1. GC: [257], mental and physical, his associates and associations, and the conditions surrounding the Paris Medicine Co., with the personalities Harold Davis of 9th floor, 40 Wall St., in office of Munds & Winslow, and J. L. Richardson their associate in the purchase of the company as well as Isaac Orr, John Shepley, representing the Bank-St. Louis Trust Co. & Paris Med. Co. Also Fred Seely of Asheville, and Jas. Reed, lawyer, of Kansas City. Please inform [257] of status of situation, purchase price to be offered, acceptance price, and what [257] and Seely will have to do to make it a successful sale. You will then answer questions.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257], present in this room; associations and relations with individuals in the Paris Medicine, individuals in varied activities; and some of these we have had before.
3. Conditions and circumstances physical and mental: As we find in the physical forces of the body, these are very good in the present. Much better than they have been for three and a half years. If there will be those precautions that have been given as respecting the manner of the body's activities, the body's relaxations, the body's activities for physical, mental, social and material developments, these should keep in accord and in attune for some time.
4. Be precautious about overtaxing. Be precautious regarding the eliminations and the diets.
5. In the mental forces of the body, as has been indicated, there are those attitudes that are felt and that are innate in the experience of the entity. If these were made as a portion of the expression of the entity in such a manner for these to be in perfect accord, there would come a better general mental attitude.
6. There should be ever CONSTRUCTIVE thought. There should be little of fear, for as the body expresses itself at times in its relationships to others, KEEP that attitude. Be more

tolerant, be more patient, be more humble. These are to many but attributes that are as an idealistic expression, but these made practical and not as ideals for someone else! And they are just as applicable in the experience of business as in the social and the spiritual relationships. For one's attitude regarding its religious or spiritual life should be not as of proclamations, not as tenets, not as 'see the beautiful things I have done' or that have been done, but do them without comment, LIVE the Life! These are the manners, then, to keep the proper attitude towards conditions that may arise, that do arise in the home, in the office, in the associations with friends, foes, enemies, and those that would become a part of the entity's association in every relationship.
7. Not that one proclaims self. LIVE IT, rather, in the daily relationships; and these will bring those seekings for courtesies, friendships, for relationships that far surpass. Look again to what has been indicated to the body in regard to its abilities as a salesman, as a representative; that most eighty percent of the entity's abilities is not just personality, but the individuality - and the attitude towards things spiritual, and the social and economic relationship with same.
8. In the relationships as we find regarding the Paris Medicine association, as has been given, while this is making for a very good start, there has not been the proper consideration given as has been indicated in the acquaintance of Reed with the situations that exist. And unless these are carried forward in the manners as we have indicated, as we find it will foul the whole situation.
9. As for the associates of Davis, their first proposition is seeking to find how little there may be offered as a consideration to even gain the ear of Orr and associates who represent not only the financial portion of the organization but the credit portion as well as a portion of the family that is as a portion of the estate outside of Seely's interest. Their first offer will be close to eight million seven hundred and fifty thousand, and nearly two and a half more may be made. But none of these are in a position to be considered unless that as has been given is given due consideration. And unless these are, don't seek here for what you should do!

11. (Q) Should Sen. Reed be acquainted thru [257] direct or thru Olvany, Eisner & Donnelly, or Isaac Lande? (A) The associates in the legal end should acquaint the Senator of the conditions that exist. Not only as to the

fact that there is the proposition of a re-sale, for even this has not been - only as a hearsay, and has been rejected even in the mind of Reed. Yet these unless they are a portion of the whole thing will be found to become the stumblingblocks.
12. (Q) Should I ask Sen. Reed to meet me in Chicago? (A) Are you Eisner or the other lawyers or the other associates? If you are, ask him. If you are not, don't.
13. (Q) I asked Lande to come to the next meeting. Will he be satisfactory? (A) There hasn't been the sympathy and the connection with Lande as there has been with some others, though if these are of one accord in their consideration of Reed's position this may be done, but will have to be handled with not only kid gloves but they'll have to be perfectly white!
14. (Q) What can Fred Seely do at the moment to assist? (A) All the assistance that may be given will be to naught unless those conditions are considered first. Seely's interest at the present is mostly for the confidence as well as the abilities of the individual in knowing how the conditions, the proposition, have been advanced! And this explained to those that would be purchasers. Rather as a help towards not overselling but showing what has been the consistent development. For these as products that have been a portion of this organization, which to be sure furnishes the basis for all of this organization, which to be sure furnishes the basis for all of these developments, have been a consistent, a conservative, yet has far outstripped many that have been spending many millions more in advertising. For the product is not only of merit but has the advertising possibilities to be made into a thirty or forty million dollar project, rather than as it stands at present.
15. (Q) When [257] meets with Olvany, and lays this entire plan before them, to submit to Reed, should the new deal become a part of the old lawsuit? (A) What has been given? We haven't changed it one iota! If there is the desire of [257] to maintain even a working interest in same? Unless they are a part, [257] has no part in the new deal - and will find himself in that position when it is settled. Hence as has been given, as Reed has no part in the new sale but only in the lawsuit, as he holds as it were the key to the whole situation, you will work yourself out unless these are adhered to.
16. (Q) Well, we are asking for guidance and will follow it. (A) Well, it's been given about forty times that you should do it and you haven't done it yet!

17. (Q) The people handling the new deal suggested they be permitted to work their price up first before the lawyers are brought into the case. That's why I have waited. (A) And then have it entirely out of the hands of a lawyer if it is accepted by Seely or Orr or those close, and forget that there is a lawsuit - and then where are you!
18. (Q) Will it be sufficient time on my return to N.Y. to take it up with Eisner & Donnelly? (A) This depends upon circumstances and how soon or how much consideration [257] is being given by the purchasers.
19. (Q) They inform me that I was to be part of their group. (A) So they can work you entirely out if you don't watch it. As has been given again and again, they are using the situation to dismiss the suit if possible, or to get an agreement from [257] that it is released that it may be sold. And hence it has GOT to become a part!
20. (Q) So if [257] now takes the stand that the only way it can be sold or settled is thru the direction of the counsel - (A) That is as has been given from the very first, and we haven't changed it!
21. (Q) Is there any other step that [257] should take before the 20th of July, when he expects to be back in N.Y.? (A) Let it be known for a certainty that there is no release of claim unless there IS the proper consideration given and the legal authorities made aware and are agreed to it.
22. (Q) Would Seely be the best man to state this to the purchasing group? (A) Seely has been one that tries to edge it around the other way. Would be best man if [257] can rely upon these associations to hold through these conditions that as has been indicated are being pressed on many sides.
23. (Q) On the basis of the present offering, what amount of money should the attorneys receive on one side? (A) Who is that to give except the attorneys! These would not be given from here. Those are then portion of the material action, that will require due consideration. These should have been carried on, for it will - unless these are worked very carefully - either prevent the culmination of the offer or will prolong as to become or make for very disagreeable conditions arising in many quarters.
24. (Q) Seely expects me to telephone him tonight for a message as to what progress we have made, or for any suggestions as to himself. Will the Forces please guide me in this conversation? (A) It's a very poor way to be conducted at a long

distance, under the situations. Should be that Seely, the lawyers, the representatives of the purchasers, meet [257] IN Chicago. Part of the money is coming from there; why not get it together there?
25. (Q) Munds-Winslow have an office in Chicago. (A) That's nothing new.
26. (Q) Is there any advice at the moment on the Paris Medicine? (A) These are sufficient if they are adhered to, and they must be if there will be a share or [257] have a part in the proposition, at least. Because it may be sold, but the conditions are that [257] is seeking for proper consideration.
27. (Q) As to association with American Furniture Co. executives in Chicago during the market - O. D. Ford and Morgan Simmons, both of whom are in the factory at Martinsville, Va., now, please advise [257] as to his conduct, and suggestions in order to cement the friendships already started. (A) Associate with the factory and neither one in it at this time. These, as has been outlined. Follow those policies, those manners and the ways that have been set as a part of that organization. The proper considerations both from the manufacturers, the purchasers, the self, should always be kept in mind. These will find in this organization, as has been given, that while due considerations are given all, where favoritism is attempted it will work a hardship on [257] - unless these are offered by the organization itself. Hence those activities in those directions as has been indicated, for the better numbers and for the proper consideration of all in those associations and connections. These the manners to be considered, these the ways and manners that there can be better associations or relations established with this connection. These are good and these should be maintained. These are the things that should be considered, as has been indicated.
28. (Q) What improvements can be made to line? (A) These are to have consideration by the various individuals who make for designs for special periods or character of developments. These should have due considerations without going to the extremes. For while there is the necessity for keeping gradually towards the modernistic, remember that the whole purchasing of the laity is conservative! For conservatism is to be the key for the next year in political, in the economic, in the home, and it is a perfect psychological effect that extremes either to the too much modernistic or too much return to the old type of the reversion would be left high and dry. Keep then not

so much, as you would say, to the extreme - but to the middle of the road; but stress character, quality of merchandise and that that is of such a style that it is not gone tomorrow yet will be in keeping with the general developments as the modes and the models and the various developments are going on.
29. (Q) Will new prices hold throughout the market in Chicago next week? (A) These will hold in the major part save where special design or some special additions are a part of that sought. It has been given as to the body that it is well in various organizations that are the distributors to whom the body [257] should and does seek for the quantity as well as the quality orders, that these be given special numbers under special design for their particular trade, see? These should be not stressed but impressed upon the organization as a part of the policy and then it becomes to the organizations where there are the purposes for not only a chain of purchases but for a whole organization - that not only price but quality may be put in same.
30. (Q) Is there anything I can do in building Radio Cabinets by suggestion? (A) This has been set in motion and will have its consideration. There are those in the organization, those connected with same, that are against this consideration; yet Simmons is for it - but he is not the main power, though in policy he is. These should be considered and have their proper consideration. Hence the closer associations that may be brought in a friendly manner to the users or distributors of this product, with those in authority, the better the opportunities for the greater consideration.
