Time of Reading 3:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Va. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [304]. This we have had before. In the general manner we find conditions improved physically from that as we have had here before. The congestion through the lung, and the inflammation in larynx and bronchia, shows much improvement. The drainage in the system, as related to the respiratory system, shows improvement.

2. The greater congestion at present is the condition in the liver and the circulatory system, as related to the eliminations of the poisons FROM congestion in lungs as distributed in the system, and the effect as this produces upon the heart's action. Hence the precautions in the present are, that there is not more cold or congestion in the lung and that the eliminations and the drainages in the system are kept up, and to the point where the system may ELIMINATE more through alimentary canal.

3. The circulation in the capillary and LYMPHATICS is very good, and it should be KEPT much in this same manner, so that COORDINATIONS may be kept in as near NORMAL manner as possible.

4. Consideration, then, must be given as to the VARYING conditions that have been of long standing [chronic asthma, etc.], and that there is not strain produced in ANY of these in their relationship to the disorders or distresses as are BEING ELIMINATED from the system.

5. Then, many VARYING conditions, as we would find, would be necessary in the present. Not varying so much in what is BEING accomplished, as a little variation in the MANNER this may BE accomplished.

6. Then, we would give as this:

7. First, as the stimuli for the cardiac forces, we would change to the usage of Syrup of Squill as a cardiac and as an aid in the respiratories, and ESPECIALLY easing conditions in the bronchia and lungs. Dosage would be from five to fifteen (5 to 15) drops given at least three to five

304-19 Page 2

(3 to 5) hours apart, or dependent UPON the heart's action and the tendency of the throat and bronchia as to irritation.

8. For an expectorant, we would prepare as this - making this first as a carrier: Take 2 ounces of Wild Cherry Bark and 1 ounce of Horehound. [Improved formula over horehound one given in 304-7 and 304-11.] These we would put in 16 ounces of distilled water. Reduce by slow boiling, allowing the steam from same to escape, see? Reduce to at least 6 ounces. Strain off, allow to cool - then add to this: Tincture of Stillingia............1/4 ounce, Codeine.............................1 grain, Syrup of, or Oil is better, of Sassafras......10 minims, Grain Alcohol (pure - or at least 90% proof).............2 ounces.

9. Shake the solution together before the dosage is taken. The dose would be teaspoonful. This may be taken whenever there is the tendency for the cough, or to RAISE the sputum, when the heavy breathing occurs.

10. After the coughing, and the irritation is felt, would be well that the inhalant [as in 304-8] be drawn ONCE into the lungs; not more than once - deep inhale should be experienced while the irritation is so great.

11. For the liver and the alimentary canal: These are being acted upon at the present. We would NOT IRRITATE same more at present, for the peristalsis will be interfered with to the extent as to PRODUCE too great an irritation through the condition existent in the rectum, or in the MUSCLES of same. Oil enema may be used occasionally.

12. After the second or third DAY, we would use those of the oil packs OVER the liver area, to make the reaction in the area of the more NORMAL reaction.

13. We would massage, at least ONCE each day, the lower portion of the spine and up as far as the 9th dorsal with equal parts of tincture of myrrh and olive oil. Heat the oil and add the myrrh. This, preferably, should be done of mornings which will REST the body more easily.

14. Oft during the day there should be at least a PORTION of a sponge bath, ESPECIALLY in regions where the LYMPHATICS are throwing off in the outer portion of system. This should NOT be done except with WARM water, warm to the body, warmer than just tepid.

15. The feet would be well to be rubbed well with HOT water, and bathe same in that of mutton tallow and of turpentine and spirits of camphor. About this proportion: To the mutton tallow, about 2 ounces - when melted or heated - add

304-19 Page 3

20 minims of the camphor and 15 minims of the turp. This should be of EVENING, and should be on the SOLES of the feet.

16. At least twice each day the manipulations should be given [by L. A. Lydic, D.O.] to RAISE the lower portion of the rib area; not STRAINING same, but RAISING same, so that the activity of the system as related to diaphragm's activity WITH the releasing of the congestion in liver will enable the circulation to become more normal.

17. DO this. Do this in the manner as is outlined, and we will find the bettered conditions coming to the body.

18. In the matter of diet and of stimulation: The diet should be those that to the BODY - for the body has very decided ideas! those that agree WITH the body. No sugars, but those of the nature that are more ALKALIN in their reaction. Whole wheat toast, with the milk not heated - for this would become reactionary to the body. Black coffee and milk may be taken, but not at the same period. The citrous fruits - these may be taken in moderation. Little or no meats, save fowl or fish, as yet - though the juices, even the broth of mutton or beef or wild game may be taken in moderation. The LESS amount, and more often given, will be the greater STRENGTHENING for the body. Spirits Frumenti may be taken as a stimulant, or those of SOUR wine. These are helpful, as would be brandy - provided it is not taken in LARGE quantity. Never should there be taken more than tablespoonful at a time, or nine hundred drops - and this should be taken very slowly.

19. Little exercise should be taken.

20. This will ENABLE the body to bring about the recuperative forces as HAVE been set in motion.

21. Beware in the heart's action and the congested liver. Ready for questions.

22. (Q) Would it be advisable for body to be taken to Cayce Hospital for convalescence? (A) Be very good.

23. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n office " " Cayce Hospital
