1. EC: Ready for questions.
2. (Q) Should I remain in present business? (A) As we find, there are many conditions to be considered when asking or seeking counsel respecting a change in the mental and the physical activities, as to the relations of self with individuals and others. As we have given from time to time respecting the abilities, and that which may be accomplished by the entity, all these should be taken into consideration and some thought given respecting same. For the present, as we find, we would not change. By the first of the coming year, or when there are changes in material conditions in the affairs of the body's associates, then it might be well to consider a change. Weigh all things well; the abilities of self, the surroundings, the life, the associations, and that the body would do with its mental self. That which may be accomplished by the surrounding of self, through meditative influences, with the Creative Forces that may guide, guard and direct, would have much to do with that which may be determined within self.
3. (Q) Is C. R. Porter a good associate in this business? (A) A good associate for Porter; and that does not primarily mean for [279]!
4. (Q) How should the responsibilities be divided between the two? (A) Each have their weaknesses and each have their good points; each have their contacts, and that which makes for the material successes in the business in hand.
279-19 Page 2
Then, these should be divided according to the ability of the individuals to meet the various situations. COOPERATIVELY, then, divide the responsibilities.
5. (Q) What is the best field for us to follow - package or bulk business? (A) As a field, BULK. While less in the proportion, greater in the quantity - and the proportion becomes equalized. We wouldn't give up package business, however.
6. (Q) Will Porter succeed in making contracts with Associated Merchandising Corp.? If so, when? (A) This is capable of being accomplished. As to how, or when it will be, we do not see. Capable of being accomplished!
7. (Q) With Cavendish Trading Corp.? (A) Yes, and within the near future.
8. (Q) Will the fall bring us the contract for wax for R. H. Macy & Co.? (A) It should, if it's held out that long; and carrying out the other propositions and contracts that have been given.
9. (Q) Any suggestions as to how we can develop these accounts? (A) With Cavendish & Company, this is already - as given - practically set. With the other securities corporations that have been promised, some others - through some other channels; but these may be worked out - although requiring persistence and the right contacts, with directions; but keep on working.
10. (Q) Any new field recommended? (A) We would carry on in all of those that have been offering their propositions. The hotels offer still, of course, the better propositions for the bulk business.
11. (Q) Will Raymond Kahn be a good addition to our company? [DEK's brother] (A) If he can be persuaded to be in a smaller town, or farther away, rather than in the larger, he would be an excellent addition!
12. (Q) What should his duties be? (A) That's indicated by where they would be performed!
13. (Q) What section would you suggest he be sent? (A) This has been already given!
14. (Q) Should I try to make some additional capital by investments in the market? (A) We would not advise it, under the present conditions. These may be made, but there's too great an opportunity for losses.
279-19 Page 3
Of course, any of those propositions in the line that pertain to malts or brewery interests, purchased low, will make money.
15. (Q) Should I consider going back to the stock and bond business? (A) No.
16. (Q) Should I spend any time in trying to have the songs of Major Horwitz published? (A) It's worth considering!
17. (Q) What channels should I use? (A) The connections with the orchestra leaders.
18. (Q) Any other suggestions for me? (A) Consider well what has been given as to how self may be developed, through the very things that - at the most - make for the greatest fear in the physical body. Weigh this all well. While there are necessarily conditions to be considered, and prices that must be paid when considered from purely a material standpoint or life, yet contentment, peace, harmony, CAN come through these - as from no other source.
