Time of Reading 5:20 to 6:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [261], present in this room, who seeks advice and guidance as to his physical condition, as to the general business situation, and as to personal business problems. You will answer the questions he submits, as I ask them.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [261], present in this room; this we have had before.

3. In the general physical forces of the body, we find these - while in the present not wholly satisfactory - so much better than some we have had here before.

4. As we find, those precautions that have been indicated from time to time need to be kept; respecting overfatigue, keeping the balance in the digestive forces for the better conditions through the assimilating system.

5. The activities of Ventriculin with the Iron, as we find, would be helpful, beneficial, for the coagulation.

6. When there are those disturbances of the acidity that arises from inflammation, from fatigue or from the activities that come by cold or congestion we find that these would respond to those activities from the Alcaroid. Not too great a quantity, nor taken in the form where the whole system depends upon same; but about a quarter teaspoonful first dissolved in a little water and then a full glass, or the glass filled, and at least another half a glass after same; twenty to thirty minutes after the meal. This taken for a day, after each meal, then left off until there would be the feeling of the pressure or of an acid reaction that arises from acidity or from the poor assimilation. This forms with the digestive forces in creating the proper balance.

7. Keep the other activities as to massage or adjustments as needed.

8. These should keep the body near to the improvements, keeping away colds that so oft during the seasons come as detrimental forces taking hold in the acid forces of the

261-29 Page 2

body.

9. Ready for questions regarding other conditions.

10. (Q) Since March of this year, but particularly since August, security prices, especially of stocks, have declined substantially. What factors in the general business situation should have given us a warning of this decline so that we could have taken appropriate action in clients' accounts? (A) Only that which is of the nature as the trend of the situations from legislative activities has produced these factors. That these should come when there have been those reports from such associations or corporations where the income has been sufficient for the regular dividends and the like - these have been in adverse then to these conditions. Owing to the uncertainty of legislation that would affect. Now that there are the activities apparent that will further cause insecure directions, these then should be taken as the precautionary measures. If there are those legislations that give rather the assurance to the investors, to corporations, without activities that would hinder the increasing of either capital reserve or for the demand of less taxation to income, then we will find these ARE the measures, the conditions by which such are to be judged. As we find, in this connection, however, there will be - during this particular period of legislation and activity - that which will assure, rather than increase, the activities in this direction; that is, increase security, see, rather than, unsecurity.

11. (Q) Will the decline probably continue much further and how will we know when it is about to end? (A) As has just been indicated, by the greater assurance to the activities in the directions indicated. This is the assurance.

12. (Q) Having held stocks in accounts during the decline so far, should they continue to be held or should they now be sold? (A) Under the existing conditions and as these have been called that is, for legislation, as we find the advice would be rather to hold. While there may be some periods when there will be fluctuations, but the assurance will be from the legislators, rather than the attempts of those that would take the advantage of the activity and attempt to produce fluctuations.

13. (Q) What are the most promising types of securities to purchase at this time?

261-29 Page 3

(A) These as we find are still in those things that will have to do with construction. As there must be a great deal of building, building materials, those of that nature, these are the greater advance. There must be replacements in many sections and quarters, which will make for the investments in such of the greater security as well as of greater advantage to be had from the activities.

14. (Q) Should bonds be purchased now, and if so, what type? (A) This is another condition that, if there are the attempts to deal much with the Federal security acts, as the activities of the Federal banks or associations, or much in their directions - be careful. If there are the greater assurances given, then any types that are in the nature as indicated that show the increases that are indicated necessary for surety that such bonds are an investment. This, of course, makes then a question: How is one to be assured, under the situations, under the conditions that are to be affected so by legislation in these directions? Again as we find, there are sufficient of those in sympathy with the actual conditions rather than those that are crying aloud, yet are attempting to hedge themselves only for political or for graft reasons. Hence there is to be the feeling of a greater security in ALL of investments than there has been in the last six to twelve months at least. This should be accomplished before, of course, the coming recess session, and greater accomplished in the regular session - which begins in January.

15. (Q) Because our fees depend on the market value of clients' portfolios, our income will decline substantially and it will be necessary to secure a substantial amount of new business. Can you suggest how best this can be done and the type of accounts to try for? (A) As has heretofore been indicated, there is a greater and greater influx of capital from other lands. While this is not the type that makes for the greatest satisfaction, this is the type that may be depended upon, under the present existent circumstances, to prevent there being such a decline in the income as to cause insecurity or the feeling or lack of assurance of sufficient amount of business. And, with the general help that may be expected

261-29 Page 4

from the legislations in those directions as we have indicated, as to be helpful - unless there is some unforeseen reactions - this should enable not only present investors to expand but give greater assurance to them.

16. (Q) How would I go about getting accounts from Europe? (A) There are continually individuals from time to time who have had, or have through connections with international associations, occasion to come to America for oft presumably - just visits. Through those channels where there are utilities or activities where there are agents in other lands, there may be obtained lists or records of such that may be approached through such representatives - even before they approach or are as visitors or investors. Through such channels we may find those means and ways. As the many utilities that have representatives in Europe or America - Don't forget the trades that are between the Americas! This must be more and more a cemented union; as well as especially the English, some Dutch, a little of the French, and more and more those of other lands that are in sympathy - as Norway, Finland, Sweden and the like.

17. (Q) Any further suggestion as to my investment counsel activities? (A) These as we find, while owing to the general slumps, the general uncertainty from some of the activities, are very good; have been very good. But owing to these they have fallen away to some extent. Yet if they are kept in the manners and the ways we will find, as general confidence is restored, through the attempts of the activities in legislation and in the present ministration, to attempt to make up for the influences where not only the larger investors but general capital, these will make for policies of a greater scope of activity.

18. (Q) For some time I have been interested in the A. V. Oil and Gas Co., whose promoter and President is Mr. A. Violette, and whose properties are located at Dundie, in Monroe Co., Mich. Several wells have been drilled and at present there are three producing wells, two located in Section 19 of Range 6 on the Dundee Township map and the third located in Section

19. (Q) At what depth is the gas? (A) Some two, three hundred, three hundred and sixty-eight (368) feet below where the present operations have been for production of the upper stratum of the oil.

20. (Q) That's three hundred feet above the production of the oil? (A) Three hundred feet BELOW the production of the oil. While gas has been found, the greater quantities of gas AND

261-29 Page 5

oil will be found in the NEXT stratum, or the next producing sands.

21. (Q) That's below the so-called Trenton sand? (A) Below the so-called Trenton sand.

22. (Q) When the last well, Roe #3 in Section 30 was drilled, the drill went into what at first was thought to be a large oil pool, but later proved to be a crevice through which both oil and gas escaped. Can you explain? (A) As has just been given, this is close to the fault. The fold in which the larger quantity is to be reached is BELOW this fault - below this crevice or fault that has allowed same to escape to that above, see?

23. (Q) It is now proposed to drill a new well about 600 ft. south of the last well in Section 30. Is this the most favorable location, and if not where should it be drilled? (A) Just so there is kept below this fault, that extends through the area above this, you see; in some places it's much greater of course than six hundred feet, some places it's as much as over five thousand four hundred feet more than a mile; in other places this comes much nearer - but just so it's below that fault which extends northeast, southwest across this area. This six hundred feet on the Section 30 as we find would be most satisfactory, but we would give not only would there be those preparations to be made to take care of the oil but of the gas as may be found in the stratum from which this fold - or those in the old will show the oil and gas, but that it may be carried on to the GREATER depths; and thus obtain the greater pressure in gas as well as in quantities of the oil.

24. (Q) How deep should it be drilled? (A) As has been indicated, some three hundred feet at least below where the production is obtained.

25. (Q) How many wells should be drilled altogether? (A) Sufficient to take care of the area, which will extend - as we find - farther on to the southwest for at least two and a half miles.

26. (Q) Any further suggestion in connection with this property? (A) As has been indicated, in all of the holdings or all of the fields as given here, do not go too far to the direct NORTH of same - or we will have the encountering of the fault and be out of the pool entirely.

27. (Q) In connection with my physical condition, I have lately been taking a tonic called Accessorone. Does this contain elements beneficial to me and should I continue taking it? (A) This as we find contains elements beneficial, and we would continue taking same.

261-29 Page 6

28. (Q) When I took Ventriculin with Iron it seemed to disagree with me. How much should I take at this time? (A) Do not take same too often, nor too great a quantity; but at least a level teaspoonful taken about three times a week will be found to be most beneficial - if it is taken in that way or that far apart. For these properties add those elements that supply the prevention for the strains upon the intestinal system and the duodenum that have been so disturbing to the body, as has been described heretofore. To be sure, too great quantities - or taken so often that the body does not assimilate same - becomes detrimental; or appears to produce or does produce gastric reactions that cause - well, heartburn or the like. But taken in the quantity indicated we will find it most helpful, and we will find it working well also with the tonic that is a toning for same. Take the tonic, though, as has been taken heretofore.

29. (Q) Should the Ventriculin be taken before or after the meal, and which one? (A) Taken BEFORE the evening meal, about twenty to thirty minutes before. For rest afterwards, and its combining with the foods of the heavier meal, is preferable.

30. We have felt that we were on the edge of a much larger body of oil than indicated by the production of the present wells. Have you any comment? (A) These properties, and the areas, are as it were again a cycle of information. As has been given through these channels respecting same, the first of such being given in 1924 as to the possibilities of locating oil and gas in commercial quantities in these vicinities. [GD's note: EC later told me he thought Mr. [257] had obtained oil rdgs. yrs. ago on Michigan lands, but he didn't think we had copies of them.] In this as we find again, as was first given, this is to be the larger of the northern portion of the lands' production in particularly gas, with sufficient of the oils for the carrying on of the operations themselves. As these properties, and those activities, are located close to where there is - as has been heretofore described - a fault, we find the larger GAS - and of course some greater production oil - is in the second strata from which the production may be expected, and which larger quantities or flow of gas may be had.

261-29 Page 7

This of course entails, then - for the commercial activities in these directions, to induce, persuade, or show by the very production itself, the abilities of the activities to furnish gas for the activities and great activities that are within range of the field for the commercial fields in the manufacturing centers. The GAS will prove as we find the greater source of income, or investments; while the oils will produce sufficient to take care OF the operations, though they extend to much greater depths than has been in the present found to be commercially valuable. These are great possibilities here, as has been given; for if there is sufficient of the oil for the paying of the production, and for the finding and distribution of same - WHICH WILL BE - then the gas and the abilities for its distribution will eventually become, as it were, ALL velvet for the operators. Worthy then of consideration and carrying on.

30. (Q) In cold or windy weather when I am outdoors my eyes fill with water and run continuously. Can you suggest a relief? (A) This comes rather from the thinned blood condition, and until there is the increase in the hormones in the blood stream, that makes for resistances, this will continue. If there are the precautions, however, as to protections about the throat and close to the head, this will be much better. But with the assimilations bettered, and the general strength and resistance built up, these are good. Keep up the ultra-violets for the system occasionally; these assist in building resistances through that assimilated by the tonic and strengthened by the enzymes in the Ventriculin.

31. (Q) While my lower back is improved it still troubles me. Have you any further suggestion for it? (A) The manipulations, the occasional care by the application of the heat with the equal combination of Camphor, Mutton Suet and Turpentine, these as we find should keep the system toned. Not that these should be kept every day, but when there is in the evenings the relaxation - on the days when these have disturbed the body - then apply same by gentle message over the area with the compound. Then apply an electric pad or the like, with flannel or something of course between same;

261-29 Page 8

but apply the rub with the compound direct upon the body, to be sure.

32. (Q) Any further comments on physical condition? (A) As combined with those that have been indicated, we should find the body keeping in a much nearer normal balance - unless other conditions arise of acute natures or the like.

33. (Q) Any other suggestions? (A) Keep rather optimistic than pessimistic in all of the associations. Know that so long as self keeps that attitude, it creates that confidence that is needed in ALL circles of social, political and financial associations - so needed in these stressing times!
