1. GC: You will have before you the entity [257] ... N.Y.C., Room 510. Please go over the body - mental, physical and spiritual - and advise as to his present physical condition, with suggestions as to the corrections for his best welfare. You will then answer the questions which will be submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257]; this we have had before.
3. In the physical we find conditions in the present very satisfactory. There is little or no spreading of those infectious forces through the sphincter centers. Those conditions in the activity of the lymph glands are not excessive and are emptying normally. In these directions there needs to be kept the occasional hydrotherapy and massage, that there be no drying in any of the areas of the alimentary canal - so that the lymph flow is kept well, and that there be proper peristaltic movements in the muscular forces of the alimentary canal as a whole.
4. Occasionally, when there are the massages, special reference should be given to the lumbar areas, the upper sciatic centers, under the knees, and especially the bones of the feet - and when there is too much fullness, or when there are the catchy pains in any portion of the muscular forces of the body; hips, back, shoulder, or even the limbs - as the feet and the like. For, of course, the strains that have existed in the lumbar and sacral - from the anxiety mentally AND physically, through the lower portion of the colon and sphincter muscles - tend to lessen the flow to the lower extremities. This is indicated by the periods when feet become tired, at times cold or excessive in heat. And these have weakened the tendons and the bursa of the feet themselves.
5. Keep those precautions that have been indicated again and again as to diet; using as much foods as practical that are grown in the area where the body resides. Keep away from carbonated drinks. With the low amount of the vital
257-239 Page 2
energies that produce the proper hormones and the effluvia in the lymph circulation, these are hindered by the carbon gases in the soft drinks and products of hops. Hence beer, and carbonated drinks mostly, should be tabu. For, these tend to detract from the lymph flow of normalcy throughout the alimentary canal.
6. Watch the weight by adhering to sufficient of the grape juices which supply the proper character of sugars. And refrain from too much of sweets.
7. These should keep the body-forces good.
8. Be mindful that there is the closer adherence to those suggestions as to budgeting the time - for work, play, recreation, mental recreation, mental developments and all such phases of the experience.
9. These should keep a much nearer normal balance through these strenuous periods.
10. Ready for questions.
11. (Q) Was the discharge of blood this morning (first time in three months) of any consequence? What caused it? (A) It will be the recognition of that as we have indicated. When the body tries to test out or to see if it will do this or that, it OCCURS! Yet apparently the body does not learn its lesson and must pay the consequence! When such occurs, use the oil injections as indicated.
12. (Q) What will relieve dryness in head and throat? (A) This is the attempt of the system to coordinate the necessity of lymph flow through the body. These are lymph pockets or glands that cause dryness. The salivary glands, the throat glands all are drawn upon to attend or to give better activity through other portions of the body; thus causing dryness. Closer adherence to the applications and activities suggested should keep such away from the body. To have to continue to add properties to keep a balance, because of non-adherence to those first suggestions made, is not good - and is tempting the body and the better mental and physical interests of the body. A small quantity of any influence that produces better lymph flow would be well at such times - such as a GOOD activity from elm bark - this the slippery elm, and in water, see? or ANY of such principles.
13. (Q) How are eyes? (A) These are drawn upon by the same disturbances, and are needing more and more a stimulating effect or help from glasses. Do not do close work or reading without same.
257-239 Page 3
14. (Q) Considering business relations and conditions of country as affect me and my associations, now that war has been declared how long will it take the country to win it? (A) This depends upon many varied phases. Two years - yea three, before there will be the attempt to come back to normalcy.
15. (Q) Where will the main fighting take place as far as the U.S. is concerned? (A) Sea and air; though there will be the expeditionary forces in Russia, England, Egypt and in the east Netherlands - and Australia.
16. (Q) Should [257] feel safe in Scarsdale from bombings and enemy attacks for his family? (A) Why should he not? if he lives right!
17. (Q) Will it be necessary for me to join the armed forces, or is my present service acceptable to the leaders of the nation? (A) Owing to those priorities and to the cutting off of supplies for radio, which will come - it may be necessary for the body to become associated in some department. If this is the choice, DO be in that phase of the PURCHASING of properties, of all forms of supplies for the armed forces. The body's records in the sales will give an influence and the abilities in the purchasing end in the present. These activities, then, should go through those that are in charge of the "all out" effort, and in whatever phase or department - whether foods or metals or things that are a part of the needs of such.
18. (Q) What changes may be expected as far as Hitler is concerned? (A) Is this information for Mr. [257] or for Mr. Hitler?
19. (Q) Should I continue to make radio at Arthurdale during the next 12 months, or is there risk of radio being curtailed? (A) This will not be allowed, as we find, except those that are made for the armed services themselves. If there is the ability to make such connections as to make special class equipment for the communications, do that. This would be very well.
20. (Q) Should we buy up materials? (A) Very soon this will not be allowed, so don't attempt to overcrowd or to get large quantities; for this would become questionable - if there is the desire to apply for those activities in connection with the armed forces.
21. (Q) Is the plan of [257] to associate with Mr. James Wigmore of the Canadian American Munitions Co., 9 Rockefeller Plaza, NYC., a good one? (A) This has its drawbacks. All is not correct here. Such a connection would be well. Would it be well with the plans
257-239 Page 4
of this body?
22. (Q) Is there a better plan for [257]'s best interests than this? (A) As has been indicated, as we find.
23. (Q) What about defense housing as is suggested by the Department of Agriculture? (A) These activities will be carried forward. These are not necessarily the better outlets for [257]'s activities, but rather the purchasing end, as we find - whether in foods, metals, munitions, or contracts that may be made with the small producers through the nation - these are the better connections for the body, IF SUCH IS CHOSEN! But this must be a voluntary choice on the part of [257].
24. (Q) What is present status of the Craft shop at Arthurdale as far as [257] is concerned, with his association at Washington and at the plant? (A) It is very well in the present. These activities, too, from some of the priorities or those things that will be hindered, will NOT make the best connections.
25. (Q) Should [257] now consider buying the plant or continuing the option? (A) Option at present, but this depends upon the choices in other directions.
26. (Q) Considering the present conditions what is the future for [257] at this plant? (A) This depends on too many other outside influences and choices that are made, and as to just how much there will still be allowed. Though as we find, if there are the connections and this still held as a place for operations under the lease that is in effect, this may be later turned to a great possibility for the developing of a plant when there is the restoration to the more peaceful activities.
27. (Q) What will be the approximate financial returns this year? (A) This again depends on too many outside influences. Not as full as has been anticipated, but may be made - in some respects possibly better than expected.
28. (Q) What should be my next approach to Mrs. Roosevelt? (A) This depends upon the choices and as to whether the approach should be made through the one in charge of "all out," and as to whether these may or may not be put all together.
29. (Q) Has the time arrived to meet the President? (A) Not as yet - unless it is necessary for the consideration of activities through the channels indicated.
30. (Q) What future is there for me with the Farm Security Administration? (A) This is not a connection as yet - might be built up. But these are all part of a general plan, as we find; and
257-239 Page 5
these will need not to be dispersed over so many, for the next year or year and a half or two years.
31. (Q) When should the factory additions be built to meet the new needs? (A) This would come after - not in the immediate.
32. (Q) Which branch of industry will last after the war, if started now? (A) Communications, or radio, and - of course - furniture also. For there will still be a great outgoing, and when there is the ability to purchase, a year to two years of a great flow of things for conveniences that will have been gradually cut off during the next eighteen months to two years.
33. (Q) Will the banking group be better, or better [257] and Weisburgh continue alone as Brunswick and operate on the smaller scale as at present? (A) In the smaller at present, and these may be kept then through the connections with the government and with the Arthurdale project especially, for special work that would be allowed through these that would not be allowed in other respects.
34. (Q) Should Mrs. [189] continue at Arthurdale? (A) For the present, to be sure, and possibly later on also. This depends on other projects as may arise.
35. (Q) What are the positions and effects of [257]'s planets on his life for 1942? (A) These are to be made by self and the choices now in seeing the "all out" effort that is needed to be given by every individual.
36. (Q) Are there any major political changes to happen that may affect [257] - (A) (Interrupting) Not as we find.
37. (Q) Should [257] keep his few common stocks now or will inflation come? (A) Keep common stocks. We don't find inflation coming, unless there are a great many RADICAL changes brought about. This may come more AFTERWARD than during the period of the war itself.
38. (Q) Florsheim Shoe - U.S. Playing Card - GE - RCA - Grumman - United Aero Prod - which keep - which sell - and how replace? (A) These we would have as are - we would not change, unless - some of these are very speculative. We would not give information concerning these - only as to the general.
