Time of Reading Apt. 14-W, 8:20 to 8:50 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Body & enquiring mind. Questions.)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257]; this we have had before, those conditions physical and those associations about the body.
2. Ready for questions.
3. (Q) In my association with Louis Elliman of Suite 1515, 405 Lexington Ave., did I do the businesslike way in insisting on him reducing to writing his arrangement with me, or how should I have handled it? (A) Correctly handled.
4. (Q) Will I be able to depend on Elliman keeping his word as to forming a corporation, as he stated to Lande and to Weisburgh? (A) Provided there is carried out in other directions those conditions that will make it to the advantage of Elliman. As seen, it is dependent upon how well the associations can be made which will necessitate or require the forming of the corporation.
5. (Q) If he does not - (A) (Interrupting) This is precluding conditions. The way to handle it is to see that all those things agreed upon by self and associates would be brought about, that would insure the forming of corporation in the proper manner.
6. (Q) Should I attempt to turn this contract over to Ungerleider or find another way to work with Elliman? (A) This is precluding many considerations. As given the body respecting these associations, if this is a portion of the agreement with Elliman - that it is to be handled through another source or channel, or this particular office of Ungerleider, well that this be done. If it is as intimated, that there would be the going out of other individuals and the making of other associations and connections such as to make an INDEPENDENT association for this - You see, it's the body selling out self for things that are not exactly in keeping with that promised Elliman!
7. (Q) Is Elliman the proper calibre and type of man for me
257-132 Page 2
to have as an associate? (A) Dependent upon what type of association is desired! Elliman will be just as fair and square as self will be in the association! Is that the kind of man you want to deal with - with self? In all of the associations? He will meet the conditions just as you will!
8. (Q) Did I make the approach to Ungerleider as suggested by the Forces, and what will be the outcome? (A) Partially so, but it has been left entirely open so that there is nothing as yet BINDING in the conversation. It has all been left entirely in the air! There should be, as we have indicated heretofore for the carrying through of all the associations here, either some verbal agreement or something in writing; rather than saying, "Now, I'll do this for you and I'll expect you to help me." Has there been any answer to it? Not yet!
9. (Q) When should I bring to Ungerleider's attention that he made a deal with my people - Bronfman's from Canada - in which both sides promised to take care of me if deal was made - and it was made? (A) When it has been outlined just how this should be brought; that there is a definite agreement - either verbally or written - that there will be through this association the placing of orders or connections in a way that there should be a certain percent allowed to the body for making the connections, and INCLUDING in same that which has already been brought about!
10. (Q) In what capacity would it be profitable to me to associate with Sam Ungerleider? (A) As we have indicated, this depends upon how much time and how deep the body mentally and physically desires to engage in this character of activity. If it is to be used only as a side issue, expect a side issue profit from same. If it is to be given certain definite times, for certain activities or agreements for same, then the associations or connections can be made. But, as we have indicated for the greater activities in this line, study those things regarding the distribution and HOW in the various territories!
11. (Q) What results will I get from my letter to Solomon & Wolf in reference their handling Ungerleider's products under private brands? (A) Provided these are made agreeable, but - as we find - there has already been some approach through another channel for this same sort of connection. Going through some other individual that is a representative of the Distillers,

Incorporated.
12. (Q) Will I have to return to Chicago to see them or will they come to N.Y. to meet Ungerleider? (A) They will come to New York.
13. (Q) Where best place? (A) If they come to New York, it'll be the best place in New York!
14. (Q) Can and will Jack Lewis actually produce the water cooler order for me? (A) As indicated (and this should be looked into by the body), there have been the appropriations for the handling of these conditions. Because of a change in the prices that have been indicated, there is in the mind that this may be placed elsewhere. Look into it! Will he produce it? If you make him!
15. (Q) Is there anything wrong with my plan to go to Washington and see - (A) (Interrupting) No.
16. (Q) What additional advice for me to use in this presentation? (A) If you'll use that we have given, it is full and complete! There must be the indications from the citizenry, and through the regular channel through which such a position or condition is granted. It is now a good time, since there has been the appropriation for not only the opening of those that have been closed but for just such a situation. If there has been the provision by those associated with the body in the vicinity, or in Asheville, that it will fill those places as indicated, there will be no trouble. If there hasn't been, you are losing time!
17. (Q) What changes in proposal made out and in my portfolio at home? (A) Just necessary to fill it in just as we have given! That's how much change!
18. (Q) Will Peter Rathvon hold the factory proposition open for me, or has he other ideas for disposal of property? (A) He hasn't. He has ideas, but there's no disposal. Depends upon how soon the activities are going into effect.
19. (Q) Is it better to work with David Goldman or Rathvon or Edward Weisel? (A) Rathvon.
20. (Q) According to present conditions, government situation and Morris's plans, when will the money be available and the factory purchased? (A) WHEN it has been presented in the manner that has been indicated! You won't get it without it! For it is NECESSARY that this indication come and be ratified by the regular channel through which such things go! Going over

top of heads or around corners - well, you meet yourself already coming back without anything!
21. (Q) Will Asheville plant be benefited by the new money to be spent on remodeling of American Homes? (A) Not so much homes, as the revivifying closed plants.
22. (Q) Considering all business, am I better off pushing the Asheville situation and devoting all my time to furniture, or better to develop liquor business? (A) Which would you rather be in, the liquor business or the furniture business? This must be decided within self. If there is plenty of time given, either one or the other. But mixing these up, well - they don't exactly mix; because if one spills on the other, you see what it usually does! And this is a very good illustration of what happens when they are mixed together; they don't work! It's true that one may be used in between, until there is the setting up of the other. But they DO NOT mix together!
23. (Q) In what way could I be successful by forming an association with Ralph Jonas? (A) There's many various channels through which this could be made very helpful. But many of the things now being considered would have to be forgotten. Forget it, until you have decided upon one or the other, or what you are going to do; except for those things where you act in the capacity only as one that is carrying out orders for Jonas, as you have in other associations of the same character and nature.
24. (Q) How will I be able to be successful with the patented screen for attachment with a patented device, to casement windows? (A) Get someone else to handle it for you. The best way you can be successful is to get somebody else to do it! Or be able to make it in your own plant when you have it!
25. (Q) Who would be suggested to work this? (A) Anyone that's in that line of business?
26. (Q) How large is the market for a screen of this type that can be sold for about one-fourth of present type casement screen? (A) This is how large it may be made to be, by those who are able to present it. There's sufficient territory!
27. (Q) How can this be handled as part of Carolina project? (A) As being made there, as we have indicated.
28. (Q) Considering Morris & Washington plan, Ralph Jonas connections with owning company, O. E. Landstrom of Rockford, Ill., who wants to join me, which plan will be best and surest for me to follow through for my best interests and that of my associates? Or best combinations? (A) Not best in combinations. Choose that which you would
257-132 Page 5
like to do. You have worked so far in the Asheville plan. Either do it, or get someone of the other and make the associations and connections in those directions!
29. (Q) Reference loan on Albert Pick stock, who would be best person to see at once to get sufficient income to carry on until something comes through? (A) Someone in those quarters where this is used as a medium of exchange or loan valuations. For it would be either in Cincinnati or Chicago.
30. (Q) What did Forces have in mind when stating Ungerleider would aid me to get money and plenty of it in twenty days, if I saw him? (A) But it was given as to the provisions as to how and why this would be done. Have you done so? Not yet! Just to look at him or talk with him, or say that the plans are working, that doesn't get anything! You have to present orders and associations! in such a way and manner as to bring these! And this could have been done! You've had it in your hands; what have you done with it!
31. (Q) Considering loans made to Ike Lande, how can he aid me now to get sufficient capital to carry on until my business is re-established? (A) Using that very thing as the basis for obtaining the loan to aid in carrying on!
32. (Q) Why am I seemingly unable to consummate my plans? (A) Haven't consecrated self, or concentrated in one direction. You are getting afraid of self.
33. (Q) What can I do to improve my ability mentally to see some of my plans work out? (A) Concentrate on one specific activity. Don't fool self because of being treated nicely, or on a nice shovel passed on out, but seeing them active in the way and manner as you would. How was the first given, "As ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them." Represent things in such a way and manner that you can go back and pick them up and they'll look exactly as you left them!
34. (Q) Have I physically improved? (A) Much better.
35. (Q) Should I resume sweats and rubbing? (A) When they are necessary. But keep the eliminations in proper order. Be CONSISTENT with it! Taking them two days in succession and then leaving them off for a month, isn't very consistent! That's the way the general things have been handled; too much of self is given in exactly that same way! Take them once a week for three to four weeks, or once every two weeks for three or four treatments; and it will be better!
257-132 Page 6
36. (Q) What will relieve the smooth taste in my mouth? (A) Rough it up with persimmons; that'll change it! But the better will be to follow the line of diet that has been indicated for the body.
37. (Q) Should body leave N.Y. soon, and where best for his health? (A) If the activities are required in Asheville and vicinity, to get those conditions in correct position, go there! If the activities are required in other directions, go there!
38. (Q) Am I recovering my equilibrium mentally and spiritually? How can I further improve my all-round condition? (A) Sit down for a time and analyze self; look into self; see what is the trouble; see how the situations have stacked up with self, from the various associations and connections that have been made; see what the needs and requirements of self are. Then take them to thy Maker. Art thou willing to present all thou hast done to Him and expect Him to pay thee in thine own coin of what thou hast paid out? Then, you'll be right!
