Time of Reading 2:40 to 3:10 P. M.

1. GC: You will have before you the Glad Helpers, members of which are present here, and their general work in studying laws of spiritual (mental) healing as explained through this channel. Ques.

2. EC: Yes, we have the work of the Glad Helpers; as a group, as individuals.

3. In the study and the application of such, more and more must there be the united effort in each to bring the consciousness of that oneness of the peace that He gave; who is the author and the finisher of the faith, through which healing may come - by the very application in the individual lives of that peace as He gave. "Not as the world gives peace, but my peace," that is the consciousness of being at-one in purpose, in intent, in desire of the Father; who is the life and who is Him in whom we live and move and have our being.

4. Then as each of the group in their desire and their application of same in their daily walks before men make such a united effort, they may bring to others more and more of that consciousness that He lives, that He walks and talks with those that would seek to have His presence abiding with them day by day.

5. Make His presence a conscious thing in thy conversation in thy dealings with thy fellow man. For where the heart is, there the activity is to bring into the influence of those whom you meet that consciousness of that which is near and dear to thee.

6. Then as ye make the life, the love, the awareness of the Christ-Consciousness in the Father in thy daily life, more and more are ye able to give that which will bring into the experiences of others that same awareness.

7. For thoughts are things, and the Mind is the Builder. But if ye fill thy mind with the cares of the world day by day, ye may not in the moment give the best that is in the life of those that live the Christ-life - even as Jesus gave

the new commandment, "that ye love one another."

8. Ready for questions.

9. (Q) Please give affirmations to be sent to those on our prayer lists. (A) First: FATHER, IN THY MERCY, IN THY GRACE, BRING TO ME AND MY CONSCIOUSNESS THE AWARENESS OF THE PEACE OF THE CHRIST; THAT I MAY SAY THE MORE AND MORE, "FATHER, THY WILL BE DONE IN AND THROUGH ME DAY BY DAY." The 2nd: FATHER OF MERCY AND GRACE! LET LOVE BE THE DIRECTING PURPOSE IN MY LIFE EXPERIENCE. LET ME PUT AWAY ALL THOUGHTS OF HATRED, OF LUST, OF ONLY MATERIAL DESIRE; AND MORE AND MORE LOOK TO THEE FOR THE HOPE THAT IS SET IN THE PROMISES THROUGH THE CHRIST-LIFE. The 3rd: FATHER, MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH! THOU KNOWEST THE PURPOSES AND THE NEEDS, AND THE DESIRES OF ALL. BE THOU THE GUIDE IN ASSISTING ME TO FIND PEACE WITHIN MYSELF, THAT I MAY BE MORE AND MORE AT PEACE WITH THEE. The 4th: FATHER OF LOVE AND PEACE AND MERCY, LET ME REALIZE MORE AND MORE THAT UNTIL I HAVE FOUND PEACE WITH MY FELLOW MAN I MAY NOT FIND THAT PEACE WITH THEE THAT BRINGS THE FULL UNDERSTANDING OF THY LOVE TO THY SERVANTS HERE. The 5th: FATHER, GOD! WE CLAIM THY PROMISES IN JESUS, THE CHRIST! LET ME SO LIVE THAT HIS PEACE AND HIS GRACE MAY BE MINE DAY BY DAY! The 6th: FATHER, GOD! MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH! LET ME SEE THY GRACE AND THY MERCY IN SUPPLYING THE NEEDS OF MY BODY, MY MIND, MY HEART, NOW. NOT AS I WILL BUT THY WILL, O FATHER, BE DONE IN ME - NOW. The 7th: FATHER-MOTHER GOD! THOU IN THY LOVE ART MINDFUL OF THE CHILDREN OF MEN! LET ME MAGNIFY THAT LOVE IN MY DEALINGS WITH MY FELLOW MAN, IN THE PROBLEMS THAT ARE MINE DAY BY DAY BE THOU THE GUIDE, BE THOU THE HOPE; FOR THERE IS NO OTHER! The 8th: FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN! ALL GLORY, ALL PRAISE TO THEE FOR THE HOPE, FOR THE PEACE, FOR THE LOVE THOU HAST SHOWN TO ME! LET ME, O GOD, SO LIVE IN BODY, IN MIND, IN SUCH A WAY AND MANNER TO SHOW TO MY FELLOW MAN AN APPRECIATION OF THAT LOVE. The 9th: FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN! BRING PEACE AND

HARMONY INTO MY HEART! LET THE TROUBLES OF THE MOMENT, OF THE DAY, BE AS NAUGHT IN MY MIND. BUT MAY I FILL MY LIFE AND MY PURPOSES AND MY HEART WITH THY LOVE. The 10th: GRACIOUS FATHER! HEAR THOU THE PRAYER OF THY SERVANT, THAT SEEKS TO KNOW THY WAY, THY BIDDINGS. LET ME, O GOD, BE SATISFIED TO DO AND BE THAT THOU WOULD HAVE ME DO IN THIS EXPERIENCE. The 11th: OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN, HALLOWED BE THY NAME! LET PEACE AND MERCY AND JUDGMENT ABIDE IN ME, THAT I MAY DO THOSE THINGS THOU WOULD HAVE ME DO IN RELATIONSHIPS TO MY FELLOW MAN. The 12th: OUR FATHER AND OUR GOD! IN JESUS THOU HAST PROMISED THAT WHAT WE ASK IN HIS NAME WILL BE DONE IN OUR MINDS AND IN OUR BODIES IF WE BUT BELIEVE. HELP THOU, O GOD, OUR UNBELIEF! The 13th: OUR FATHER AND OUR GOD! LET THY LOVE SO OVERSHADOW US THAT WE MAY HAVE NAUGHT BUT THEE IN OUR MINDS AND IN OUR PURPOSES! AND MAY THY WAYS BE OUR WAYS! PUT AWAY FROM OUR THOUGHTS THOSE THINGS THAT WOULD MAKE US AFRAID, AND HELP US TO BOLDLY APPROACH THE THRONE OF MERCY AND GRACE AND ASK IN JESUS' NAME THAT WHICH WE OUGHT TO ASK FOR.

10. (Q) How may we get our book of Affirmations more generally distributed into the hands of those who may have need of them? (A) There are many groups that are seeking, are asking that they be helped. Choose groups or individuals in such groups; send them to them, in one, two or three, and ask that they be distributed to those that are seeking for such.

11. (Q) What type of groups would you suggest sending them to? (A) If they are healing affirmations, send them to such! If they are study group affirmations, send them to such!

12. (Q) How may we best present the Glad Helpers work through the Study Groups? (A) As the lessons of the Study Groups are presented, if properly, the work of the Glad Helpers is a part of the APPLICATION of the truths presented in same. For as has so oft been given, unless these be made a practical, livable experience, they are missing their mark! It isn't knowledge alone that should be presented in the Study Groups but a way and a means of LIVING those truths that are presented!

281-39 Page 4

The Glad Helpers or the healing groups are a portion of same.

13. (Q) The name Glad Helpers has seemed to cause unfavorable reaction in the minds of various members of the Association. Would it be wise to change the name by which this particular department of the Association will be known publicly? (A) If so chosen, it is well.

14. (Q) What name would you advise or suggest? (A) Prayer Group or Helpers.

15. (Q) Please give us specific directions for our hour meditation period which we hold as a group on Wednesdays. Would it be best to continue this as at present or change the form? (A) As has been indicated, from time to time it is well to change the form. Did the Master teach the same lesson on the mount as by the seashore? The basic truth is the same, to be sure, but the variation is as the temperament of the individuals. Thus it is oft well to vary such programs. As to specific ways and manners, this had best be determined by those - of course - that are in charge of same. For the moods and the manners oft make for a purpose and an attainment, when rote or rule merely becomes just such - without the real purpose being gained at all.

16. (Q) May anything be given us now on the chemical reaction of gold and silver in relation to mental and spiritual application on healing? (A) This had best be of itself.

17. (Q) [993]: How can I best direct boys and girls of the junior age in meditation? Please give me a program outlined by steps. Should affirmations be used with them? If so, what kind? (A) These are periods in the lives of boys and girls when there is the greatest chemical changes taking place within their bodies. This must ever be taken into consideration, if the more will be accomplished with such groups. There is at this period the first of the doubts arising in each mind, by the very field of their individual activity. This, too, must be taken into consideration. This is the period also when ideals are formed in the mind and heart of each. This, too, must be taken into consideration. And thus programs prepared in which, at the different sessions, all phases of the experiences and changes that are

281-39 Page 5

being wrought are given opportunity for full expression. Hence the presentation of the life of Jesus, of Peter, of the rest of the Apostles, of the Holy Women, of the teachers; not only as to their great accomplishments but as to their faults, their fancies - that each individual may draw comparisons. For as has so oft been given, let each individual realize that to make the Christ-Consciousness a part of self is to realize the activities of the individuals that manifested same in their experience and their lives; that their LIVES - as names, as individuals - are not only as history or historical facts but are EXPERIENCES in the life of each and every individual! What boy or girl has not experienced that quickness of speech as Peter? that desire to step out and TRY those very things as seen by the Christ-life? What boy has not seen the experience of where he, too, has denied his presence here or there, for the moment, to be as one of the crowd? What girl has not seen in the life of Mary, in the life of Elizabeth, in the life of Martha, in the life of Rhoda, those things that have been her own experiences? Then in the preparation, bring these facts - not as histories or historical facts alone, but as expressions of the consciousness of each of the individuals in seeking their closeness, their oneness with that being presented. As to the use of the affirmations - these are well, but let each of the group at SOME time be RESPONSIBLE for an affirmation that is to be used for a given period. For in such may each learn to pray, not only pray but to become a part of that being presented.

18. We are through for the present. [GD's note: HLC quoted Par. 17-A above in the January 1938 Association Bulletin.]
