Time of Reading ... St., 3:30 to 3:55 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Va. (Questions)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [311]; this we have had before, also those conditions in the mental and material affairs.
2. Ready for questions.
3. (Q) In Par. 5-A in rdg. of Apr. 15th [311-11], you state in part part, "while there have been some considerations on the part of those in authority, in the solicitation or commercial fields, with the body..." What is the name of the person in authority you are speaking of? (A) When (This should be known by the body!) - when there are the considering of changes, and especially where there is the change from from one system to another in the traffic or commercial divisions, these are rather the thought and activity of more than one individual. There is rather the suggestion on the part of one or more as to the advisability of such changes. Then those considerations are given, as it were, an airing before MORE than one, as may be in the same department of such divisions of such systems. Hence, this is rather as the GROUP than an individual consideration, see? For, it came first through those who have been under, or IN action in the territory that has been covered by the body. Then the suggestion has reached that point where the consideration has been among three, four; yea, FIVE of those that may be considered as being in authority. Hence the information as given is as of the group, rather than of individual. For, this is much better than one fellow thinking you're a pretty good man!
4. (Q) Am I to understand from ans. to second ques. [Par. 2-A] in rdg. of April 15th that a change to the Southern Ry. should be sought so that I will live in Washington, D.C., or
311-12 Page 2
that change be sought thru the Southern Ry. officials in Washington, regardless of where the changes might take me? (A) REGARDLESS, rather, of where the changes might take you; though through the officials in Washington.
5. (Q) Please give the name and title of the person with the Southern Ry. in their Traffic Dept. in Washington, D.C., that I should approach to make application for a position. (A) Rather, as we have indicated and just given, let this be through the approach of the associate, or of those whom the body contacts who are IN this division who have made those suggestions that are now under consideration in the office, see?
6. (Q) Do you mean for them to approach me, or let them approach me? (A) Let them approach the BODY, for it is under consideration! but make it known to the associate, or to the connection, that this WOULD be agreeable for a consideration, to be sure!
7. (Q) What person should I approach to let it be known? (A) Those, or that one that covers the territory for the Southern that is covered by the body, under or in the present position.
8. (Q) Is it John Andrews? (A) Yes, through Andrews.
9. (Q) If advancement is to be offered by the [... R.R.] in 1933 will it be in Norfolk or will I be transferred to another city? (A) Rather appears that this would be still in this same territory, though it may require the activities to be more IN another city - but would be - this would be - a portion of the territory, see?
10. (Q) What city? (A) Raleigh.
11. (Q) What position? (A) That remains to be seen, as yet. Let's take 'em as they come along!
12. (Q) Shall I approach John Andrews immediately regarding the change to Southern Ry.? (A) In a diplomatic way and manner, yes, it would be well to approach him immediately.
13. (Q) How about approaching C. L. Candler, Gen. Agt., Norfolk? (A) He's been questioned also; it wouldn't be bad through this either!
14. (Q) Would it be better to approach Mr. Wright, the Commerical Agt. in Norfolk? (A) He's been spoken of here, but rather through Candler or Wright - but it will go through Andrews, or they will speak
311-12 Page 3
through that channel, because that's the first approach - because, you see, there's been rather the approach from those questionings of Andrews as to the conditions that existed between the activities of the two in the territory covered.
15. (Q) What is the present outlook regarding railroad consolidations? (A) As we find, even MANY of the departments and even heads of departments in the railroad have not understood, or do not understand, the purpose or the plan in that termed consolidation. The consolidation, as we find, will revert more to changes in the higher salaried men, and a supervisor, than of interference with the soliciting, the agents, or other departments in the various systems. Where the changes would be, rather than competitions as to make for the OVERLAPPING of the HEADS in these, these would run rather as one with the other, see?
16. (Q) Will business conditions general continue to steadily improve during 1933 or will there be serious setbacks during the year? (A) This would require rather the analysis of a broad field of activity. Yet, as we find, as a WHOLE, business will continue to steadily improve. While, in some specific portions of the country, in some specific activities there will be from time to time setbacks. That which has to do with the GENERAL activity, that influences or causes the activities through RAILROADS, will continue to improve. Those that will receive setbacks will be in the motive interests. Those that will be further advanced will be the steel interests, cement interests, and those of that nature. Those of the manufacturing interests, as related to cloth, commodities, household commodities and of that nature, these will all continue, as we find, to be steadily - STEADILY - and some, of course, faster than others - on the improve.
17. (Q) What sections of the country will show the quickest improvement? (A) Tennessee, Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, portions of Texas, and - NATURALLY - towards the New England States; not the whole but portions of these, through the steel portion of the country; then the extreme western portion. You see, these cover the GENERAL, rather than the motive interests.
18. (Q) Between what dates will there be recessions in business generally? (A) This would be hard to say, unless we would consider many of the various changes that are being considered in the various portions of the activities throughout the country. As it appears in the present (though these may be changed
311-12 Page 4
next week!), it would be through August to the middle of September.
19. (Q) Will business continue to improve through May and June without any setback? (A) Continue, generally, to improve, through May and June and July. August, portions of September, we may expect some setbacks. These come from the variations in those activities that we have indicated, and the MORALE - of course - that such produces on general conditions. Though, the incomes, the outgoing of these improvements, in movements throughout the country, will continue on the improve.
20. (Q) Please give me detailed information regarding the organization you mention known as Advanced Thought. (A) From Norwalk, Ohio. Here we have a group of individuals, which has gradually grown in activities; while not wholly of the Rosicrucian movement nature, nor of New Thought, nor of the spiritualistic influence, yet it has something of all of these - see? There has gradually been considered various individuals, through various portions of the country, who will be considered as those who may be chosen as active organizers or active individuals in the organization of the movement. Hence it will gradually come, or will eventually come, to this body. WAIT for it! Don't push the self on it, or seek; let it seek you, as given!
21. (Q) Has it actually been formed and is it functioning now? (A) If it hadn't been, we wouldn't have suggested it nor that we have the abilities to!
22. (Q) What is the name of its principal official? (A) Wait until you get to that! It may be changed several times before it comes to you!
23. (Q) Who is giving this information at this time? (A) Demetrius.
24. (Q) Any other advice or counsel at this time? (A) Keep in the way that is known to self. Step by step make those activities in the mental forces of the body work with self for the material interests that are not self-exalting, but for the general good of all.
