Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Body & enquiring mind, etc.)
1. EC: Yes, we have those conditions that surround the body, [257]; these we have had before.
2. Ready for questions.
3. (Q) Why does blood emerge from my body? (A) Over purging.
4. (Q) What further precautions should I take to correct my physical condition? (A) Best had there been done what was given in the first, and then there would not be so many precautions to take in the present; for the warning has been given to take the time! [See 257-108 on 5/11/33 advising small doses rather than purging doses Castoria.]
5. (Q) What should I do at the present time? (A) If you haven't done what was given, why should there be more given in the present?
6. (Q) Regarding Washington, why was it that Capt. Lewis stated there would be no uniforms dyed, while Daniels stated there would be? (A) Cross-purposes.
7. (Q) Will there be, or will there not? (A) There will.
8. (Q) Why does one say one thing and one another? (A) One knows; the other doesn't - but surmises.
9. (Q) What is the situation between them, and how should I treat it? (A) As given, there are those regular channels through which all such activities MUST take their course. These, as known by the body, should be followed rather than going around or through some other source.
10. (Q) About Briggs Mfg. Co. desiring to handle the matter direct, should I go to Detroit and get this straightened out? or would a trip to N.Y. by a Briggs' representative be best? (A) More satisfactory arrangements may be made, of course, by the direct going to the home office - or to Detroit, than
257-109 Page 2
by a representative; but the associations and connections have been such that this should be easily arranged.
11. (Q) Should Jack Harris continue to handle our sales in N.Y.? (A) That depends upon circumstances, and the connections and associations that are involved in these changes. These are questions that involve so many situations, that in most either direction yes would be wrong or no would be wrong - unless there are some other changes made.
12. (Q) Can I handle the Washington situation, with my present understanding, without the assistance of Lewis? (A) As given, it could be handled better!
13. (Q) By what department will 500 water coolers be rented, that Lewis mentioned? (A) We do not find 500 water coolers being rented, though there has been the specification or the tentative set-up for the furnishing or supplying of 500 water coolers for the various departments that are to have consideration at this specific time. These, as we find, will come through the general supply company, or organization for the general supply.
14. (Q) What day will they be advertised? (A) When they are ready, or when the conditions are sufficiently far advanced to determine as to where and when these are to be distributed. The specifications for these, as we have said, have been drawn; they may be presented at any time.
15. (Q) How can I consummate this deal? (A) If the instructions have been followed closely as to how the proper contacts are made through these various channels, in the supplying of any commodity within the line of the body's activities, the body would be notified of these specifications being prepared immediately. These may come through the regular channels, as we have indicated.
16. (Q) To what Government department should I devote most of my time in the next week, for the largest volume of business? (A) In the War departments, that go through the Quartermaster division.
17. (Q) Will the washing machines be taken care of by Briggs and be shipped properly? (A) If the order is given, if the correct arrangements are made, they will be taken care of.
18. (Q) What should I do at once to protect myself as to my arrangements? (A) This has already been indicated, that there must be the satisfactory arrangements made with the manufacturer. If these are to be bid on direct by Briggs, what opportunity has the body? unless the associations have justified, do
257-109 Page 3
justify, him having consideration - see?
19. (Q) With whom should I make this deal, Callahan or Manning? (A) As you've been going through Callahan, would you swap in the middle of the stream?
20. (Q) Will it be possible for me to work out my business during the year without going thru the bankruptcy proceeding, or even the settlement? (A) This has been gone over again and again, as to the justifiableness of the body in the activities, in the various sources; and there has been given again and again the manner in which the body would find the most satisfactory activities, if these suggestions would be followed. These you have chosen to either partially or, in some cases in others, wholly disregarded. Now work it out for yourself!
21. We are through.
