Time of Reading ... Avenue, 11:15 to 12:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Physical body, mental and material life. Please advise of his development and as to his abilities, and guide him to succeed in owning his own factory output for Radio at once. Then answer the questions as to [257]'s associates and associations, and the plan of operation.)
1. EC: We have the body, the enquiring mind, [257]; this we have had before.
2. In giving that as may be instrumental in aiding the body to obtain those activities and those environs and surroundings and connections, these as we find, as has been indicated heretofore, may not be for the better or for the greater constructive influence in the spiritual, as well as the mental welfare. But as has so oft been indicated, the conditions are rather in keeping with the desires of the individual body.
3. But to use the spiritual sources for material gains, when there have been warnings as respecting activities in that direction, may prove to be in the long run spiritually unfruitful.
4. For what matters it if you gain the whole world if you have lost your faith in your Maker, in your fellow man, and only seek for the material aggrandizement?
5. To be sure, there are - in the ideals of that being sought - very unusual natures. They are rather idealistic. But those in the present that are capable of and are being approached for the financial aid see rather the material gain, with the idealistic portions - in the activities of individuals interested, who are sincere - rather as an experiment - with the hope but lack of faith in its success.
6. Hence there becomes the necessity that what has been given heretofore in the experience of the entity [257] be adhered to.
7. Do not allow the ego of self-praise, self-indulgence, self's fame in any direction, to so override that which is the basic ideal; else we may find this as a millstone rather than a means to those ends in the material, the mental or
257-181 Page 2
the spiritual ways being sought.
8. These may appear in the present to be general, indefinite; but if the warnings and those advices and counsels that have been maintained for the entity throughout the years are correlated, it will be easily seen as to the definiteness of same. For what is written is written; and it is ever as in the days of old:
9. There is TODAY, NOW (and it's every day, every week) set before thee life and death, good and evil!
10. Not that the having of a factory is necessarily evil, a factory that may be an outlet for the activities; but the use of same, the application of same in the relationships to the activities of the body - as has been so oft indicated - may be evil. For unless each executive in charge of affairs in the whole organization is imbued with the spirit (not merely the idea but the spirit) of cooperation, or the ideal of those that are the leading factors (such as at some times held by [257], but sometimes waved like a rag rather than a banner!), there will be many, many a headache!
11. In considering then, think on these things seriously. Each head of each department - not merely the financiers (these, to be sure) but the finishings, the executive, the sales - all branches. And if this is done, it may be well with all.
12. Let the watchword be, ever, as has been intimated, as has been directed, as has been insisted for the body; each in their own sphere and honest sincere days, weeks, months, years of service for an ideal and not merely for the moment's gain.
13. Due consideration to the consumer, to the producer, to every branch; not top heavy anywhere, not lacking in service anywhere; but as each would have the other do to them, do they even so to every association.
14. This is not merely an idealistic thing, it is LIFE! Life is God! Take GOD, then, everyone, in partnership with thy daily service - and it will blossom as the rose!
15. Ready for questions.
16. (Q) What causes blood to again appear [from rectum] after not showing for 90 days? (A) Just those conditions that have been indicated. When there is the overstraining, the disregarding of the precautions that are necessary, then this condition appears. If there is the adherence to those activities that have been given, it will be the better.
17. (Q) Why pain across small of back, and relief? (A) The stress upon the lower hepatic circulation by a strain from cold, congestion, and the upset circulation from
257-181 Page 3
the indiscretions. The relief - an exercise that has been indicated, consistently; adherence to the strict regulations of diet and activity, and the necessary relaxations.
18. (Q) Any further suggestions for present condition? (A) Do those as indicated at such times.
19. (Q) Fred Dekregas of 17th floor at 49 Wall St. is attempting to finance the Schwartzwalder factory of Chichester, N.Y., in Ulster Co. Which one of his groups will finally put up the money? (A) This as we find is still a problem. While there is serious consideration, that as has been indicated is not merely an idealistic thing but an ideal put into practical application and the indication that there is a coordinant [coordinate?] activity among all of those who have been suggested or who are held at present in abeyance as towards activities with same, and then those of the groups who are the better able and who are in their last analysis the closer associated with the very groups whom [257] would serve, will be the ones - if these are presented in the what maybe called by some idealistic way.
20. (Q) When will it be ready for [257] to take over? (A) This as we find is one of those very conditions that are being presented as warnings to the entity. Is [257] to be the finisher, the salesman, the go-between, the financier, the bookkeeper, or all branches of things? Rather is it that there is to be a manager, [257] merely an assistant, a helper. Do not EVER allow ANYONE in the organization to be working for ANYONE! Either be working with, or not on the job! Hence the expression should be rather, "When will it be ready for the group?" and this very setting up of that "I am this and I am that" is balking yourself before you begin! When will it be ready for activities? As soon as there is the convincing of the financiers that there is the business acumen in each of the heads of the departments to carry on. Hence much of the figures of sales and profits and all are to be presented to various groups. Not merely as purely prospective, but what was done in this organization, that organization. Take those that have been failures and see where their weak parts were, see? Take those that have been the greatest successes and see their strong points and their weak points. Then when these are built up and presented
257-181 Page 4
properly, ready - and should be by at least the early portion of June or sooner.
21. (Q) What are the possibilities in the development of this village as [257] has outlined and planned? (A) As [257] has outlined? Very little has [257] outlined. As to those who have been instrumental in aiding and in adding to an idea here or there very good - and if carried as has been indicated, successful.
22. (Q) Will more floor space be required than present 115,000 feet? (A) This should be sufficient.
23. (Q) Any complications in deal pending? (A) This depends upon how well all the various phases are presented.
24. (Q) Is Chas. Gilbert a good man to handle part of the management? (A) Each shall be set in their respective sphere. Not overlapping, not in the way one of another; but as the hand coordinates when there is the feeding of the body; as the eye when feeding the mind; as the digesting in building up the body. So shall each department head be set. Then they that would destroy or attempt to assume the activities of any head - Well, what happens to the body? You have been experiencing it in thine own system! Gilbert is very good!
25. (Q) What part? (A) The general or outer management, or coordinating of departments.
26. (Q) [165], and what part? (A) Finishings and the social service and the coordination or cooperative activity in the village.
27. (Q) Gene Keifer of Red Leon Radio Factory, Red Leon, Pa.? (A) Very good in the coordinating of characters of finish; not the finishings but that to be finished - the woods, the joinings, the activities of same. Superintendent, it might be said, of construction.
28. (Q) What capitalization will the Wall St. group raise? (A) This again depends upon how well and what the plans outlined are to include and how far to go. Build just for Radios and NOT for a smattering at everything; or Radios and some ends that might be used in toys - of certain characters.
29. (Q) Which of Swarzwalder Bros. should remain in organization? (A) That one that is the closer to the activities with Keifer and [257] and [165] and Gilbert.
30. (Q) How soon will the factory be able to take on
257-181 Page 5
business according to all conditions around it? (A) How soon will it rain, or snow or storm? Dependent upon circumstances, conditions brought to bear. How much revamping, how much resetting or reorganization? All of these are dependent upon financial conditions, the policies, the activities. As indicated, as we find, the mid-season should be ready if it is carried forward.
31. (Q) [257] handling sales and the other 3 in manufacturing, will that make a complete set-up for success? (A) As has been indicated.
32. (Q) Is there a better location or situation anywhere for [257] than the present one, to develop Radio Cabinets? (A) These are very good. Ideal in many ways, and the surroundings or environs of every nature are an asset - if carried on in the manner as planned; liability if allowed to become a drag, or done half-heartedly.
33. (Q) Can [257] do something unusual to get an unusual[ly] large volume [of] furniture business at the May market? (A) These as has been indicated for the body oft become boomerangs. It is not those who start at or sail at the highest point without the proper equipment that succeed the most, but they who are able to deliver and alight properly also. Not as to the unusual, but as to rather that which would create in the minds of the trade, the associates, the sincerity and the better policies that are a part of the furniture organization with which [257] is affiliated. These done, they will build for the better, the more far-reaching and the more successful program to be builded.
34. (Q) [257] has meeting with Robert Lamont, 21st floor, Graybar Bldg., #2158. What plan will cause him to get 250,000 from Lamont for the factory quickly? (A) This is either to be carried through the policies of those that are to finance the whole organization, or they are to be crossfired and create confusion in the minds of many and break down without ever assuming proportions to be helpful. As to how, this may be accomplished in the manner as has been indicated in what is to be presented for the carrying forward of financing of the corporation in the activities that have already been given.
35. (Q) Will firm of Underwriters, Inc., 49 Wall St., be able to sell the 400,000 Securities they say they can sell in 3 months? (A) This depends upon how they presented, as has been given.
257-181 Page 6
36. (Q) [257] handling sales and [165], Gilbert and Keifer factory, will the project be successful? (A) Read that given above.
37. (Q) Please advise generally as you did in 1926 what to do now to again achieve my financial position of commercial standing in Radio field, and what my plan should be now. (A) This should have been and should be studied now rather as a lesson. If those policies were used during those experiences, that that brought merely volume without the proper consideration of every portion of the factory, of the customer, of the consumer and all. Then that it may have brought note to [257], but rather did it not bring also regrets on the part of many? Then there were ideals but not altogether idealistic or other than mere ideas with ideals in the shadows and not in the background wholly. Then build in the way and manner as has been set, as has been here also given, and as directed if the body [257] and those of his associates would reap not whirlwinds of fame or of renown but dregs also that become very bitter in the end.
38. (Q) A meeting with Gen. Elec. and [1665] of Emerson is arranged for this week. What can [257] do to bring about a closing deal between them? (A) As has been given, it is not just ready yet. When those facts have been carried forward as has been given, then there may be the consummation. Not until those factors have been done.
39. (Q) Has [257] handled properly so far with Wilson, Baker, Andrews? (A) In some respects there have been some things held back, some things have been told or given that shouldn't - but in the general, fair. But remember, coordination doesn't mean your hands trying to do the digesting, nor the seeing altogether.
40. (Q) Next move to do? (A) Clarify the situation between all.
41. (Q) Considering present developments at St. Louis with Judge Charles Davis, Federal Court, what can [257] expect his decision to be? (A) As has been given, this is entirely out of the hands of [257], and is to be and that as [257] may expect, whatever activities of the attorneys are, that will bring about the decisions.
42. (Q) What will Isaac Orr of St. Louis Trust Co. do now to settle suit? (A) This again depends upon approaches, the conditions, the laxity on the part of the counsels or what not. These are rather being held in abeyance so far as Orr is concerned by
257-181 Page 7
his attorneys.
43. (Q) Will Fred Seely continue to work with [257] and Ellery Mann to again sell Paris Medicine Co. to one of Mann's friends? (A) If the other is settled in a correct manner.
44. (Q) Is [257] in a position now with the above situations pending to be assured of coming out of the depression and out of debt and again be reestablished? (A) Provided the ideal - and not merely an idea - is carried forward; and that the ideal is not drenched in self-indulgence, aggrandizement or glory by any of the associates and of [257] himself. Boast not thyself of yesterday nor today, unless thy conscience be clear with him who may have been to thine own mind thy worst enemy. For that ye worship as thy God is God of thine enemy also!
