Time of Reading 3:35 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. N.Y.C. (Body and enquiring mind, who seeks advice and counsel as to his health, his mental and material affairs. Ques.)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [261], present in this room.
2. There are changes coming into the experience of this body, mentally, materially, physically. The more of these appear to be changes as of falling away of some of those things that have disturbed the mental influences about the body.
3. Ready for questions.
4. (Q) I frequently wake up early in the morning feeling considerable distress and sometimes perspiring profusely. Can you explain, and have you any suggestion? [See 261-27 & previous rdgs. on stomach ulcers.] (A) This is from the low resistance in the physical forces of the body, due to the change in the circulatory forces of the body, during those periods of the early morning after a quieting of the general nervous system. This is as a condition in the circulatory forces, as a weakness in the coagulative forces where used energies of the body are not properly distributed through the circulation to the portions of the body where the eliminations should be cared for by the various centers or systems in the physical body of elimination. As we find, in the present, these changes we would suggest for the circulation and for the building of resistances in the body: Once, twice or three times a week take, in the evening after the evening meal, a teaspoonful of Milk of Bismuth and ten minims of Elixir of Lactated Pepsin stirred in a glass of water. To be sure, these produce an absorption that will require the influence of activities through the alimentary canal; for they will produce those tendencies for the eliminations
261-28 Page 2
to become somewhat slower. Hence the physical activities of the body should be such as to correct these; with also the occasional use of enemas. For a week at a time take each day a teaspoonful - not a heaping but a little more than a level teaspoonful of the Ventriculin with Iron; then rest from same a week, then take again. Continue taking in this manner until a large size bottle of same is taken. This will in the assimilations, with this influence of the characterization of the activities in the digestive forces, make for more strength, more vitality, more of the enzymes in the blood supply that will reduce this tendency for the lowering of the circulation, the tendency for the respiration and the perspiration to arise from this weakening in the physical forces of the body. Do that.
5. (Q) The lameness or soreness in the head which began last July [See 261-22] has continued all winter, though gradually decreasing. Can I do anything to complete its elimination? (A) This addition to the strengthening of the circulation and the cleansing of the poisons from the system, and the natural increase in the appetite that will come from better assimilation, should overcome these conditions; though we would find it the more helpful to continue with the general manipulations occasionally.
6. (Q) The head or sinus is stuffed up much of the time, particularly if I get in any draft of air. Any suggestion? [See 261-23, Par. 3-A.] (A) The deeper manipulation, the changes in the circulation, should aid and assist in this elimination. A general spray of Lavoris or the like in the sinus, or an alkalin antiseptic, should make for an aid in elimination of this slowed circulation through the sinus, the antrum, the soft tissue of the head, the nose, the face. Spray the throat and the nostrils morning and evening with these properties; this will be preferable.
7. (Q) The lameness in the lower back continues sometimes better, sometimes worse, but always present. Any suggestions? (A) The heat with the equal combination of Mutton Tallow, Turpentine, Spirits of Camphor and Compound Tincture of Benzoin, with heat on same - as from a hot pad or electric pad, will assist in relieving this until the changes as created by the activities of the properties suggested may bring about an eliminating of the weakness that is caused by
261-28 Page 3
the taxation of the body physically. Put this mixture upon heavy flannel, and let the body rest of evenings or whenever the pain is so severe place this pack over the areas and then an electric pad over same - this will remove the disturbance.
8. (Q) Because of condition in recent months I have been afraid to commute regularly and have taken a room in N.Y. near my office. Will this be necessary much longer? (A) Should not be, as soon as there has been sufficient activity from these properties suggested at this time, and with the general conditions it should be really better for the body to change from the humdrum and the regular disturbances in the city.
9. (Q) Is there any stoppage of any kind in the intestinal tract? (A) Only the slowing through a portion of the system as we find.
10. (Q) Is alcohol in any form particularly bad for me? (A) Wines and brandies are rather good. Beers or strong drinks are NOT so good; these act upon the secretions of the pancreas, the liver, the spleen, in such a way as to make rather a heaviness. Wine, red wine, as a food rather than as a drink, is rather preferable for the body.
11. (Q) The hay fever season for me is about to start. Any further suggestion than previously given? [See 261-8, Par. 26-A.] (A) Use the spray that has been indicated, and the inhalant. Then with this general strengthening, keeping the manipulations occasionally, we should keep it down this time. Just determine in self you're not going to have it this time! Then we are adding to the system those things that create the resistances and produce the enzymes, that are an active portion in the lymph circulation. Hence keeping the eliminations good throughout, and with those properties as indicated for the carrying out of the toxic forces and the building up, we can put on some weight and some strength and some vitality.
12. (Q) What diet for the body? (A) Not too much of a milk diet, not too much of a meat diet; but rather a well-balanced diet. As these changes come about, let rather the appetite direct as to what is eaten by the body. Don't be afraid of it, but control it - control the appetite by just those desires. Especially as we change these activities through the assimilating forces of the body, we will find there will be periods when there will be the desire for fruits, certain meats, certain characters of vegetables and the like. Do not become too
261-28 Page 4
set as to diet; for we want improvements here - always.
13. (Q) Have still been unable to sell house at ... [L.I.]. In the event of its sale would New Canaan, Conn., be a desirable community for us to move to? (A) As we find there is a possibility of the sale of the place soon, and - as has been indicated - evidently there is to be a change in the surroundings and material living. As we find, in this portion of Connecticut would be rather well. The environs there, the changes there, the abilities for the activities in many ways, as we find would be very good. We would consider same.
14. (Q) In my investment counsel activity we have recently made an important addition to our research staff and are contemplating enlarging and rearranging our office. To meet the increased expenses we should increase our income. Have you any suggestion as to steps we should take to secure new clients and increase our business? (A) As we find, these do not become as entanglements, but there is seen - and will be experienced - more and more of foreign capital being invested in this country. With the research and with the opening of the activities in same, there are certain types of this that we find would be well to add to the clients. Yet this should be considered in the correct way and manner; that is, not those influences or surroundings that would make for any questions, either to self or to associates; but these as we find offer a field where a great deal and a great volume of change may be had. Then, in keeping in the line with those things that have been suggested; that each client has his or her own surroundings or groups. Let it be as a part of this research that these be influenced to aid; not in other than as a helpful force to them as well as to their associates or friends, and this broadens the field of activity.
15. (Q) Should the foreign accounts be of individuals or companies? (A) Preferably the individuals. Companies usually demand or ask that which may become complications. There are individuals, or individual groups - but not companies or organizations so much.
16. (Q) In the investment of funds of clients we have concentrated principally in stocks of good corporations rather than in bonds. Does this continue to be the best policy? (A) This continues, as we find, to be the best policy. As has been indicated, all of those (that is, in the stocks,
261-28 Page 5
corporations) that show in their earnings that these are alive, or acting in the faith with those that they serve, have the right policies, have the right programs; and these then are better under existent conditions than bonds - that may become involved by entanglements that are still in the distance yet and at times appear to be beyond the horizon, and again they become almost as flares in the night.
17. (Q) What are the prospects marketwise for both stocks and bonds during the next few months? (A) As has just been indicated, the stocks rather than the bonds - though, of course, there will be in some connections little exceptions, but in the general the preference remains with the stocks.
18. (Q) What particular industries appear to be in the most favorable position? (A) Those as apply to improvements for the general welfare and conveniences for the general householder, the general farm conditions, the general activities in general improvements. Of course, lumbers, all electrical, all activities in transportations, all of communications and all such - these as we find, with the building materials, will keep the lead, except those that possibly may be found in a portion as refers to the farm implements.
19. (Q) Are there any particularly unfavorable factors in this country that may affect the security markets? (A) Not, as has been intimated, in the immediate. There continues to be, as it were, upon the horizon entanglements, but the more there is kept the stabilization, more of the activities that will make for the keeping - not as a withdrawal but as the associated activities in this own country, less and less are stocks or commodities to be involved by general disturbances that would become of international nature.
20. (Q) Is there anything important in the international situation that will probably affect the markets either beneficially or adversely? (A) As we find, and as has been indicated, not for some months - or possibly for a year or more yet, unless there arises some conditions not indicated in the present. Rather is there being the strengthening by trade relations that are being worked out. These are rather helpful than detrimental in the present. Those things that may make for disturbances will be, as we find in the present, more from disturbance within than without - in the immediate; though this, too, is in the general sense being handled very well.
261-28 Page 6
21. (Q) Is there any way that I personally can contribute more to our investment counsel business? (A) This as we find is being worked - that is, in self - almost to capacity. But never look upon self as being "through," or doing all that you can do; yet to control self's abilities and at the same time be in attune, or as it were listening to all of the conditions and surroundings, makes for the better safety valve for the whole operations. It might be applied as in the old song, "Just keep on listening - listening - " and as the desire is for that policy which has prompted and brought into being the very associations and activities, we will find that the self, personality of self, the whole individuality of self becomes more capable, physically, mentally, and in every way, to contribute to the activities of the association or organization.
22. (Q) Any further advice? (A) As we find, again, as has first been indicated, there is just before the body, physically, mentally, spiritually, a real awakening, a real opportunity. Keep, then, optimistic; but know from Whom, of Whom, all force, all power, all might comes; for it is not of self but as a gift entrusted from on High to him who is willing, capable, able, to make known that love which keeps the world alive.
