Time of Reading 10:50 to 11:35 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., N.Y.
1. GC: You will have before you the body of [257], present in this room. Please review this mental and physical body and his material interests so he can be guided and reassured that he is conducting himself to the pleasure and satisfaction of God and his fellow man. You will answer the questions he submits, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257]; this we have had before.
3. In the physical forces of the body we find the conditions in the main are very good. There are still those effects of a strain in the activities of the body, so as to produce drainages at times. These are in the sphincter muscles and nerves in the present.
4. NOW we would use this, which - if it is used properly - will not only act as a restrainer but be healing in that those portions affected will become coagulated and heal from within. Prepare for each time this is used, using it after the stool, if there are the conditions of bleeding - or blood. Prepare: Glycerine..............................1 ounce, PURIFIED Carbolic Acid.................2 drops.
5. Shake these together thoroughly. Then add 4 ounces of Russian White Oil. Mix THIS together thoroughly. Use this in a force syringe. After this has remained for a few minutes it may be expunged or absorbed by the system.
6. But if this is kept, and then the precautions as to diet, and the refraining from those foods or properties to which the body is allergic, we will find this will heal these disturbances.
7. Ready for questions.
8. (Q) Why does gas form and make such a loud noise or discharge? (A) This is the natural effect of any character of inflammation in the lower intestinal tract.
257-238 Page 2
At least once a day take, for this, three to five drops of Glyco-Thymoline in water. It may be well occasionally also to use this in the enema to clean or clear the rectal area; the proportions being a tablespoonful to a quart and a half of water.
9. (Q) I am taking "K" vitamin - 3 each day and Caroid at night, using a suppository. Is this right or wrong, in connection with present treatment advised today? (A) Use these as we have just indicated in place of the suppository, and occasionally - once a week or oftener if necessary - cleanse with the warm Glyco-Thymoline solution.
10. (Q) Eliminate entirely the "K" vitamin? (A) This may not be eliminated. We said eliminate the suppository.
11. (Q) Is there any connection between an operation and present condition? (A) No.
12. (Q) What is condition from operation? (A) This is healed near to normal. There are only reflexes or gas pressures that cause an uncomfortableness at times, by the pressure upon the area where the incisions or the healings were made.
13. (Q) I have been eating a lot of yellow foods. Is my diet to be improved or changed, or is it satisfactory? (A) This is very good.
14. (Q) Are yellow sweet potatoes considered a yellow food? (A) Yellow sweet potatoes are a yellow food. They DO carry much of those influences that cause gas, but this is not an objectionable thing if it does not produce too great an amount, see?
15. (Q) Walking to factory daily - is that enough exercise at Arthurdale? (A) There should be more as exercise, but this is very good. Walk a good deal in the sunshine.
16. (Q) Should I abstain from beef entirely, or can I have steak once a week? (A) If it is THOROUGHLY cooked, once a week - but masticate it well.
17. (Q) Is it possible to find a good beer that won't harm? (A) It is the effect of hops and its products in the system that is harmful. It would be hard to find one that would not bring disturbance. Let's cleanse the system. Then we may be able to later, but don't try it too soon.
18. (Q) Raw apples such as Grimes Golden are in season at Arthurdale. Is it all right to eat these raw? (A) If not too much at a time, and these are well
257-238 Page 3
masticated - a little may be taken. Don't overindulge on these.
19. (Q) What sea foods are best for me? (A) Any or all sea foods are well.
20. (Q) Are raw clams as good as cooked clams? (A) Raw clams are well, provided they are fresh and not taken too often. But they supply elements that are very necessary in the body.
21. (Q) Exactly where does blood start from? (A) The second and the third sphincter muscle.
22. (Q) What danger or effect on body caused by blood discharge, since I feel fine otherwise? (A) There is the lack of vitality as produced by such natural drainages. And the area being inflammatory because of breaking of tissues may spread, see?
23. (Q) Give treatment that can be used and found in and near Arthurdale, West Va., where I reside? (A) The hot showers, the walks daily in the sunshine when there is such - or the use of the ultra-violet when not too much of this is had. These will be beneficial, with the following of those suggestions given.
24. (Q) Am I getting enough B-1 at the present time? (A) At the present time, yes.
25. (Q) Is the body forming new pockets in colon, or am I overcoming same? (A) We do not find new pockets that are not of a normal nature. Remember - as indicated time and again - these pockets are oft the attempt of the system, through the lymph pocket, to discharge those influences that act as assimilating things. These form and then discharge, but this is not of the nature that is detrimental unless they form and DO NOT discharge - as was the case with that removed, see? These form and do not discharge, by those formations in the system from conditions where coagulation is produced that prevents lymph from being discharged. While there must be perfect coagulation in the internal as well as lymph flow and the like, these CAN or do at times - in bodies where there are the tendencies for accumulations - form pockets that become either adherences or gristly portions, or cysts, or conditions in the lymph itself such that there may be pockets in muscle, in tissue, in groin, in any portion where there are quantities of lymph flow - so that THROUGH the adherence such conditions are caused at times. These in themselves may become such as to produce protuberances or formations that may grow and then disintegrate. Hence the needs of the body, in this particular body's
257-238 Page 4
activities, to refrain from those foods that cause such conditions to become overactive in the system. There are the necessities for activities in exercise to use the energies and replace same rather than causing accumulations.
26. (Q) Since Mrs. [Eleanor] Roosevelt invited me to Washington to see her, what is her opinion of me and my work now? (A) Very satisfactory.
27. (Q) Should I ask her at this time for an introduction to Jesse Jones financial help at Arthurdale for 1942, or wait until a later date? (A) Wait until about the middle or latter portion of December. Let the activities be such that there will be the assurance of the better activities through the actions in Arthurdale.
28. (Q) What are the prospects for the factory's continued success under the direction of [257] and his associates Brown and Johnson? (A) Unless there are other conditions arising, these are very good. Of course, there needs be those precautions that in the shipping and in the ordering there are no waste motions, nor waste by long activities without the full returns for products shipped.
29. (Q) How can I avoid these conditions? (A) Only by being careful as to the reliability of all shipments as well as the care in the production that there is NOT waste material nor waste motion in the production of the products themselves.
30. (Q) Should I continue to spend all my time at Arthurdale? (A) As much as is necessary to keep all in order.
31. (Q) Should I plan to take my family there any time between now and the first of the year, to stay with me? (A) We do not find this proper, owing to other contingencies.
32. (Q) How much time can I spend in the East now without going back? (A) Two weeks.
33. (Q) Should I ask Mrs. Roosevelt to aid me in getting a colonelcy in the reserve or wait until a later date? (A) Better wait until a later date, unless you want to use it and lose out on all the things you are doing at present!
34. (Q) Isn't it better for me to continue doing what I am doing, rather than going in the army? (A) Going in the army for this body, with the present conditions, would be very bad.
35. (Q) I asked Mrs. Roosevelt to aid me at the War Department for a contract for tables, desks and the like which will be bought on the 6th of Nov. by the War Dept.
257-238 Page 5
She did. What will be the result of my visits with Gen. Corbin on Thursday? (A) These will be satisfactory, and there will be more on order than is now even contemplated.
36. (Q) Did I conduct myself properly with the people I have met so far at the War Dept.? (A) We do not find fault, but this of course should be determined by self - rather than from other sources. Remember, these conditions exist, and keep this ever before thee: The real intent and purpose in declarations call from the spiritual forces that influence which is for good or bad. That, to be sure, is free will. Hence the injunctions as have been so oft given the body - do not appear to be that ye really are not. Be sincere with self and ye will not be false or insincere with others. The spirit of truth brings the outward appearance of that desire first suggested, if the body and mind are in keeping with that as would be pleasing to the influences or forces called God. For, the declaration of each soul sets in motion that spirit. What spirit do ye entertain? Truth, justice, mercy, love, patience, brotherly kindness? Or self, self-praise, self-glory that ye may be wellspoken of materially? These choices are made by the individual. Their results, their effects in the lives of individuals are such as to determine spiritual success, material success, or a well-rounded mental, spiritual AND material success. For, the earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof. The abilities that have been lent thee, keep inviolate - if ye would be in keeping with His purposes with thee. Thou hast the ability to bring truth and light to many. These are then within thine own keeping, according to the manner in which ye conduct thyself before others. With what spirit, with what purpose do ye serve?
37. (Q) Since my original Life Reading [See 257-5 & 257-10] advised me to enter public life in my later years, advise me as to the best program to follow now for my future development and best service to God and man. (A) Isn't it leading in those directions? Aren't the associations and activities carrying to where there should be not the demand from self to others for promotion, place or position, but so conduct self that those in authority, those in places of confidence, will CHOOSE that the entity conduct this or that phase of the activities for public life!
257-238 Page 6
In these, refer to the activities in the associations in the earth. Once the entity failed, when put in authority. Then there are the tendencies for laudation of self in these directions. Not that these are to be curbed, but rather purposely use same in the service to others, NOT glory for self.
38. (Q) How can my former associate C. B. Bryan now in OPM help me further to be successful at Arthurdale? (A) There only needs to be such an association as to deserve, as to demand, as to proclaim that there are still the equal footings, or equal purposes in the activity, for this association to be kept upon that plane that there is not a lording of one over the other.
39. (Q) What procedure can he help me with and how shall we proceed together to work it out? (A) Let these be as natural developments, rather than choosing or working toward any DEFINITE things. These will come to be definite, as the various associations and activities come into materialization.
40. (Q) A visit is being planned by the Secretary of Agriculture, Wickard and his wife, to Arthurdale. Please guide me in my conduct with them. (A) This, as with all other activities, should not be an overemphasizing of self but an emphasizing of the good being accomplished in the lives and experiences of those about the project. Stress rather those things not as YE have done, but that are being done by others through your assistance in aiding them to gain better understanding.
41. (Q) What can I do in N. Y. on this trip to help our plans at Arthurdale? (A) Only in the connections or associations, and not as overlording or bragging, but as of a real service; so that others in their activities may also join in creating greater defense activities throughout the land.
42. (Q) Dr. Baker [Dr. W. R. G. Baker] has been made a vice- president of G.E. Should he now be approached as to Arthurdale business and aid for development of plan? (A) This should come later, as we find, after the first of the year. He is approachable, to be sure, but there should be some of the things out of the way and some of the accomplishments a fact. Then there will be grounds or basis for better prospects of a better association and connection.
43. (Q) How can Mrs. Roosevelt help us with Dr. Baker? (A) This will come, too, as a natural consequence of an association or meeting, when there is the visit of Baker to the plant.
44. (Q) When will be the best time to again see Mrs. Roosevelt?
257-238 Page 7
(A) About the 18th - of December.
45. (Q) Shall I lead at that time into my psychic experiences? (A) This will depend upon the kind, or the circumstances surrounding this meeting. This would better come in a visit of Mrs. Roosevelt to Arthurdale.
46. (Q) When will be the best time to suggest that visit? (A) About the 18th of December.
47. (Q) Shall we bring Smitty [Alfred E. Smith?] down from N.Y. to head up this division or will the local boys prove satisfactory? in assembly? (A) As we find, for the present we would keep the local boys. A little later, if the expansion becomes such, would be the time. Do not overburden or overtax the situations yet.
48. (Q) Are there any warnings we should have at this time in this connection or in connection with the cabinets themselves? (A) Keep in the way and manner as it is going - would be satisfactory.
49. (Q) Is there anyone whose help we should ask now in order to insure complete success to the Brunswick proposition for this operation? (A) At the present, as we find, all of these are satisfactory. A little later there will be needs for some re-financing, but this will come not before latter part of January or February.
50. (Q) Are the officials of the Farm Security Board, Mr. Gil Ford, Major Walker, Jim Goebel, Mason Barr, completely satisfied with the progress made to date? (A) These are very satisfactory. Of course, there are questions in the minds of some of these. But as we find, they are more than pleased, but are still wondering. So it needs the precautions that have been indicated, as to the declarations made and the purposes for same.
51. (Q) Are we handling labor properly here, or give us the necessary warnings? (A) These as we find may become problems a little bit later. In the present, though, these are very satisfactory. Let there be a constant stressing of this fact - do not have labor working FOR you, have it working WITH you! This should be stressed! Let each individual be encouraged in its activities with the feeling that it is "our" purpose, and not for the undertaking. This will create just that as indicated as to the purposes, not as to overlording but the all working TOGETHER. This will bring better conditions.
52. (Q) Floyd Odlum, owner of my old factory at Asheville, is the head of OPM. Is there a reason now to see him and discuss the operation of plant, or better keep strictly to Arthurdale?
257-238 Page 8
(A) Keep strictly to Arthurdale for the present.
53. (Q) Shall I put a bid in on Cushman as a sub-contractor, as well as Arthurdale on Government business for USO camps? (A) Make it from Arthurdale. This will be the greater stress. To be sure, there might be one from Cushman. But this would give all of those in authority the feeling of the insecurity in self, to turn to that as needed.
54. (Q) Who should I see about phonographs for USO? (A) These may be handled through any of those with which the self is associated, as well as the Brunswick and other makes, see? They each in their different places are to fill a different service. Those that may fill the best for such service should be considered.
55. (Q) As to home in Scarsdale, shall I continue to plan to live there - where we are now residing? (A) As we find, for the present - or for the next year, or nearly that period - yes.
56. (Q) As to the development of the farm, have conditions changed as to where I should endeavor to buy? (A) Conditions have changed considerably, because ye have that ye have been prompted to in thine own hands, see?
57. (Q) Is it satisfactory to consider a place there instead? (A) If there is the full, complete development (and there are the prospects for this), very well.
