1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [307], present in this room, together with her health, her duty to members of her family, the privileges of working with the Study Groups of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, work on the lessons, the book A Search for God, the opportunity to work in the schools of Virginia and North Carolina, and her church work. You will go into these matters thoroughly and give specific or definite information, and counsel that may be easily understood by her. Then you will answer the questions that she may ask:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [307], present in this room.
3. In the physical well-being, much should be taken into consideration. To be sure, the body is not physically well, yet the physical attributes in the body are very good; very capable and very well in many respects.
4. The body should consider this, as in self: Few bodies there be that work themselves out. Not all rust out, either. It is confusion that causes the greater disturbance in a physical body that attempts, in its mental, its spiritual well-being, to coordinate all truths that are gained from each into a coordinant activity for material manifestation.
5. And these cause the upsets that arise in the experience of this body, oft. Not that the body may be said to be supersensitive to criticism, and yet when the body has attempted, does attempt to contribute to the well-being of those about the body and there are criticisms, the confusion in the mental and spiritual well-being oft causes such a disturbance as to be as upsetting as if the body were to do physically some act to bring extra amounts of poisons into activity of the body.
6. As to how one may so guard or protect self in and under such disturbance, may well take much consideration; and to cause an individual at times to give expression to much it
307-21 Page 2
doesn't really mean within self.
7. In the physical forces there is with this body, from the physical standpoint, the lack of proper eliminations. Much of this at times is caused by these very influences in the body. And all of the physic as might be taken would have little to do or contribute to a great deal of physical welfare, save for the moment.
8. But if there are precautions taken in the diet, not to have those combinations that the body finds will bring about such conditions as to cause greater amounts of acidity, or those foods that act as astringents, THEN when there are those reactions these will not cause the tie-ups through the alimentary canal as to produce those conditions that become hard physically to contend with.
9. For, the body and the mind sets itself to do this or that, and the knowledge of the power and the source of that power enables the body to accomplish same.
10. As to the activities in and about the home: If there is the desire on the part of self to contribute of its knowledge and its abilities to meet the present emergency situations in teaching, this - for the time being, or for the duration - may be a means for the body to contribute to a greater assistance to the sister, under the existent conditions.
11. This should not hinder the entity's interest in the influence of the Study Group work, nor that as may be the experience of others that may use the efforts that have been put forth by the entity in the compilation of "A Search for God." And this, as it may be handled through the counsel and advice of the entity by those in the home and associated with the entity respecting same, should be continued.
12. These as we find are the main efforts, the main determinations, the means of expression through which the entity may find the channels for its outlet at this particular time.
13. As to its associations and affiliations with teaching of the Sunday School, or in those groups: This do, ever. If it requires the entity's taking or changing its affiliation outwardly, then the entity itself only may answer as under what particular phase of activity it may choose. But remember, as was given of old, "Work where thou art. Use what thou hast in hand."
14. These are those suggestions, those directions as we would give for this entity at this time.
15. Ready for questions.
16. (Q) What is cause and relief for soreness in my right side and liver?
307-21 Page 3
(A) Just as indicated. This is oft a clogged circulation. It will be found that, when the body gives fuller expression of itself mentally, when the body is less in that position of feeling as if being in a position of activity, much of these conditions will disappear; provided there are those precautions as to the diet and the general physical exercise. When it is necessary there be better eliminations, use those compounds of the vegetable or senna base. These, as indicated, will give temporary relief. The body, as is understood, SHOULD be able to create, to make within its own self, those influences to keep and to retain all its activities. And this it is capable of doing, if an individual entity does not allow other forces to work one against another.
17. (Q) What can I do to gain strength in my knees and legs? (A) Keep better eliminations, and daily massage same - just before retiring - with peanut oil.
18. (Q) Should I continue taking Vitamin B Complex tablets, and Vitamins A and D? (A) These are well to be taken when there is not a tie-up in the eliminations. When eliminations are set up, take same. But if these are taken under the stress of the lack of functioning of the eliminating forces of the body, these produce more hindrances than helpfulness. They are as boosters, and if you boost a pain - do you relieve it, or get more pain?
19. (Q) What can I do to eliminate the cold I now have? (A) The better eliminations will make for bettered conditions. Use senna tea at this particular time. Don't try to take it all at once, but be consistent. And when these are set up, don't take too much of any acids, nor so much starch, as to cause those reactions not good through alimentary canal.
20. (Q) How may I be of greater help to my nephew, [361]? (A) By loving counsel and advice.
21. (Q) Advise me as to my duties to the Study Groups. Should I try to stimulate the old members or try to interest new ones? (A) Both. Do that, in each association, as is the prompting of thine own conscience. That which an individual entity has found good, in thine own experience, THAT aid in giving the power - in the truth in same - itself to work. Not as the power of thine self, but the power of the truth in same. Advise with, but not dogmatically.
22. (Q) How can we get our book, A Search for God, in the hands of those who need it?
307-21 Page 4
(A) By prayer and by the assisting of those who choose to aid in its distribution. Just as has been or may be indicated here: There are those who through their own activities have found, do find, this book an especial influence in their own experience. Some of these are seeking that same be distributed. Cooperate with such in their efforts to organize such groups in many parts of the land, where this may be used as a text book for such groups. This will not only enable those who are interested in the distribution to see this grow in a way that it should, but help those who receive same. Not as something that is sold off by the hundreds or thousands and forgotten next week, but something that grows, finds a place in those homes where the young and the old may meet and discuss those principles that are set forth there, as to how each in a home may cooperate, as to what should be their ideal, as to the whole of each subject that is presented there; in such a manner that it may become a living thing, known of men, applied in their lives daily.
23. (Q) Should we at this time endeavor to publish the second edition of this book, since now it will cost only $450.00? [A SEARCH FOR GOD, Book II] (A) This, if this is desired, may be done. Contributions may be obtained even from those who have already contributed, and who are continuing in a measure to put forth an effort to distribute same. But for what purpose? Is this that there may be a greater income in the treasury of this fund? Or is it that an ideal, a purpose, a living thing may be made to grow? Remember, make haste slowly. For, when there is a place for such efforts, He - the Giver of power, of purpose, of intent - will open the way.
24. (Q) Should we go to work at this time to compile the lessons of the second series with a view to publication? (A) Better have the first find its place first. But work on same if they be worth while. They will be sought later. [GD's note: Book II was published in 1950]
