Time of Reading Hotel ..., 3:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [279], who is on the lobby floor in front of the desk at Hotel ..., New York City. You will give a check-up on the physical condition of the body, after which you will answer the questions which he will ask regarding his mental and material affairs.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [279] - this we have had before.

3. In the physical forces of the body, these - as we find - continue to show improvement, in the physical, in the mental body. There needs be that those suggestions as have been given for the proper corrective measures be adhered to. This not so much in a matter of rote; rather that as the little disturbances as arise from the body GAINING its physical and mental equilibrium is, or receives the applications that this may continue. Well to get the difference; for, as the body feels better and better, these may be farther and farther apart in their application, until a full physical reaction has taken place - see? Ready for questions.

4. (Q) Am I going about the organization of the Victoria ... staff properly and efficiently? (A) Little alterations would we make in the present. While there will be some necessary changes from the program in the present, the POLICIES as are being taken or made in the aligning up is correct. We would follow this policy, meeting the little differences as occur in the proper way and manner; that is an affable manner, not as to worriment, not as to bringing harangues or any uncomeliness.

5. (Q) What can I do to increase business at the Hotel ...? (A) There are many channels that are open for the improvement of the clientele. These will be worked out, as we find better, by the proper character of advertisement in their regular channels, and the obtaining of interests of various kinds of groups and individuals who will tend to make for the hotel a place for the various groups to meet;

in social, in political, in those fields of the higher type of interests and walks of life. These make for the kind of clientele that becomes the more satisfactory, and these channels are the ways and the means to obtain same; choosing individual groups or leaders of same, making with them those of the proper contacts as will enable the hotels to receive the benefit from those activities. In the matter of advertising, choosing those channels that make for the building, the place of its location, of the service given as the keynote - see?

6. (Q) Will the Forces give some definite suggestions regarding these? (A) Just build on and on to that as just been given.

7. (Q) Will Mr. Kurzrok, Senior, be successful in maintaining his interest in the operating company running the Hotel ...? (A) We haven't Mr. Kurzrok, but we have those interests as respecting same. As WE find, he will retain and maintain the interest. At least for some years yet.

8. (Q) How long will Harry Kurzrok be associated with me in running Hotel ...? (A) That, to be sure, depends upon MANY conditions. This in another manner has been presented, as we see, before. While the necessity exists, while the changes are apparent and imminent, very well; when the body has been able to establish its own ideas of the surroundings, when the body has gotten the policy in such a set manner, then whenever the body desires this may be dispensed of, or retained.

9. (Q) Any suggestions regarding my dealings with Harry Kurzrok? (A) As has been suggested, keep the associations and relations in an amiable manner as near as is possible, working together as far as within the body lies, so long as they do not interfere with the best policies of the body's idea of conducting and maintaining the business OF the management.

10. (Q) Any suggestions regarding my dealings with Mr. Max Kurzrok, Senior? (A) In this manner show that independence in the dealings, but an independence of dependency in the body's abilities.

11. (Q) Any suggestions as to where money could be saved in operating expenses, which I could accomplish? (A) These, as WE find, may be best found by the continued tabulation of the various outgoes that show within their particular part of the running expense the effect of losses and gains; for in each department there are those necessary seeming leaks; yet these checked carefully will be found

that in places here and there a curtailment may be made that will show gains. DO NOT curtail where SERVICE is concerned, but where red tape or the such then conserve.

12. (Q) Shall M. D. Carbury be retained for advertising and publicity promotion work? (A) This branch or part of same needs some close attention. Unless there are more DEFINITE results in the efforts and the amounts expended, then we would seek a change. Are these [If these are] BUILDING that as is attempted to be accomplished, keeping well in the policies of that as has been set before self as the policy, then due consideration before changes would be well.

13. (Q) Will the Forces name a good, competent, assistant manager for me to secure for the organization at Hotel ...? (A) There are within the organization and in its environs those that would be well to consider. WE would, preferably, that there be those as are CONSIDERED, or are worth considering as prospective ones, and THEIR abilities may be given as to meeting the situations in the present - see? remembering, the policies are to be considered first and foremost.

14. (Q) How can this one be contacted? (A) Through the regular channels of obtaining such aids. Then those presented in a way and manner that their qualifications and abilities may be given, as to their qualifications. Then one may be chosen.

15. (Q) Any other suggestions regarding my guidance in the operation of this hotel? (A) As conditions are gradually straightening themselves out, and a new extension or lease - as it were - in the affairs of same are straightening out, the body needs fear little of its being able to cope WITH the situations that arise, will that same character of purpose be manifested as HAS been set forth in the beginning of the undertaking.

16. (Q) Should I have Edgar Cayce come to New York on Sept. 19th, as planned, and will it accomplish any good? (A) That would be well, is evident. As to the good that may be ACCOMPLISHED, is dependent upon that which may be TERMED good; remembering, what is good or well for one is NOT well ALWAYS for another. That the body's desire is to get and gain some recognition in certain fields of endeavor is well. This, however, should not be sought to be impressed upon others; rather let it be, "This is my experience, this is other's experience - the opportunity is before you, you must do your OWN seeking." In attempting to influence or interest those in the profession it MAY bring censure, where there SHOULD be naught but well-speaking.

[If the most good would come, there would be] Would the most good, would be the gathering together of those in their various walks of life, their various interests in the phenomena or work itself, as groups, as individuals, as two's and three's of groups, as of many groups, interesting them, setting definite plans, definite goals, interesting those who have already RECEIVED benefits, and aiding these who are SEEKING - rather than SEEKING TO interest others. THESE ways and manners, WE would find, would bring the most helpful, the most hopeful, and the LASTING results in such an undertaking; remembering, there are DOZENS - hundreds - that may be interested for various reasons, yet the ideal and the purposes must be, must be, maintained, [if the best results would come] would the best results come from same. [See 254-59 in re EC's arrest in N.Y. on 11/7/31.]

17. (Q) Will I be able in the immediate future to relieve my financial strain? Any suggestions as to how this can be done? (A) There will be, as we find, rather the better opening for such relief in the months to come, than in the immediate; whether this would be as of speculative, or whether this would be as of a straight investment. These conditions may be approached when there is a little more SETTLED condition, than in the immediate day, or days.

18. (Q) In trying to help Edgar Cayce and the successful production and sale of Ipsab, is it best to have the formula registered? (A) When it has been determined as to how, and what manner, this that is now called Ipsab is to be manufactured and distributed, would be well that same be registered; not until then. [See [1800] series.]

19. (Q) I am interested in a chemical problem regarding the difference between raw silk and the gum contained in raw silk. Will the Forces tell the difference? (A) In this problem there has been many an individual seeking the solvent that would separate, or prevent the loss of so much of same in the converting of raw silk to the use. [If there will be added] Will there be added, as WE find, to that - of those that have been making the investigations and experiments along the line - that solvent in the form of the oxalic acid in same, this would be reduced to even a LESSER minimum than is thought or felt for with the present experiments; a five percent solution of oxalic acid.
