Time of Reading 4:15 to 4:45 P. M. Eastern War Time. N.Y.C.
1. GC: You will have before you the entity [257], present in this room. You will review his objectives and his activities with the war effort, as well as his government associations in the building of munitions, furniture, lenses, radio, and crystals; advising him the proper procedure to serve the various departments to the full measure of his ability and to the satisfaction of the army. You will have his associates and associations, his physical welfare, his family's welfare before you for review and advice. You will answer the questions pertaining to all of these, and to Mrs. Roosevelt, Arthurdale, and preparations to help win the war, giving guidance and warnings.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body-mind, the entity [257].
3. In reviewing the activities of the entity under the present circumstance, there should be the occasional reference by the entity to its activities in the experience before in the earth, and as to how and why there will be those associations and activities in the present in which individuals will question the policies and the theories of the entity.
4. Thus, as has been indicated for this entity from time to time, the necessity of the entity having an ideal that may not be questioned by any. Also there is the necessity of the entity's activities being of such a nature in its associations with every contact, wherein there will not be in self a question mark; that there may be the fewer question marks by others.
5. Ready for questions.
6. (Q) Who are the people of whom I should be the most careful? [See 257-10.] (A) It is impossible to pick these out. They will be known because of what has just been given. As you meet them from time to time you should be able to recognize them, if you were in the right mind! For, they were of course opponents in those activities, and are - of course - VERY
257-246 Page 2
American-minded. For, the entity was not an American, but became American-minded afterward. And these, of course, are things in which question marks so easily arise, because of conditions and circumstances that may arise in the various fields of service. [See Life Rdg. 257-10. Aide to Gen. Howe, Amer. Rev.]
7. (Q) When should I leave for Las Vegas, New Mexico, to rest up and prepare for the strenuous duties ahead of me? How long will I be able to stay? (A) When there has been the satisfying of self as to sufficient of the orders, or the quantity, or the things set to work - then rest for at least two to three weeks.
8. (Q) Should Edgar Cayce go with me for a rest and change? (A) We haven't Edgar Cayce in the army, as yet!
9. (Q) Should I develop the factory for lenses in Celina, O., with Webber, or pay full attention to the Arco Metal Products lens plant at 144th St. & Brook Ave., NYC? (A) It would be better to develop the Celina factory, for the general output; not only because of the proximity of the activities but because of the very NATURE of the conditions - when this is gone farther into. This would be the more satisfactory place for this entity's association with same - Celina.
10. (Q) In what manner can I legally profit by this undertaking, to repay me for my services? (A) In the associations and those who are the makers of this product.
11. (Q) Should this be a stock interest or partnership, or what is best manner to handle it? (A) Whichever is the choice of the individuals who are active in the actual manufacture. This may be done in EITHER of these ways, in a legal manner. But do not make self liable for anything other than the orders themselves. Hence the stock would be the more practical.
12. (Q) Where best to find lens grinders and technicians who understand the making of lenses? (A) Wherever there is the manufacturing of the glass and the schools of opticians.
13. (Q) As to Majestic Radio Co. of Chicago, for whom I got the order for crystals, how can I further aid this plant and its management? (A) This is all set, if it is carried out in the way in which it has already been indicated.
14. (Q) Herbert Weisburgh handles the sales in this plant on radio and crystals. Is this sufficient, or does he need my help? (A) As just indicated, this is already set - if it is
257-246 Page 3
carried out as has been indicated.
15. (Q) As to Farber plant, with Gene Herz and Milton Farber working on 50 calibre links, is the plant working out alright? Can I further aid it? (A) This is working out alright, as far as [257] goes, save in seeing that they carry on. This is all in shape to be carried out.
16. (Q) How can I further assist Col. E. C. Franklin in 2-G-485 Arlington, Va., The Pentagon Bldg., in his plan on concentrating steel in Rochester to assure enough material to make links and other ordinances? (A) This has already been set in motion. And these will require that there be the ability to have some variations, to be sure.
17. (Q) He asked me for aid to higher authorities. To whom should I go on Wednesday, to repay Franklin for his many kindnesses, and to aid the war effort? (A) Those who are in authority in such - it all eventually comes back to the production management.
18. (Q) Should I go to Donald Nelson or to Harry Hopkins, or to whom can I go to get this aid? (A) It has just been indicated to go to the production agent, hasn't it?
19. (Q) How can I better serve Col. N. R. Taylor who is the director of Fire Control of the ammunition division, who has aided me so much? (A) The time isn't quite ripe for this. This will come a little bit later.
20. (Q) Should I assemble the whole Binocular, or just match the lenses and ship to other sources for assembly? (A) This may be done either way. It depends upon just how far it is to be handled in this present undertaking. May be done either way; depending upon that which would make for the least red tape to same.
21. (Q) How many months will it be necessary to operate the lens development to fulfill the needs of war effort? (A) Fourteen months.
22. (Q) What will I be able to develop, from my experience in lenses and crystals, that might aid my Brunswick Radio picture after the war? (A) Let's get through the war first! This may come in the activity and development in television, but not so much in the radio; though it would be a part, or could be eventually. But these will be because of changes in the sending in various stations.
23. (Q) When will Brunswick be able to go back to manufacturing regular merchandise exclusive of war products?
257-246 Page 4
(A) In eighteen months to two years.
24. (Q) What plan can I work out in September to keep Arthurdale busy and out of debt and carry out Mrs. Roosevelt's desire to make it successful after the war? (A) Make those gun stocks here!
25. (Q) When should I see Mrs. Roosevelt personally, to bring the report of my present activities to date? (A) Whenever that is necessary or in keeping with the policies of those arrangements or understandings that have been literally and verbally established.
26. (Q) What is Mrs. Roosevelt's attitude to me now? (A) You better ask Mrs. Roosevelt; - not here!
27. (Q) How should I attempt to aid Senator Mead in his race for Governor of N.Y. since the President backs him? (A) In the local activities. These as we find in the own county, rather than any open campaign, by this entity.
28. (Q) When should I see the President with Senator Mead to discuss my efforts and Arthurdale development? Please advise as to my conduct and statements at meeting. (A) This will depend more upon Mead than upon the efforts of the body itself. These will be arranged, if that is the desirable thing by Mead, and if not it should not be desired by this entity.
29. (Q) I am working with Harold Tipton, Pres. of the Southern Furniture Co., and Eastern Wood Products Co. of Hackensack, N.J., and his plants of Canton, Miss. Will the plan we discussed for building radio cabinets in the south work out so I will have a place to build Brunswick and G.E. cabinets when the war is over? (A) This is pretty far apart. Will Tipton be in the same position after the war? Unless he changes some of his tactics, you would not want to be associated with him!
30. (Q) What is next move and best way to proceed? to get furniture business from Tipton Factories from the Treasury Dept. at Washington under Mr. Wm. Robey the quickest way, so I can take my vacation? (A) That would still be through the supplying of those through the ordinance departments for the various camps and the various things as pertain to those activities being expanded in various portions of the country. These are a long ways from being complete. These may be worked out quicker here for effective activity for the moment. But don't stay with this man too long!
31. (Q) Is it advisable to begin with him at all, under those conditions? (A) Depends on what you want! If you want money, commence! If you don't, let it alone! Always stay in the position,
257-246 Page 5
though, as indicated, of not letting a question mark be put after what you do.
32. (Q) I am anxious to follow the advice on real estate investment. What is the best manner and place to handle this in a safe, sure way? (A) This has been indicated already. Choices would be made in those areas close to Washington, or in the West Virginia area; depending upon what is to be the determining factor, or what is to be the determining factor when the changes come and the new activities are begun. Close to Washington, or in the vicinity of Maryland or Washington, or Virginia, or West Virginia.
33. (Q) Considering a place to raise food products and a safe place to live, would it be Maryland or Virginia? (A) Which had you rather be called - a Virginian or a Marylander? Either of these would be very well. But make them in the closer relationships to Washington.
34. (Q) Did I handle visit of Mr. Collier of the secret service to his office last Saturday in a satisfactory manner? (A) This is very satisfactory, but you'll hear from it again - and hence those injunctions as indicated.
35. (Q) Is there any special advice as to how I should handle the next meeting? (A) It isn't so much handling that meeting as it is the relationships and what you say and promise!
36. (Q) I am trying to help my best customer, Julius Kassover, to get a Commission in Signal Corp and move from Camp Meade. (A) (Interrupting) This is already set in order and will work.
37. (Q) How can I now improve my service to the government and its war efforts which are so urgent? (A) In meeting those conditions as arise from time to time. These are the ways and manners, as has been indicated. Let it all be in such a way and manner that there is no condemning of self, according to self's own ideals. And let those ideals be in keeping with the law. Remember, ye will pay and pay and PAY!
38. (Q) Have conditions changed as to my residence in Scarsdale, N.Y., or is there reason for concern over attacks from the enemy during 1942-43? (A) Not in this particular area.
39. (Q) Going back to my relations with the various factories, with whom I am connecting up with the government, is there any reason to feel at the present time that my connections might be criticized?
257-246 Page 6
(A) These can best be answered within self. For, THERE the answer must come; not as to what will be. Ye know the law. Keep it!
