27. (Q) Who is best man with which to work now in the Metro- politan organization? (A) It still hasn't changed!

28. (Q) What can I do now to finally close R. H. Macy & Co. on refrigeration? (A) Another case of where some tests must be made; that is, the placing of various boxes, and as to the service, and as to the requirements - meeting the requirements for the Macy Company.

29. (Q) Who is the best man there with which to work now? (A) Through the regular channel.

30. (Q) What argument and plan will aid [1565] to close Geo. Clauson of Hibbard, Spencer & Bartlett, Chicago? (A) Just the service plan, and the activities necessary. Well, there's been some mix-up - some misunderstanding - But, if there is presented the proper service, the proper price - that has been agreed upon - these negotiations, as we find, may be closed by [1565].

257-105 Page 7

31. (Q) Who caused the condition between Clauson and [1565]? [My bro.-in-law.] (A) Some of the individuals in the department, as their activity for the efforts to get someone else IN. This [1565] can overcome, by the genial activities and associations that have brought about the connection.

32. (Q) What was said to Clauson to cause this change? (A) "Well, get out!"

33. (Q) Reference Universal name, what should I do to protect myself against the attack of Launders, Frary & Clark who also have universal name? (A) Protect self through the contract with the Universal, which gives the privilege of using same. Best, however, that this be followed rather in that manner given sometime ago. Go back and READ what was given respecting the name, and as to what troubles might be expected - and what to do when they did arise. Then act on it. Don't come begging now, unless you have done right!

34. (Q) Will they by able in any way to affect my business? (A) They certainly will, unless it's made straight! Go back and read what was given, as to how it should be handled. The names, and how they should be chosen - how they should be stuck to! If the Universal was chosen, as to what were the necessary conditions to be acted on with those that presented - or who are the manufacturers and distributors of - the unit, see?

35. (Q) What N.Y. lawyer is best to handle Universal patent suit? (A) Those that have been and are in this kind or character of work, with whom the body has been and is associated.

36. (Q) What advantage in having the firm of Brandey-Gilbert of N.Y. to handle it? (A) Why get into this sort of scrap now? It's continually scrap - scrap - scrap! Get it straight first, and don't HAVE the scraps! or spend all that is gained through the advantage of having underhand methods, or working in or attempting to use something that's been built by someone else!

37. (Q) Should I attempt to cut down my organization, or will the present plans work out to keep it intact? (A) The present plans will work out, IF the organization - and each ONE associated with same - does its part of the work! Those that can't deliver, cut out!

257-105 Page 8

38. (Q) Should I make efforts to further curtail in my home affairs, or will I be able to carry on? (A) Carry on, provided there is the cooperation throughout the organization that we have indicated is necessary.

39. (Q) Should I cut down any of my life insurance, or will I be able to carry on? (A) As we find, it will be necessary for the deferment of a payment on some of these that come due in the next month, or the next sixty days; but we would not, other than defer it.

40. (Q) What is the next move and plan for assisting the Cayce work in N.Y., to be handled by Mr. [333]? (A) This is being worked out. [See 254-64 and 254-65.]

41. (Q) What organizations should be contacted for this meeting? (A) All of those that are interested in the ideals and purposes of the organization.

42. (Q) Who should be the speakers? (A) Those that can speak best on the Work, or that can best present that which IS the ideal.

43. (Q) Are there any foundations in N.Y. that would help the work that [333] and I have in mind? (A) Seek them out! There are plenty there!

44. (Q) Was the Cayce Foundation idea laid out properly? (A) That's to be seen, when it's presented all together in one!

45. (Q) What further advice for this development? (A) There needs to be some cooperation and some settlement of fixed purposes, that are more in keeping with that which has been set as the ideals of the organization.

46. (Q) Should I attempt to sell paint and general supplies now, or stick to the refrigeration and housing proposition? (A) As we have oft given, it would be well for the body to stick closer to those propositions that are in hand. But, as we have given, when there is the OPPORTUNITY presented - that fits in WITH that being accomplished, and may be made a part of it - don't turn it down! But don't lose time seeking OUT these things. Let them rather seek the body.

47. (Q) How can I get metal cots adopted for Truscon? (A) By presenting them, showing their varied services and their adaptability in the various places where they may be used; putting several in as demonstrations, see?

48. (Q) How many of them can I sell, and to whom? (A) Wherever they are used they may be sold! As to how many, depends upon how WELL they are sold!

257-105 Page 9

49. (Q) Any further advice for this body? (A) Keep in touch with that that HAS been presented through these sources, in many of those things that disturb the body. It would be very well that such information be lined up in such a way and manner that it may be referred to (all that which has been given from time to time) respecting many of those things that confront the body at present. And, through this, the body will be able to ask more specific questions; as well as to judge for self as to what is to be done under many of the local entanglements within the organization - with individuals, as well as to the approach to those outside.
