Time of Reading 10:35 to 11:05 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. HLC: You will have before you the body and mind of [257] ... Ave., N.Y.C., also his business associates and associations. You will go over his body and advise as to his improvement, answering the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257]; his associations and activities.

3. In the physical body we find there are both good and bad influences. While there are improvements in some directions, a great many of those tendencies - to be sure - still exist.

4. Those applications which have been made from time to time, in many ways are helpful; in others they make for disturbances which aggravate the body-mind - more than the conditions disturbed.

5. Hence they do not give the full relief as they might, yet are beneficial - from the purely physical angle.

6. Ready for questions.

7. (Q) Has treatment at Reilly's aided me properly? (A) As indicated, there are helpful influences derived from same. At times these become aggravating influences, because of taking the time - or because of the conditions under which the body takes the treatments. But we would continue with these, and with more of the attitude not as just something to be done, or to be gotten through with, or as something that is to be taken when the body has the time and forgotten when it doesn't!

8. (Q) Why did blood show about 10 days ago - small discharge in stool? Is this improving? (A) Overactivity and the general strain produced through the system by the inclinations to "try and see whether this will affect me this time or not."

9. (Q) Should I continue Reilly's treatments this Spring, or will exercise outside in garden or walking be better?

257-230 Page 2

(A) We would occasionally have the treatments. These will not be replaced by exercise. For, the exercises as would be the most beneficial are too easily put off; or they are taken one day and then it will be many days before they are taken again. Take the exercise, though, and the walking; and do it regularly.

10. (Q) Does Sun Ray Mercury Lamp aid my body, taken for 10 min. at a time? (A) It is an aid, if it is taken at the proper time. If taken when there has been the massage or the relaxing of the body, it proves beneficial.

11. (Q) Could I take occasionally a drink of beer or a gin drink, or should I abstain entirely? (A) Can take it alright! but it will not be very good for the body; as we have indicated again and again!

12. (Q) Should I take K tablets any further? (A) We would have rather the series; that is, take them for regular periods and then leave them off for regular periods, of about ten days each way.

13. (Q) Should I use suppositories at all? (A) It is very well to use these most of the time.

14. (Q) What causes the pain in back, on right side, when arising? What should be done to aid? (A) The massage and the exercise is the best thing to aid. This is the tendency for the adjusting of the organs, or the intestinal system, by and through those changes that have been wrought by the operative forces. Any condition where there has been a removal of any portion, and the two ends of the system connected, naturally draws upon some other part of the body, see? Hence with any unusual amount of strain, either by long hours or too violent a change in the activities, there is produced the tiredness - and it is felt most after the body has relaxed thoroughly - as it does in sleep. [Colon tumor surgery performed 4/23/40.] Then, keep up the exercise and the massage, and - of course - the light here is the most valuable, and should be applied to the back, especially at that area.

15. (Q) Considering necessary business activities, has my rest and relaxation been sufficient? (A) As may be indicated from the suggestions above, and as given heretofore, there is not as much consistency as there should be in those periods of the rest. There should be more regular periods of rest, see?

16. (Q) As to war conditions, is it advisable as yet for me

257-230 Page 3

to offer my services to any special department in Washington, or at Governor's Island? (A) In consideration of those things which have come about recently, in the government declaring "all out" aid - and considering the activities of the body in those departments, as to how the various portions were coordinated in the distribution of various types of equipment (though in the present the activities would be almost the reverse) - we find that it would be very well. But do so, when done, at Washington; and let the record be the provisions under which there would be carried on activities.

17. (Q) What special department would you recommend? (A) As just indicated, in the supplies - See? [See Life Rdg. 257-10.]

18. (Q) Should I work thru Edw. Weseley of the O.P.M. Board, whose offices are 812 Southern Bldg., Wash., D.C., for Radio Contracts or Gun Stocks or other war materials? or had I better go direct to the departments? (A) Go direct to the departments; though this might be confused with those suggestions indicated above - for one is not wholly in compliance with the other, see?

19. (Q) As to Henry Winogrand, Pres. the Mersman Co., Celina, O. - why has he written the letter changing his promise to build Brunswick line? (A) This is owing to labor conditions and those things that are making for some anxieties on the part of the organization. As we find, these might be better handled if all the problems are carried out through the Manufacturers Trust for the absorbing or consolidating of the Brunswick with the Mersman. And through the next few months would be the right season for considering such, provided the obligations in other directions do not hinder the body. The decisions as to which to choose may best be made by the body itself. Remember, however, that if there are the future emergencies the body is subject to call, whether desired or not!

20. (Q) What should I do now to meet the conditions in Radio and Cabinets? (A) As we find, and as indicated, this may be under certain circumstances a very good time for the carrying out of those possibilities and probabilities of knowing or being able to direct the policies of this organization; which might be turned almost wholly to Radio Cabinets - or with the following out of associations and connections in other

257-230 Page 4

directions may prove the better, see?

21. (Q) Will Mersman continue to build cabinets and assemble, even in face of letter and advice of Winogrand? (A) It can be forced to! but is it well to force that which is not the better policy and that would not - or should not be the best? But this will depend upon circumstance, to be sure.

22. (Q) Is Henry Winogrand sincere in his promises and statements to me? (A) Sincere, so far as the ability of the individual is concerned; but remember, there are others - under the circumstances - also pressing Winogrand.

23. (Q) Should I seek loan now for $500,000 to buy Mersman stock and thereby control the Company at this time, or is there a better plan for getting my merchandise made - now and in future? (A) As has just been outlined.

24. (Q) Will Wm. Dunn, 55 Broad St., Manufacturers Trust, Vice-Pres., be able now to get money needed? and if so how should I place plan before him that will work to best interest of all concerned? (A) As has been indicated. Here, let's not confuse - now - with other problems, other conditions that may arise. As we find, there are many various ways. But the combination with the sale of stock, and stock as the security, should be sufficient to enable all concerned to carry on in a most satisfactory manner.

25. (Q) Can I float a stock issue now, using Garod Radio Factory and Brunswick Selling Company as a basis for both figures and possibilities combined? (A) Very good, if this is the choice.

26. (Q) Should Weisburgh and I continue to work alone, or is this the time to merge completely with Werntraub of Garod Radio in Brooklyn, N.Y., or is there a better way? (A) As we have indicated, this is the time.

27. (Q) Should I get a government Radio Contract for Garod, or better place in Fado factory in Long Island? (A) This would be very well - in the Garod.

28. (Q) Is this after considering best welfare of the Brunswick line for 1941-2? (A) As we have indicated, this is taking ALL conditions into consideration.

29. (Q) Is present plan of Brunswick sales under Weisburgh and 4 special men - New England, Philadelphia, Chicago and West Coast - the best plan to operate under, or is there a better one?

257-230 Page 5

(A) In the present this is the better plan.

30. (Q) Is present line of Cabinets under construction at Mersman satisfactory for new season, considering war and business conditions? (A) Satisfactory.

31. (Q) Is present line of Radio sets in 9-11 and 17 tubes, at Garod Factory, sufficient for needs of new season? (A) Good for needs of new season.

32. (Q) Please advise as to association with Edw. Ridgeway, who is either in my office or in Vanderbilt Hotel now, and his Skandea factory at Rockford, Ill? Will this be a good and satisfactory plant to build cabinets for G.E.? (A) It CAN ba made so! In the present, not the best. As we find, through this association - while it would require moneys, and yet it would not be necessary if the combinations are carried through as indicated above is the time to do - and DO NOT tie up self in such associations if there is to be carried through the combination! but if this combination is NOT carried through in the present, it may be worked out. But if the combination isn't carried through this year, it won't be! But the activities in the Carolina plant may become a means for handling the cabinet situation. But as we have indicated heretofore, IF this is to be used as the means or outlet, let it be combined or in connection with those who are either personally or individually connected with the organizations for whom the body [257] wishes to supply cabinets!

33. (Q) Can the connection with Ridgeway be valuable for me as well as G.E. and Ridgeway? (A) As indicated.

34. (Q) How can it be improved or made more valuable to each? (A) As just outlined.

35. (Q) Should Ridgeway and I have a written agreement of any kind, and what should it contain? (A) If you have any, have it written! and let it contain that which each agrees to do!

36. (Q) When will first orders be placed and how much should we take this year? (A) This depends upon the facilities and the abilities to supply. There must be some changes, if the finishes are to be satisfactory in the present plant. So, as we have indicated, the Carolina plant MAY BE MADE a satisfactory outlet. Though it may be expensive, it will be a better place than Rockford - or can be made so.

37. (Q) Will Ridgeway be able to buy Carolina Wood Products

257-230 Page 6

for me, or with me, from Atlas Co.? (A) As outlined, if there is the advisability of doing such, it can be done; but let it be in association with those whom you hope to supply!

38. (Q) Would Ridgeway be a good man to operate Carolina Wood Products Co.? (A) We wouldn't have advised any connection if he hadn't been good!
