Time of Reading 11:30 to 11:50 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Body and enquiring mind. Please review developments and progress in his affairs and associates since last you advised him, and direct him to next steps to take. Quest.)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257], of ... Avenue.

2. Much might be said respecting developments in those affairs and those attempts on the part of the body to interest, through individual efforts, capital in the project or the undertaking.

3. These efforts have not faired so well, as indicated by many of those conditions that have been presented in the information through this channel, as well as the natural questions that arise in the experience of those who might be interested investing capital in such an undertaking.

4. As we find the next steps, if much headway is to be made, would be to interest those who are engaged - in one form or another - in the sale or distribution of the product as might be manufactured in the proposed project.

5. This has already been indicated as we find, but there must be given some definite assurance that there is an outlet for the proposed project, and that there are those interested with the interests and qualifications necessary to fulfillthe needs, in the manufacture of the proposed products in the undertaking, and then with this we would find most any of those who have been attempting to interest capital would be able to present it in such a way and manner as to be more in keeping with assurity of the whole proposition.

6. We do not see a great deal of possibility or probability without some such an assurance.

7. Ready for questions.

8. (Q) Why has Stalcup withheld meeting with [257]? Stalcup's office is 1107 at 24 New St., N.Y.C., or he gets his mail there. (A) Not wholly satisfied with the set-up.

9. (Q) Will the Schwartzwalder Bros. be in position after

257-183 Page 2

their trial next week to proceed? (A) We do not find any real assurance that they will.

10. (Q) Which will be best for [257], proceed thru Stalcup or direct with Schwartzwalders? (A) With the former, though - as has been indicated - there must be sufficient interest manifested on the part of the distributors for an assurance of an outlet of sufficient quantity, and with the assurance of the quality to be able to be made and manufactured at a figure sufficient to enable all to be in keeping with those qualities and qualifications as has just previously been given.

11. (Q) Will Levin of Hearn & Son, West 14th St., be a good associate of [257]'s in the manufacturing business? (A) Would be very well, but what is mostly needed is that as indicated.

12. (Q) How can Mayor Hettrick of Asbury Park be able to assist, as he has offered, with the Chichester property? (A) Only in the first things being done first, as has been indicated here.

13. (Q) Will F. de Kregas of 17th floor, 49 Wall St., be instrumental in closing the deal for [257] and group? (A) If it reaches those stages where this may be all coordinated. But as so oft, there are so many irons in the fire - as it might be said - or so many interests being presented that the policies are very apt to become confusing, unless there is a better coordination throughout.

14. (Q) What is now necessary for [257] group to do to bring deal to consummation? (A) As has been indicated, in making assurance in the manners as above indicated.

15. (Q) There is a Mr. Nye of Buffalo, an officer of the Prudential Life Co., who has expressed an interest in the matter. What will be outcome of his meeting in N.Y.? (A) This is sort of a passing fancy as we find. Rather an attempt of Nye to use the influence for approach to other interests, rather than a real indicated interest.

16. (Q) Which underwriter best in N.Y., the Pruyn Co., Hymes & Co., or the Underwriters Syndicate? (A) Hymes & Co., that is, in this particular interest; but there must be those things as given: First the location is such that there is adequate means for every character of machinery and finish and the like, and competent and incompetent hands coordinating for the correct purposes; an outlet that is an assurance that there is such an interest that it is justified in allowing its own mind or own interests to be associated in the undertaking. Then we would find conditions much better in every direction, not

257-183 Page 3

only for the raising of capital but in all characters of interests concerning same. Nothing succeeds like success. Nothing is like success save correct and a coordinant consideration of every phase of an endeavor in not merely an idea or an idealistic interest but with the courage and the persistence to find in the policies and activities those capable of adhering to those policies.

17. (Q) Isaac Lande is handling the Swartzwalder interest for them and has advised them as to the Stock issue. Please advise as to proper set-up to satisfy all concerned as to capitalization, etc.? (A) As has been indicated, this does not appear so favorable in the present.

18. (Q) What has held up closing which seemed set for last week? (A) Other interests and those very characters of questions that have been indicated.

19. (Q) Is there another factory that [257] can get to build on a commission basis near N.Y.C.? (A) This would require or necessitate, of course, going into other interests. As we find, if such is to be considered, these would be more preferable to be handled in the manners as indicated, with or through the furniture interests.

20. (Q) Please advise [257] as he needs income quickly and this would be very helpful at present. (A) Consider the furniture end of the undertaking and talk dollars instead of hundreds or thousands or millions. It is the little things, it is the dimes that make the dollars before we accrue to hundreds and thousands and millions; and if the interests and the abilities are expended in doing the little things, whether it's a suite, two suites, a car or ten cars, it must be the first car first, it must be the first suite first! Consider these. For if you would be willing to be humble, then be willing to begin where you first began!

21. (Q) How could Stewart Warner of Chicago thru Geo. Meyer be helpful to [257] in this matter, as they are willing to help? (A) Only if it can be shown that the interests and investments and activities are such that it would enable them to give the assurance that with such a factory their business in that direction would be through that channel. Now how can such an assurance be made? Only in that all factors that go to make up the opening of such a project are so set that there is a definite character of a product, a

257-183 Page 4

definite amount, definite interests, definite influences all the way through in the ways indicated.

22. (Q) How can [257] earn enough money to cover necessities, while awaiting the Radio factory? (A) Just as has been indicated, in the furniture interests.

23. (Q) What will be outcome of [3734] suit against [903] now up in Supreme Court, Judge Rosenman? [See 257-123 Reports.] (A) We do not find this particular other than a great deal of worry, if it is handled by those acquainted with the conditions in its entirety.

24. (Q) Against [257] same matter to stop St. Louis funds? (A) Again the same thing; for if there is a stoppage to [257] of the interests that represent [257] - they will become involved also.

25. (Q) [257] is following the ideas of the Forces in building Period Furniture. What plans will help him now to be successful? (A) Work the plan! Present them in such a way and manner to the various groups or organizations, as given, that they become as a part of that particular organization, see? If there are some interests where many stores are represented, or many outlets are open, then - as indicated - certain types, certain styles or individual numbers for those individual groups, see? and these in this way and manner will facilitate matters greatly.

26. (Q) What is best plan to keep health and mental attitude good, considering location of home? (A) As has been so oft given, budget the time, the abilities, the facilities. Do not overtax one at the expense of the other. Keep joyous, keep optimistic; but do not overpower, do not exaggerate self or self's associations to such an extent as to become boring to those who can only think in a few dollars!
