Time of Reading 11:05 to 11:40 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., N.Y.
1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [257] ..., N.Y. who seeks a complete physical diagnosis, reviewing his body since it is one year from the operation. You will give his blood count, pressure of blood, urine analysis, explaining the chemical change of his body at present and what to do now to bring his health to normal. You will then answer the questions he has submitted, as to his health, his mental and material affairs:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257].
3. If there is the desire for the blood count and pressure, go and have it made! This is more in keeping with the wishes and the desires!
4. As to the general physical conditions since last we had same here - as we have indicated heretofore, unless there is the adherence to those suggestions that have been made for the body, it will not be another year before there will be greater disturbances through the body than there has been. [GD's note: 4/23/40 He had surgery for removal of tumor (polyps) in colon.]
5. While conditions are not such that may not be controlled, there must be some controlling of the activities of the body and of those things as would give the bettered conditions for the body.
6. These have been warnings to the body again and again. If the body feels it should, or desires to combine other things that have been indicated by individuals (we are not speaking of physicians, but of various other conditions), then adhere to those and forget the warnings that have been made!
7. But, if there is the desire on the part of the body to fulfill better and more completely those purposes for which it has made the pronouncements, then it must act in that manner! Does the body really feel that way or is it wishful thinking, or is it the hope that we may "get by"?
8. There are no short cuts! One MUST meet self. It will not do to observe certain rules today and forget them tomorrow, or to be very patient and careful this week and
257-232 Page 2
then say "Well, I've just got to do this - so I hope I'll get by"! These are the ways of life.
9. As we have so oft warned the body, there are those conditions that arise in the body in various forms and manners as to disturbances. To be sure, then, there ARE those necessities for keeping in line with those things that have been suggested.
10. Take plenty of rest as well as exercise, as well as work; as well as being careful of the diet, as well as those things that are preventatives, as well as those things that are correctives through the various channels that have been indicated.
11. At least once a week have the hydrotherapy for the general circulation. This should include the sweats and rubs, and occasionally a colonic - though not too much; do not dilate the colon too much, with the conditions in the upper portion of same so tender, but the washing out or flushing is well.
12. There are the tendencies of the body to revert to disturbances by the unbalanced conditions through the system and the continuing to form the lymph pockets that may become infectious and form conditions that cause the drainage of blood through the stool, and thus become infected and again be very disturbing.
13. Hence, to keep better conditions in these directions, we would go regularly at least twice each week to one who may apply the Ultra-Violet (preferably to one to whom the body goes regularly - such as Reilly or Dobbins), and apply same in this way and manner: The Ultra-Violet would be at least thirty-eight inches (38") from the body, with the projection of the dark glass - not the blue-green but the dark green glass - twelve inches (12") from the body, between the Ultra-Violet AND the body!
14. Do that every Tuesday and every Friday - every Tuesday and every Friday! This doesn't mean once a month; it means EVERY Tuesday, EVERY Friday, in EVERY week of the month, for at least three to four months! Else, there may be expected greater and greater disturbances.
15. Be mindful of the diets, as indicated; for these change, to be sure - as does the blood pressure, as does the respiratory system or the pulsation; owing not only to physical activity but the general stress of the nervous system through the body.
16. In the present these are not off from near to normal, now; but, under tiredness, these change; causing deflections and producing itching in portions of the body, or causing at times the filling of some of the pockets in the lymph -
257-232 Page 3
through the activities of the intestinal system - that act in the form of lacteal drainages that become lymph pockets, and thus ooze blood into the system. These may again become involved, unless precautions are taken and unless the more consistent and better activities are kept through the system.
17. In the diets, follow rather closely to those things given. These are not amiss. Do not "tempt" self because there is the appetite for same. This is what is meant by "no short cuts." You can't do a thing and not meet it, so you may as well expect it!
18. Ready for questions.
19. (Q) What causes the constant annoyance or worry that appears in pit of stomach from general condition? (A) This, as has been indicated, is the forming of pockets, or lymph pockets, in lacteal ends - by irritation, because of the unbalanced condition in the chemical forces generally of the body. Hence the use of the Ultra-Violet Light; the Mercury Quartz - not the Carbon Light.
20. (Q) Is beef roast or beef steak of peculiar effect to my body in any way? (A) Depends upon the kind of steak or roast, how old it is, and how prepared. Yes, it has a bad effect at times. If these are prepared properly, they may be taken occasionally, but DO NOT GORGE the self when such is done, nor use it with those things that produce gas.
21. (Q) What principal food and drink is best for next 3 months or thru this summer? (A) Do not take carbonated waters; these are not good for the body. Vegetables to be sure, and fruits, should be the principal foods. Fish, fowl, or lamb, and beef occasionally may be taken; but not fried foods.
22. (Q) What will bring wound closer together and make scar smaller, as it has done in past 6 mo.? (A) This is as it is, and - unless there is greater precaution - will be rather inclined to spread than to become smaller. Do the things as indicated. And when applying the Ultra-Violet with the green glass (and don't do it without the green glass, see?) - apply it first over the back area, opposite the wound, and the next over the wound - or abdominal areas.
23. (Q) Please explain what was meant by going to Washington to offer services on an all out basis, giving the exact department and person to see, and suggestion for approach and discussion. (A) Go back and see what you asked to do? Be consistent
257-232 Page 4
with the things that are suggested! You asked if it would be well to offer your services to do certain things! Do you want to do it, or were you just questioning? Be consistent! Offer, through those departments, to make ANY - as has been indicated. The body frustrates itself at times by making proposals or asking for information on that it would NOT be able to deliver if the proposition were offered, see? Then, just look back as to what was asked. If you are in a position to do that, then offer. In what department? The department at the head of that you plan to do! As to who to see - those who are the buyers, or who make the connections for the filling of such conditions, see?
24. (Q) Please advise me who is best partner in the Brunswick Co. for the expansion program this year: Ben Abrams, 111 - 8th Ave., Emerson Radio, or Manufacturers' Trust Co., Wm. Dunn, or Ridgeway of Skandia? (A) This has been given. Hold to that as given - or consider that given or pointed out as to how the various ones might be effective - or used. Then choose. WE would give Ridgeway. You may choose otherwise if you desire.
25. (Q) Should I plan to bring in partners or follow on present financial basis with Mersman? (A) It has been indicated that gradually there is the releasing of these through the activities with Mersman. Why do you confuse yourself, or attempt to confuse the sources attempting to give you the information, thus making yourself confused and the information worthless?
26. (Q) What may be expected from Government standpoint regarding selling of radio this year? (A) Good outlet, as indicated; not only to the Government but in many and all of those places where there are Government centers or where Government groups are now located.
27. (Q) Should I have new offices for Brunswick in the furniture district or up town - 46th St. or above? (A) Choose this best according to whatever connections are made, and these will necessarily have to be consulted.
28. (Q) Please advise me as to best procedure considering American, Mersman, Skandia, Brunswick. (A) This has been given. Hold to American. If practical,
257-232 Page 5
make those connections with Skandia - or Ridgeway.
29. (Q) Should I become a vice-president of Skandia next week? (A) This depends upon whether it involves, or whether it gives opportunities to the body and its connections.
30. (Q) Should I be announced as chairman of the board of the Brunswick next week? (A) This, too, will depend upon what determining factors these are to be carried through. As we find, this would be very well.
31. (Q) Considering the American situation, what will my future be during '41-42? (A) This depends upon what effort is made, and how, in these directions. As we find, and as indicated, the policies of the American are necessary for the training of self. Though you may think you are very well graduated, you are a long ways from being perfect! A good salesman, yes - but you need better policies, that are more consistent in your activities with the word of mouth. Hence the policies of the American are a good training school for the self. Keep with those, and keep those same policies in your dealings with others as well as in what you say. Rules are not made merely to be broken. Not that the breaking of them is not at times indicated, but don't speak one thing and do another!
32. (Q) What is my best procedure and what should I put most of my attention to? (A) As indicated again and again, the body has at times sought too many disturbances by having various conditions and too many irons in the fire. Varied seasons represent varied activities. Stress those at their regular periods.
33. (Q) Will G.E. now place business with the Skandia plant considering the present equipment? (A) As indicated, if there appears to be that desired in finish, it will. If not, it will not.
34. (Q) Will Skandia deliver fine quality furniture and please Emerson and G.E. when present equipment is set up? (A) Will it rain tomorrow, or will it snow in December? This depends - it is not just something that is ground out! It will depend upon the activity and the thought of individuals! and the desire, the purpose of those concerned in preparing and doing same! They are capable! Will they? Ask yourself. As indicated, the best way to indicate it is to finish and see if it is in keeping with that asked for by those who are to distribute same.
35. (Q) What should the relation now be between Ridgeway of
257-232 Page 6
Skandia and me, since we have worked together so closely and seem to understand one another? (A) This is what seemingly is for the best. As to whether these are to be the channels as to be worked out - you will have to determine in your own selves.
36. (Q) Please advise me as to warnings and the making of decisions during this month? (A) Take self in hand. Do not take that indicated here as to policies and as to manner other than in the way it is meant; and THAT is the manner in which choices should be made.
37. (Q) Considering the war conditions as well as government regulations, should I accept Government's offer of the Arthurdale furniture development at Readville, Pa., in accordance with Mrs. Roosevelt's wishes? (A) We do not find this as being other than becoming involved where there would be some questions. If this is changed so that it may be worked in with other things it might be considered, but not under the present set-up.
38. (Q) Considering the various enterprises in which I am interested, please direct me now as to the proper procedure on the following: Mersman Bros. as to merger or as to affiliation or purchase in which I can have a share. How is this done and what is best for a future with security? (A) As has been indicated. As we find, the possibilities (policies?) with Mersman - if there is the closer affiliation with Skandia - will be farther and farther apart. Then, why would there be a merger - unless it would be a great LARGE proposition, and this would not be practical - under existing laws and those conditions as would arise in such an attempt.
39. (Q) American Furniture Co. of Martinsville (A) (Interrupting) Work with it!
40. (Q) Skandia of Rockford and Edw. Ridgeway - who best to work with him and to get a share of the common stock of that business as promised by Ridgeway? (A) This has been indicated. The choices in same must be made between self and Ridgeway, and according to the abilities to meet the needs of the character of trade you have been supplying.
41. (Q) Which is the proper connection, if any, to consider merging Brunswick Co. now, or is there a better opportunity coming to me? Please explain the possibilities and avenues or openings that Brunswick can aid to bring to all of us security and happiness. (A) Forget the security and happiness until you have made the Brunswick that in which it may supply the needs in the
257-232 Page 7
experience of others. As to which association or connection or merger - we do not find NOW - the time has passed as to the BEST merger, with Mersman!
42. (Q) Decca Record Co., Milton Diamond or Jack Kapp of 50 W. 57th St., 15th floor, N.Y., the purchasers of Brunswick Corp.? (A) These we find hangers on. Rather than being of any value, you have to watch them!
43. (Q) Please review G.E. Radio Cabinet possibilities at Bridgeport. I received the teaser indirectly - what is my next move and procedure at Skandia, Rockford? (A) This is very good, provided there can be delivered that needed. The next move is as indicated.
44. (Q) What is present development at Skandia and ability in comparison with six weeks ago, when the plan was first started? (A) As indicated, let the product speak for itself.
45. (Q) What is holding up the giving of business now and what is my next procedure to get business? (A) To be able to supply that desired!
46. (Q) As to Republic Steel Investment in preferred and common, would it be better to hold or convert into the Jones and Laughlin preferred which has $40 in back dividends? What is best for next 6 months safety of principal? (A) We do not find that either of these will be other than VERY speculative and very questionable. As a holding for the dividends, in the preferred of Republic Steel, it is still good. As speculation, not so good.
47. We are through for the present. Copy to Self - Ass'n file " " Wife (Sheet of directions were enclosed for Harold J. Reilly, Ph.T.) Ph.T.)
