Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. N.Y.C.
1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [257], who is in Room 524 of the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C., and who seeks information, advice and guidance, as to his physical health, his mental and material affairs. You will answer the questions which he has submitted, as I ask them.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257]; this we have had before.
3. Now, in the physical forces of the body we find some acute conditions have arisen that need prompt attention, if there will be the better reactions and the least of disorders that might later prove detrimental to the body - unless these conditions are removed.
4. Under stress and strain of physical and mental activity, with the arising or accumulations of cold and congestion, there are in the muscular forces of the body - especially across the diaphragm and lumbar area - those congestions and contractions that, with accumulations of poisons in the ascending and transverse colon, make for ACUTE conditions. [Colitis?]
5. These may be eliminated in this manner, as to eradicate the disturbance and the causes for same; for, if these are only partially removed, and the muco-membranes of the intestinal system become infected - as well as the pressure exercised by the congestion allowed to remain on those of the functioning organs - there must necessarily be left an incentive for a return of conditions and be very APT to produce such coagulations or centralizations in organs themselves as to disturb the better equilibrium of the system.
6. We would begin first with taking an eliminant, PREFERABLY, as we find, in small doses of Fletcher's Castoria. Large quantities will not be helpful, though immediate pain might be relieved after three to five hours. We would take a teaspoonful every hour until at least a
257-108 Page 2
bottle and a half of the Castoria has been taken, or twelve hundred drops. [5/13/33 See 257-109 indicating he took it improperly.]
7. Also we would have a sweat cabinet bath, followed with a rubdown and salt rum bath; that is, the steaming of the body rubbed with salt - and the rub alcohol and oils following.
8. For this treatment it will require that the body rest or relax from general activities for at least one whole day, else we will find that the mental and the physical will NOT respond to the energies that may be called upon in the activities of the physical body.
9. Be mindful, too, that the diet is not too heavy; nor spasmodic. Do not leave off one meal and eat heavily at another, but have the meals at regular times - and well-balanced. Do not eat too much meats, but more of the vegetables - or a well-balanced diet.
10. Do this, and we will find we will rid the system of these conditions at this time.
11. An inflammation of the muco-membranes, and involving the caecum area, is not to be played with! Remove the conditions! [GD's note: See 257-220 on 4/7/40 in re malignant tumor in colon for which surgery was later performed. He died of cancer of colon on 12/7/68.]
12. Ready for questions.
13. (Q) Will it be necessary to take more than one sweat bath? (A) If these are taken occasionally for two or three weeks it would be better, but the one for the immediate condition should be sufficient with the taking of the other things suggested.
14. (Q) Should the bath be taken along with the Castoria, or afterwards? (A) Take it along with the Castoria, so that the properties in the Castoria may be absorbed more or be sweat THROUGH the system.
15. (Q) Should any exercise be taken? (A) When the sweat and rubdowns are taken, it'll give the body a good deal of exercise for the time being! As given, there should be a general rest for the body, for at least one day.
16. (Q) In reference to Washington, what should I do these two days to close up the matter I have in Washington? (A) There are those individuals and those channels through whom the negotiations are to be consummated. The plans have been set as to who to see, how to conduct the campaign - as it were - for the immediate activity. So, carry these out!
17. (Q) How can I get Daniels to come through with the dye contract?
257-108 Page 3
(A) As we have given, when Daniels is satisfied with the quality and character, and the price of the work, then there should be no trouble in coming through - or closing the deal.
18. (Q) In what way should I deal with Daniels successfully, considering the unsatisfactory things that have happened in the past week? (A) As we have given, as was given in the warning respecting same, there must be the satisfying in the mind and in the conditions de facto, that the deal may be carried through in the way and manner set forth in the specifications for such an undertaking.
19. (Q) What should I do to get the 500 water cooler rental contract? (A) Present the proposition in the way and manner specified for such negotiations, and have the courage to wait; knowing that the offer for the best proposition will be acceptable.
20. (Q) Who will have the final say in the matter? (A) Williams.
21. (Q) In reference the electrical stove, how can I bring that to a final head? (A) This, as we find, should be carried through the Westinghouse people. The associations and connections, the product, and the types, are more in line and in keeping with the specifications, as we find.
22. (Q) Who is the proper man on the garden tools? (A) Williams.
23. (Q) Am I progressing in the proper way with Lewis? (A) Not altogether satisfactory to Lewis, but the conditions that have been set will be better for the final outcome of the associations and connections of self with Lewis.
24. (Q) Am I handling the matter in the proper manner? (A) Except for those things that have been as warnings, and as indicated here.
25. (Q) Will Lewis be able to produce the business laid out between he and I? (A) If he doesn't, then let him get out of the way!
26. (Q) What other important department should I contact while in Washington? (A) The regular channels through which those may be furnished by the body and associations, and connections.
27. (Q) Is General Bosch or Colonel Guiney the right man with whom to work in construction work in the Quartermaster division? (A) Guiney.
28. (Q) What can I sell the Veterans' Division in large quantities at this time? (A) Look over the specifications and needs, and see that
257-108 Page 4
which may be handled! Through the associations and connections should be the manner in which to handle such, for - as we have outlined - all such conditions must be handled in regular order!
29. (Q) Should I go with Berg [Wm. M. Berg, Ph.T.?] and Lewis at this time into the fever unit at the Walter Reed Hospital? (A) We do not find it advisable under the present situations.
30. (Q) Please advise me if the [257] Corp., is carrying on in the proper manner, and advise what changes, if any, should be made - considering the present business coming in. (A) The GENERAL conditions surrounding the organization, as we find, are not altogether satisfactory. While those in some specific quarters, or activities of some individuals, are very good, these should be made - as we have insisted and insisted - to COORDINATE in their associations and activities in all directions! These will bring for much more satisfactory results in every way and manner. As this: Some have (these are the representatives, to be sure) been stalling along with the various associations and connections that have been made. Demand, or require (not demand, in the manner of give or take, but for) proper considerations, proper relations, to be kept in an equitable way and manner, that each and every individual PRODUCE that necessary for the bringing about of better conditions for the association and organization.
31. (Q) Should I plan to go to San Antonia, Texas, to see Colonel Chambers on emergency supplies? (A) This should be well considered. Provided there is sufficient leeway, or - that is - as this: Much of the emergency supplies will require that certain specific conditions be met. Some are outside the ken of the activities of the body and associates. If the amount appears, within the ken and activities of the body, to be sufficient to require such a trip, then do so.
32. (Q) Will I be able to get the order on 411 kitchen cabinets for which bid has been placed, and which is now at the Bureau of Standards for tests? (A) Provided these measure up, you will have the opportunity to compete with - and will receive the order; if they measure up.
33. (Q) Advise me the next step on this order. (A) Wait.
34. (Q) Please advise me how I should handle the details of my business, so as to be successful in various fields.
257-108 Page 5
(A) This has been outlined, as to how to make for the better cooperation among all associated and connected with the details of the SALES organization.
35. (Q) Any other advice for this body? (A) Be mindful of the physical conditions at the present time. As for the general conditions, keep in the way and manner that has oft been given, "As ye mete out, it will be measured to you again."
