Time of Reading 7:35 to 7:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. N.Y.C. (Questions)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257]; this we have had before. Ready for questions.

2. (Q) The advice of the Forces have been followed during the past week - (A) (Interrupting) Not very well.

3. (Q) (Continuing) and [257] made the contact with the Ungerleider group - (A) (Interrupting) Already had.

4. (Q) (Continuing) or the Distillers and Brewers Corp., thru Mr. Louis Stark of the home office No. 26 Exchange Place, Jersey City Harborside Warehouse No. 2 on the 6th floor and the attorney Mortimor Cordon of the 32nd floor #80 Broad St., N.Y.C., with Mr. Jack Eisman of the 41 St. floor at #405 Lexington Ave., N.Y.C. An arrangement is being worked out. Please advise [257] what the agreement should contain for the mutual satisfaction of all concerned. (A) That which will suit each one of them, and as to their abilities and their activities and their associations, and what the connections should be.

5. (Q) Should the new selling organization be owned exclusively by [257] and Eisman or should the Distillery group hold part? (A) Hold part.

6. (Q) The organization will be known as the Clark Distillers Merchandising Group, or the Clark Distilling Sales Division, or the Eastern Sales Division of the Clark Distilling Corp., or is there a better designation, considering the laws of the state of N.Y., which name will carry the most prestige? (A) Eastern Sales Division of the Clark Distillers Corporation.

7. (Q) Now, considering all the possibilities of this organization, what can Eisman and [257] do to make it an immediate success?

257-137 Page 2

(A) Go to work.

8. (Q) What product best to specialize on first, to make the opening wedge to the trade? (A) This would depend upon what portion or as to where the proposition would be carried first. For, as experienced or known by those - or should be - there are in various countries or portions of the country activities such that there are various CHARACTERS that are used; some cheap, some high, some of the better grade, some of the lower grades, even of the very same character of material. This would depend. As to saying do this or do that or do the other - not from here!

9. (Q) Where best to have the sales office in N.Y.C., for the most prestige and accessibility? (A) Depends upon how the activities are to be carried on. Where it has already been contemplated. And where it's been drawn out, why ask - when it's already been settled?

10. (Q) [257] has been approached also by the Mission Dry Corporation thru Mr. Vanderman of the 22nd floor of 11 W. 42nd St., to assume sales on a higher price product than Eisman is now selling. Can [257] consistently handle the Mission Dry while Eisman handles the Clark sales, since it will lesson the burden of overhead of the Clark group - and bring quick returns to [257] as they are Nationally organized? (A) This is what has been the inconsistency in many of the activities of [257] recently, in the direction of making the associations and connections; when one is started, then another next, then turn to first one then the other! If the organization of the Eastern Division of the Clark Distillers Corporation is to be handled by [257] and Eisman, and then is to be separated, and then it is asked as to whether [257] must be with Vanderman or with Clark Distillers Corporation, see how confusing you make it! What does he wish to do ? Which is the desire? The one that he may make the most money out of quick, or the one that would be the association that would make for the best connections? All of these things should be considered. It CAN be handled in this way and manner, but should this be taken in this way and manner it would soon bring separation; for it would necessitate that there be as much interest from Eisman as in [257]'s selling, as there would be [257]'s interest in Eisman's selling. Hence would not make a difference in what should be the income. Unless it's handled in this sort of a way, it must certainly bring discord in the activities of all concerned. It can be done, and should this be made - the associations with this outline, then the first directing and activities on the part of [257] should be in making these

associations or connections in the present surroundings that deal with the sales to corporations, hotels or the like, that will make an order direct.

11. (Q) Is [257] right in believing this a National Outlet for the products to be offered by Eisman in the Clark group, and ultimately join the two companies as the basis of a large National Company? (A) This may be done, but it'll be many years from now.

12. (Q) What will be necessary for [257] to do to make a satisfactory arrangement with Mr. Vanderman? (A) As indicated, it is possible to make; but if the self is divided is it willing to divide self's own applications in one direction with that of another? What is necessary? Either give of whole time, or make the arrangements necessary so that Eisman has the same interest in the sales of [257] as [257] has in the sales of Eisman!

13. (Q) What will prove [257]'s value the quickest to Vanderman considering the intricate set up of the Mission Dry group? (A) As indicated, this should be some specific way or manner; either in one or the other of the directions as indicated - in sales.

14. (Q) Considering Mission only make Domestic products, which one best for [257] to concentrate on this week? (A) The wines.

15. (Q) Where and with whom can [257] make the first large wholesale sale to impress Vanderman? (A) As indicated.

16. (Q) Vanderman states that a wonderful opportunity awaits [257]. How can [257] be assured that after he makes good the promises will be kept? [257] asks this guidance because the Forces know more of - (A) (Interrupting) The same as has been given before. If the body acts, expects, gives and lives in the way as to command the proper connections and associations, then it will be forthcoming; for what measure ye mete it is measured to you again.

17. (Q) If [257] devotes his entire time for the next six months to these liquor situations will his time and efforts produce large enough returns to justify putting other matters to the background? (A) As we find, it would.

18. (Q) Considering all the business demands of the associates, what business advice will the Forces please give [257] to guide him step by step - (A) (Interrupting) This has been given, and we are through for the present.
