1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [257] of ... Ave., N.Y.C., who seeks information, advice and guidance as to his material affairs, especially as to procedure for profitably participating in the World's Fair. You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the enquiring mind, [257]; those connections, associations and activities.
3. Ready for questions.
4. (Q) [257] desires to get into the World's Fair on some plan which will be profitable to him and his associates. Considering his ability and his talents and also the layout of the World's Fair Grounds, what field would be open to him in which he could make some money at the World's Fair? (A) There are many channels of activity and many varied manners of approach to an undertaking of such a nature. These as we find, considering all of the abilities and the qualifications of the body, would be in the main quite a diversion - unless the approach was through that channel in which there would be not a DIRECT income but that as would add to the conditions which represent the field of activity in which the entity is engaged. Hence in those fields in which there is the displaying of the communications, or instruments of various natures. The associations with Brunswick and all of its KINDRED outlines would be a channel through which there might be activities that would NOT put question marks after the efforts of the entity. These would give not only the opportunities then for the developments with the records but with also cabinets which would in a manner give such an attendant the opportunity for the delivery of, or the expressions as to furnitures that
257-206 Page 2
would be rather in keeping with the efforts of the body, and upon such a plane of activity that there would be the income that would arise from such an experiment or outlay or activity.
5. (Q) What plan could he work out with the Fair Association that would be profitable to him and enable him to have an office at the Fair? (A) Only through those channels or in those ways or manners as just indicated.
6. (Q) There is in his office at ... a case showing a panorama of a religious picture known as Golgotha. There is also a picture on top of the case which shows the portrait itself. Who would be the best man in N. Y. or the best organization in N.Y. to direct this picture and present it to the public at the Fair? (A) In all deference to the desires, this may only be presented, as we find, with or as a part of a congress or activity in which comparative religions will be a part of the great program that will be presented through some portions of the season of the Fair. Hence through such an organization, and in a way and manner that will be in keeping with the intent and purpose of the artist as well as those who should be in the position of having same, or connected with same being presented. This would be a most excellent manner; but for this to be as a separate exhibition or as a part of something where there is sought remuneration for just visioning same, is not in keeping with the purposes not the conditions and experiences that are shown in same.
7. (Q) The picture hangs in the Civic Opera House at Chicago - it is 244' long and 48' high and shows the entire painting from the birth of Christ to the Crucifixion with 9000 figures life-size including a picture of the Master. Would this picture be of general interest to the public at the World's Fair? (A) As indicated, this is all visioned here, and would be in keeping with such a program and might become, through such a channel, a part of an exhibition that would be not only attractive but helpful and beneficial to those who would present such an activity.
8. (Q) In what kind of building should it be shown? (A) As just indicated - where there will be the comparative religions presented.
9. (Q) Under what auspices should it be shown? (A) As just indicated.

10. (Q) Can we tie up the work of Edgar Cayce with this picture? (A) Only as this is in keeping with the COMPARATIVE influences that may be drawn from incidents that may be visioned by those in drawing comparisons through the periods given to speakers for such an occasion.
11. (Q) Would any particular charity sponsor a picture of this kind? (A) As we find, it would be better in keeping with those suggestions indicated.
12. (Q) Would John Haynes Holmes [He is looking to meet EC; he attended Marjorie meetings], whose office is at 550 W. 110th, be the man to sponsor a thing of this kind or would the Catholic Church be the better avenue? (A) As we find, it will be more effective, with more of the abilities for it to be of value to the whole of the organization or associations or activities, for it to come under the presentation of the churches as indicated. [5/4/39 Mr. [257] wrote: "The Judge Brandeis family believe that Mr. Holmes is the greatest contributor to our safety in America. He unhesitatingly speaks all over the nation in behalf of the minorities."]
13. (Q) What would be the best publicity channel for a picture of this kind? (A) Just as has been indicated.
14. (Q) Is there any other item which might be used at the Fair which might bring revenue on a large scale? (A) As we find in these things - while many varied things might be chosen, they would not be in keeping with the abilities and the affluence the entity desires to remain in, in associations with and its activities with its fellow man. Here there is the opportunity for an advancing, through a specific channel in which not the immediate but directly and indirectly financial returns or remuneration would come back to not only the entity itself in ITS dealings with the general public but the purposes for which the entity would stand before the public as a whole.
15. (Q) There is in [257]'s office beside his desk a foot vibrator which has been patented by Dr. Berg. Could this be placed all over the Fair grounds so that people could get a foot massage when they were tired, for 5 cents or 10 cents? [William M. Berg, Ph.T.] (A) This may be very well used in such an exposition; but it may be fostered not directly by [257] - rather would this come through such conditions, such placements as would arise from BENEFITS by the Fair Association itself. This would be upon the grounds or in buildings in various places,
257-206 Page 4
and would be a most HELPFUL thing. But this would be as in the Fair Association itself doing the presenting, though [257] or associates might have revenue directly from the use of same - if it is approved by the Fair Association.
16. (Q) Who would be the best firm to handle advertising in the placing of this machine? (A) It is not a matter of advertising - it is a matter of it being presented. Just as would be any shoeshine, or any conveniences for the benefits of patrons of the Fair, and might be set in many varied places in the varied buildings, see?
17. (Q) Who should they see? (A) This can ONLY go through those regular channels of the Fair Association itself.
18. (Q) Is there any connection from a furniture standpoint that could be worked out to the advantage of [257] and associates? (A) As has been indicated.
19. (Q) What firms are looking for people with our talents in the World's Fair? Give specific names. In what capacity? (A) These as indicated would be through those channels in which communications and activities are to be demonstrated and illustrated in the various portions of the Fair.
20. (Q) What personal service organization can be set up that would be profitable during this time? (A) These would be things that would be out of the line of [257]'s activities; though if he chooses - choose those that would be of some DEFINITE service as to the conveniences and to add to the pleasure and the comfort of those who would be patrons of such an occasion.
21. (Q) Any other suggestions? (A) As indicated, if these are worked out they can redown [redound?] to a helpful influence in the affairs of [257].
