1. GC: You will have before you the property of Nicholas J. Dire, a Plat of which I hold in my hand, in Township 3 North, range 4 West, in Vinegar Bend, Washington County, Alabama. You will tell us the mineral and oil possibilities of this property, and answer the questions which will be submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes.
3. As we find, in these areas - and especially portions indicated as being the property of Nicholas J. Dire - there may be found productions of oil and gas, but at a considerable depth.
4. While in the areas of the producing sands, it is at a considerable depth for the consideration of commercial production; at least thirty-eight to forty-two hundred (3800 to 4200) feet.
5. As to minerals of other natures or character - we find there are some portions where there might be obtained what is termed as Fuller's earth, and a character of soap-stone. However, we find this is at rather a low depth, making it impractical for commercial use - unless other conditions arise than exist in the present concerning the value of such.
6. The real value in the areas indicated, as we find, would be in the oil productions; and these would be of the long lasting character, though not of the highest gravity - but of such a gravity as to be of a real commercial value to those who would produce same.
7. These are in those areas closer to where there are the indications of the folds, towards the more northern portion, - though beyond the river, of course - lying in the uplift. There is a fold, though, that comes over that area where there would be a crossing in the almost central portion of this indicated area - just north by west of same.
8. To be sure, it would be better to reach production through the new type of the rotary activity, or rotary

directing, rotary drilling; but using the coring process before same, or AS there is the entering into the area from at least the twenty-eight hundred (2800) to the lower levels.
9. Ready for questions.
10. (Q) What grade oil is located here? (A) As indicated, not the highest - but that of the paraffin base.
11. (Q) What other minerals are in the various sections marked with an "X"? (A) As indicated, these are beyond the depth for commercial value, unless other conditions arise than exist in the present respecting same, so as to make them more valuable. Most of these would be indicated, anyway, by the actual test drilling for the real commercial values.
12. (Q) Is there any oil deposit in any other section of this territory that would be more valuable than the properties owned by Nicholas Dire? (A) We have nothing to do with that - neither has he the right to ask!
