Time of Reading Newcastle Hotel, 11:50 to 12:15 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Va. Bch., Va. (Body & enquiring mind, physical & mental well-being - Questions.)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257].
2. In the physical forces of the body, these we find much improved from that as we have had here before. While these are not at all times wholly satisfactory, if there will be taken those precautions regarding the diet, the rest, the physical and mental exercises and activities of the body, that we have outlined and considered so often for the well-being of the body-physical, the conditions will respond and there will be a better reaction throughout the whole system.
3. As we find, those conditions that have arisen as mental worriments, as material and physical entanglements, have brought for the body a mental unrest and a tendency for an aggravation of the general nerve system in such ways and manners as to be at times very detrimental to the whole physical body's well-being; yet these conditions, as we find, will - within the next few weeks - so adjust themselves as to be much more satisfactory, with the carrying on of the activities of those that have been sponsoring and that are aiding in making both for the adjustments and the changes in relationships from those sources of endeavors that have caused disruptions and worriments; for these will be adjusted, and there will also be those associations and connections in the material and commercial affairs that should bring most satisfactory returns or results to the activities of the body.
4. Then, all things taken into consideration, with the adjustments of the material associations, there should be brought a much better mental, material, physical welfare to the body.
5. Take precautions in all those directions that have been outlined, not being any more extravagant with the physical
257-113 Page 2
well-being and the mental activities and abilities than with the more commercial or material natures.
6. Ready for questions.
7. (Q) Should I remain in N.Y. for closing of 500 water cooler deal with Capt. Lewis and Washington officials? (A) As we find, there has been some little hitch on account of interests that are necessary in same, but these are more of a social than of a material nature. And, we find that there will be carried through almost in toto the whole proposed order or situation. As to whether this will require the activity of the body [257] in Washington or in New York, as yet has not been wholly determined; but, as we find, it may be closed in New York Friday or Monday.
8. (Q) Why is Capt. Lewis on his way to Washington now from [?] near Troy, N.Y.? (A) As indicated, there have been some hitches. As we find, these are more from social activities of others, rather than from other sources - but the surety, or the necessity of the presence of Lewis is demanded by LEWIS' activities - rather than from the others.
9. (Q) Will it be safe for [257] to remain in Va. Beach until he hears from Lewis? (A) Provided there is made known to Lewis the whereabouts of self.
10. (Q) Was it sufficient to send the telegram to his home in Washington today? (A) This should be sufficient, as we find; unless other conditions arise.
11. (Q) Should the order be handled as [257] personal, or [257] Corp., or under what billing name should it be handled? (A) [257] Corporation, when all conditions are considered in the activities of others. These having been set in the proper way and manner, to make alterations would make the appearances of being something under cover (with the Government or with those seeking to find fault).
12. (Q) Will it be necessary for [257] to resign as president of the [257] Corp., during the period of present court procedures against him by the [3734]'s? (A) If all conditions are carried on as set, as we find, this would not be necessary; with the proper precautions taken, of course, about the activities of [257].
13. (Q) What will Jack Gilbert be able to accomplish between the [[900] & [137]]s and [257]? (A) As indicated, as we find, unless there are material changes in the minds of individuals (and, of course, this is
257-113 Page 3
possible), there will be an amicable agreement and settlement made by all parties concerned.
14. (Q) Between the [3734]s and [257]? (A) This is one and the same.
15. (Q) Again viewing the present circumstances and all conditions thereto, should I permit further delay as suggested by Gilbert? (A) Provided all conditions are kept in the proper tone; that is, the associations, connections and activities of self should be kept in the manner that has been set as being unquestioned or unquestionable - as to the associations and activities of the body, see?
16. (Q) Please advise what I should do now, or immediately upon my arrival in N.Y., to further this. (A) Make more sure the arrangements that have been set in motion through Gilbert as to the status of the situation.
17. (Q) Will all the creditors be handled as arranged? (A) This is rather beggaring the question, from what we have given; that - from conditions set - all things, all connections, would be handled in an amicable manner! To be sure, there is the possibility of changes; for, as we have given, individuals may - entities may - change their minds. Even the Father may not know what a soul may do with himself from day to day! Though, as all conditions are set in the present, with the present intent and purpose, there should be reached an amicable settlement.
18. (Q) Will it be necessary for me to go to Chicago to join [bro.-in-law] [1565], who is at the Furniture Mart at present in Room 847? (A) As we have indicated, there will be some connections made through this period where the activities of [257] would be very beneficial to the ultimate result of these connections and associations. These, of course, should not jeopardize the activities in New York as related to settlement of conditions there; neither should they interfere with the closing of those associations and connections with the Government. Yet, they should be considered and carried on as soon as it is possible for this to be carried out, see?
19. (Q) Should I meet with Mr. Dunn of the Manufacturers Trust this week to discuss taking over the Carolina Wood Products Co., as suggested by them? (A) This would not be amiss, but there certainly should be the clarification of many situations and conditions in the affairs, associations and connections of [257], before there would be any definite terms, agreements or arrangements made
257-113 Page 4
respecting this. And when these ARE made, they should be more in the line of [257] as AGENT than as ASSUMING the responsibility without the financial aid or backing of the organization. To be sure, this is intended; yet do not allow the activities to be other than [257] distributing at a certain figure so much, or so great an amount of the product or production of the company - see?
20. (Q) In other words, I should have the exclusive selling agency for the factory? (A) That's the idea.
21. (Q) And they should do all the financing? (A) They should; and do not let self become responsible for other than that as may be the activities of self itself, see?
22. (Q) Should I ask for a drawing account on this arrangement? (A) This should be on the basis, to be sure, of production - or of sales of production as it proceeds.
23. (Q) Considering my various interests, as the Forces view them, wherein should I place most of my effort during the next 60 days to insure financial freedom for the balance of the year? (A) This might be very well drawn from that which has just been given. The first consideration would be the connections with the Government, or the water coolers. Then the clarifying of the troublesome conditions that have caused mental worry in connection with others. Then making the arrangements or meeting with those new connections, and there will be one in particular in Chicago, at this time.
24. (Q) What will be the important meeting in Chicago that [257] should give his individual attention to? (A) Meeting some of those individuals with whom, through whom, some accounts in all the various activities of [257] may be made. As to names of these, as we find, there are some old - but particularly some new connection. As to the name, we do not find it - but there must be some work done by [257]. It will require his attention, else these would not have been presented this way!
257-113 Page 5
Do as we have outlined regarding the mental and physical well-being of self. Do not sleep on any of those connections or associations with those that would cause trouble, but insist that they be carried through in every way that has been set out; insuring self at all times against such - not as dodging, but as keeping self unquestionable in the activities.
25. (Q) Is the Paris Medicine matter proceeding as it should through Judge Olvany's office in N.Y.? (A) Proceeding slow, but sure - as we find. May be a compromise on this, as we find, by September.
26. (Q) Will [257]'s remuneration be safe from the [257] Corp. from legal attack, if he only receives travelling expenses from time to time? (A) As we find, it should be. If there is any loophole through this we do not find it, in a legal sense.
27. (Q) How does Mr. Johnson of Universal Cooler Co. of Detroit feel to body now? (A) It's a very satisfactory association and connection; as indicated by the activities and speech of Johnson in association and connection in various associations.
28. (Q) How does Julius Kahn of Truscon Steel? (A) Still wondering, but more optimistic than he has been.
29. (Q) Is there any other advice for [257] at this time? (A) He will have his hands full doing these, but don't worry about 'em! Happy days are coming again!
