Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Body and enquiring mind, who seeks information, advice and guidance as to his mental and material affairs. Ques.)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257].
2. In the physical forces of the body, as we find if there are those precautions taken regarding the activities, and in the application of those influences suggested, the better results and conditions will be the outcome.
3. Ready for questions.
4. (Q) Mr. Schwartzwalder of Chichester made an application for government loan to increase his factory and production. With the aid of [257]'s orders or letters from G.E. will they be able to get $125,000 in 30 days? (A) That depends, to be sure, upon the regular routine through which such applications have to go, and as to whether these are considered as employing sufficient numbers to justify such a loan. Those individuals through whom the aid may come are in line with those efforts being made.
5. (Q) Will John Mandeville of R.F.C. in Washington be of any assistance? (A) He might be. Could be if he desired to.
6. (Q) Will Morris Fishman of 22nd St. & Delansey St., Phila., be of any assistance and be able to work it thru as he states he has been able to do and has arranged? (A) Should, if there is the giving of the data necessary in such routine in a way as to not become questioned.
7. (Q) Will Clarence Hettrick of Asbury Park be of any assistance? (A) Not necessarily.
8. (Q) Mandeville has also suggested [257] take over Hornell factory in Hornell, N.Y., and wants [257] to see it this week. What are the advantages? (A) We do not find any special advantages.
9. (Q) [257] has been approached by a banker in Grand Rapids to work out a plan with the Ypsilanti factory at Ionia, Mich., to build cabinets and furniture. Which would
257-187 Page 2
be better, Chichester, Ionia, Mich., or Hornell? (A) Chichester, if there are the abilities - on the part of all - to carry these out as has been indicated. The next we would find the preference to the Michigan factory. Yet all of these require such a hedge about in the way in which [257] would be hedged by the necessity of giving orders to individual factories, that unless there is - as has been outlined first - some definite policy as to finish, types, manners, etc., these would cause many headaches.
10. (Q) How shall I proceed to get sufficient financial aid to get the plant started to take business? (A) Same old way as we have given heretofore, as we find the only means or manner. Those through whom such orders may be gathered in for a definite purpose.
11. (Q) Is [257] doing the most constructive thing for the development of his body and mind, as well as spiritual service, in endeavoring to aid a factory to be financed in order to be able to manufacture radio and household furniture to sell large users, while he is selling American products at same time? (A) Read rather that which has been given. Why reiterate? These are conditions that must be determined in the mind of [257] as to policies, ways and manners. And there has been pointed out to [257] the ways and the policies that are well to be held to.
12. (Q) Should he continue in the furniture field as his life's calling, or is there a larger field for him now to enter for his best development? (A) He that turns back hasn't gained very much. The advancements are in these fields as we find.
13. (Q) What financial field is the best for him during the next three years, and especially 1937-38? (A) Still in the same field; wood and metals.
14. (Q) What investments financially can the body make at once to aid him set a foundation for security, to avoid a recurrence of 1935-36 conditions? (A) These are best not as speculative but as working out those things that are in keeping with those policies that have been indicated for the body.
15. (Q) Are any common stocks safe for a 12 months investment, or better bonds? (A) These would be determined within [257]'s own mind, NOT from here.
16. (Q) What bonds will be a safe investment and easily turned liquid for cash at will?
257-187 Page 3
(A) Same again. All of these have been indicated for the body, as for others, as to how and the way to determine as to what are safe investments. Those whose managements, policies, are indicating at least ten times the earnings of the capital stock.
17. (Q) How can a man best build solidly for a financial future such as [257] desires? (A) Doing to others as you would be done to.
18. (Q) He has been told by the Forces that he will again see financial conditions such as he had in 1925 to 1929. How shall he now proceed considering the start he has made and the ideas before him or before the Forces? (A) This depends - always there is a provision. Provided there is the application of self to principles, policies, that are continuously constructive in the experience, and not only an advancement but such a safe one and sane one as has not been experienced thus far.
19. (Q) How shall he now proceed, considering the start he has made and the ideas before him or before the Forces? (A) Keep that which has been outlined, as to policies, as to ways, as to means, as to manners. These are met day by day in the light of, the character of, policies and activity - as has been given.
20. (Q) In his present associations in N.Y. office, what can he expect from [1414], one of his associates? (A) These become rather a two-way activity. If there is the cooperation and the activity in the ways indicated for [1414], helpful, cooperative influences and activities may be had. If these are crossed by that independent and dilatory air of [1414], better watch - else there will be destructive forces.
21. (Q) How can [1414] be aided to help himself as well as the organization? (A) As has been given [1414]. [See 1414-1 on 7/22/37.]
22. (Q) Should [257] take on an upholstery line of furniture or stick to present endeavors of radio and furniture? (A) These - if there are those in the organization whose activities, whose abilities are in that direction, and can handle same - very well. But do not let it become a drain or a hindrance to [257]'s activity in the present association. [See 257-187, Par. R4.]
23. (Q) Could [1414] and the boys [my brothers] handle the Morlin upholstery line of 150 Bay St., Jersey City, N.J., along with - (A) Very well, provided [2653] was handling it!
257-187 Page 4
24. (Q) In balancing the budget of [257]'s life - If I work five days, take off Sat. and Sun. - devote Friday nite to Temple - is that what is meant - if not, what can I do to change or improve it? (A) If that is [257]'s idea and ideal of budgeting time in recreation, preparation and application, then work it that way.
25. (Q) What can I do to insure the future education of [my sons] [773] and [759], or what plan of investment can be made to insure the funds? (A) There are special such insurance organizations that would be well to consider - for just such funds.
26. (Q) [257] has a meeting Friday with Mr. Ed Moriber on the Morlin factory. Is this a proposition that [257] can work along with to a success and bring in a fair return monthly? (A) We do not find it so - take a long time to be worked out.
27. (Q) [257] is making every effort to the best of his conscious ability to get his affairs in working order and on a budget basis. Please advise wherein he is failing to live up to the expectancy of those guiding him and his destiny? (A) Remember - these are making statements that you should analyze, rather than say that [257] is doing this or that anyone is guiding the destinies. Rather analyze self and the purposes and desires and hopes, and see that these are in a constructive way and manner for the best of self and for all of those interested in the activities of [257], [257]'s associations and [257]'s organization.
28. (Q) When will the best time present itself for [257] to be able to accomplish his desires? (A) When he has fulfilled that which is necessary to bring the returns. This would be like asking, "If a ball with a string attached is cast off, when will it return?" When it has fulfilled its activity in the given directions. So with a life and an application in such conditions.
29. (Q) In what way and manner can he best serve and accomplish the most as President of the Association for Research & Enlightenment? (A) In assisting and cooperating in carrying forward the ideals and purposes of the organization.
30. (Q) Please lay out a plan that will aid the development of the Work for the next 60 days? (A) Let it work as it is - for the next sixty days.
31. (Q) Will [257] be able to set his business aright -
257-187 Page 5
develop his own spiritual affairs and be able to do justice to the work of Edgar Cayce to which he has dedicated his life - and how best to conform? (A) Again - there are statements rather than questions. You are answering them within thine own questions and thine own statements. If there is the application of self, yes. If there is the dilatory activity, no. If it is given over and expected for some other to handle, no. If there are the activities that make for cooperative measures in every manner, EVER CONSTRUCTIVE - not using as a means for self advancement, self-exaltation, self-indulgence or in any manner; for these become stumbling-stones and build barriers. Let EVERYTHING, the body and mind, in association in business and individual relationships, be done in decency and in order; preferring the other fellow in place of self. And don't brag so much!
32. (Q) What is best time for [257] to spend a few days at the Beach with Cayce, considering all things? (A) When it is in accord with those conditions in the experiences of [257] that make for a cooperative measure in every manner. If it conflicts with any home or business association, not well. These are confusing - unless there is an ideal policy, an ideal activity set as a standard.
33. (Q) What is the significance of the dream I had Sun. morning regarding being in Lexington, Ky., on 3rd St., and about having dinner at a friend's? (I looked across the st. and saw a man named Levi. He was a friend of [1095], owner of the ... Stores in ..., Mass. He stated I should do business with [1095] and with a 5% discount and that I could get 4-5 cars at once of furniture business. I said that [1095] was a good friend of mine and that we had other things on tap, and just then we seemed to decide to go to see [1095]. We were on our way with a plan to work out a factory together when I woke. I continued my thoughts on the possibilities of working a plan of mutual advantage. We have no 5% discount and his stores are not in my territory on the American line. What is the significance?) (A) This is that the innate and intuitive self turns to, through the experiences of the past, that there may be that analysis of self as to where and what the activities of the body and mind are leading towards in every phase of its personal experience.
257-187 Page 6
34. (Q) Also a dream where I saw my name written in gold alongside of a memorial - I don't know whose memorial or where it was. (A) These are as warnings, that there must be those precautions in every manner; that there be the care for every phase of the experience.
35. (Q) Any further advice at this time? (A) It all may have been summed from the first in this, as has so oft been given the body: Be consistent! Be CONSISTENT in ALL things! Persistent, but CONSISTENT.
