Time of Reading 11:15 to 11:40 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Body and enquiring mind, his physical condition and his material conditions. You will have his associates and his associations in the various enterprises in which he is interested. Questions.)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257]; this we have had before.
2. In the physical forces of the body, the body has experienced again and again those warnings that have been given respecting certain diets or certain combinations. And if the body persists it must then pay the price, in the physical disturbances. But don't expect to be able to defy self or the information as may be given, for soon - with such insistence on the part of self to DEFY conditions - it must go on its own.
3. As to those conditions in the feet, we have given that they should have their corrections; for with the general weakening condition there are those tendencies for the activity to produce a falling arch condition, but with such treatments that we have indicated would be well, if there would be - with the sweats - the massage and the foot correction, these should make for such corrections as will enable the body to overcome these conditions. But if there is the insistency or such a weakness within self that it allows its own appetite to undo in the eating of ANY condition, that which has been accomplished, do not expect that it can do just any way and have a beautiful, definite, satisfactory result to be in the experience of self.
4. Follow then the suggestions in those ways and manners as has been given respecting the BODILY welfare.
5. And as has been SO insistent for self's own sake, for those that are dependent upon the body, for the own mental and physical welfare, PLEASE be consistent.
6. Ready for questions.
7. (Q) Has Dobbins hit the spot and handled adjustments properly? (A) These are very good so far as they have gone, but these cannot be expected - as we have indicated - to be kept in
257-166 Page 2
alignment and then just act any old way. It has been indicated oft for the body as to how that it can benefit itself by budgeting its time in the care for body, the recreation for body, those periods of relaxation, the mental upbuild, the social experience and periods, its care for its home and for its activities, for its regular labors. And if these are not adhered to more, the conditions are reaching such that - as has been warned again and again and again - it will not stand the strain.
8. (Q) How long should I take the sweat baths at Reilly's? (A) Just as long as they are needed to keep the color, the assimilating system, the eliminating system in proper order. When these are needed; not say "Well, now I've just got to take six more and then I won't have to take any more," or take them for the next six months. That isn't the manner of ANY exercise for the body mentally or physically, but have the attitude that "I will so cooperate in my activities and my mental forces and in my care of body that what is being accomplished by adding to or taking from the system may be that necessary to keep my body in normal good health."
9. (Q) How can mental situation be improved? (A) As indicated, by budgeting the time for mental and physical relaxation, for mental and physical upbuild, for the social, the development of body and mind. How many books has the body read within the last two years, that were so devised as to be additions for the physical welfare, the mental welfare, the general progress of conditions through the country and its associations with business and its relations in every welfare, and that of a general mental and physical improvement? These should be budgeted as well as "How many cabinets am I going to sell tomorrow or next week or next month, or how well are these going to be in accord?" They each have their place, and this is the way to keep the body mentally balanced properly. If the body is physically and mentally tired from worry, changing to those things in thinking that are of a beautiful nature - either socially, economically, home or what not - changes in the mental attitude, the mental outlook. Put the proper evaluation in its proper place.
10. (Q) Should [257] move from ... St. to country? (A) There are many conditions to be considered in this direction. This has been very well determined in self as well as in the helpmate [903] as to the individual needs and necessities of all conditions. This would be very well.
11. (Q) Where best to go? (A) Where it may be the more convenient for the changing
257-166 Page 3
about, the more accessible for all concerned. As to the vicinity or the surroundings, this should be determined by self and not through other sources. For as the body, as the family has its needs, has its demands to make upon whatever association or community in which it might reside, there are certain conditions in the life of each that demand as well as having that to offer. These should be considered from the mental forces of all concerned. Then choose, and as ye mete to others it will be measured back.
12. (Q) When best time to go? (A) Now.
13. (Q) Advise as to improvement and further spiritual development. (A) Study to show thyself approved unto GOD, a workman not ashamed, rightly dividing the words of truth, keeping self unspotted from the world, keeping self unregenerated in that there are no making of experiences for which the body will be sorry. For remember, it is self meeting self.
14. (Q) Should [257] operate as "Wood & Metal Prod. Corp."? or as an individual? (A) As an individual would be the more preferable, yet there are many considerations. Again had the body done as had been suggested through these sources long ago, many different changes would have been. [Earlier rdgs. advised bankruptcy. See 257-123, etc.] It would be necessary for the ridding self of much of that which is a hindrance and has been a hindrance for the operation in such a way and manner. This as we find must now be worked out by self. Advice and counsel has been given; it has been sidestepped or refused. We REFUSE to give further suggestions in this direction.
15. (Q) [257] has drawn the following agreement with [1414] - (A) This is rather a one-sided agreement. As we find, if the drawing account is set as a portion of the whole, very well. If it is to be outside, [257] is letting himself in for more trouble. The associations are very worth while; they may be very helpful to each, but conditions should be put on a basis that there is a perfect understanding. For unless there are the abilities on the part of [1414] to produce even a drawing account, it cannot be a satisfactory arrangement very long. Unless these are set from a perfect understanding in same, then it is only breeding distrust.
16. (Q) Will [257] and [1414] be able to make justifiable money for the arrangement? (A) That depends upon their basis. If these are in their association only to how much money they may get out of others without the proper consideration of not only the
257-166 Page 4
people whom they represent, not only the people whom they distribute the materials through, all considered as a whole, then not well. But if there are the proper considerations as a whole, it may be a very helpful and a very worth while association. These then depend upon the activities and not just because of their association will it be correct. Remember the experiences that are set up through the activities of the ages. For what purpose, for what is thine ideal? Unless these be correct, they CANNOT be in their fruitage other than disappointment.
17. (Q) Considering the new line of endeavor with the American Fur. Co. of Martinsville, Va., please advise what moves to make and what plans to make to make it successful? (A) It has been outlined well for the body heretofore. As has been indicated the association is good. The policies and the ideals of the organization represented by [257] are excellent. In thine dealings with thy fellow man, FOLLOW THOSE policies! There cannot be better advice or counsel than that!
18. (Q) Considering all conditions about him and the [[3734] & [900]] [lawsuit] situation and the attitude of the trade to whom [257] will endeavor to sell, should [257] consider going into bankruptcy to make his entire start new and future possible at this time? (A) This has been given; we will not give. This has been given, it has been sidestepped, it has been refused. Work it out for yourself.
19. (Q) How does my mother - [325] - (A) Work it out for yourself.
20. (Q) What can [257] do to keep the [3734]'s from worrying him until he can make settlement? (A) Work it out for yourself.
21. (Q) Should [257] continue radio with Showers Bros. and give up their furniture line? (A) He's already done it! Why ask whether he should do or have done what he's already done!
22. (Q) Will I be successful in radio with Showers? (A) This has been answered many, many times. It is dependent upon many factors. Work it out. For as conditions develop, as indicated, it will gradually be worked into other channels; but do not turn these away until you are sure - as indicated - that you are off with the old before you are on with the new; that is, do not try to sell the same companies the finish of different factories. These should be completed, the contracts with Showers in the radio cabinet. Thus carried. These as developments come along
257-166 Page 5
will be altered or changed according to the working out of the plan of all.
23. (Q) What improvement can [257] suggest in line of picture now on his desk for factory at Martinsville? (A) These are very good. These should be more in order as to their specific grades or numbers in certain types or lines, and these should be indicated more in the pictures or the representatives of same. This definite distinction between - these are supplied by those through their regular channels. Suggestions may be made by [257], but the factory chooses these and they should be rather as a cordinant [coordinate?]; not suggesting someone when this is somebody else's business to do.
24. (Q) What men should he accept as assistants for N.Y. areas? (A) These must be worked out in the needs of the various conditions as they arise, as to whether it be one, three or five. Do not make it so overburdensome that there will be the dependency for somebody else to do the bigger part of the selling in this or that line, and then expect to go out or sell itself, and then have a wrangle again.
25. (Q) Please advise fully [257]'s next procedure in organization method and plan of operation. (A) This has been given. Not only in the operation here or as applicable here, or as the metal wood products and the representative of the various lines, and these as we find were correct. Follow those. These have been given over and over again. And we may set this, as has been given: If the policies of the organization the body represents are followed, in its manner of dealing with individuals, with the trade, the salesmen, they can all coordinate the better - and they are satisfactory.
26. (Q) Reference Paris Medicine Co. of St. Louis. (A) As given respecting this, do not meet the organization - the Paris Medicine - without Reed. Follow those suggestions as will be made by Reed, whether it is for the sale, the settlement of suit or whatever it may be. That has been placed in the hands of Reed, and unless these suggestions or advice and counsel from him are adhered to, it will continue to be a wrangle and eventually worry itself out with everyone else and be lost - the whole situation.
