Time of Reading 4:10 to 4:15 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Virginia.
1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions that may be asked:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [324]; this we have had before.
3. As we find, while it is not entirely out of danger - the body has been very close to very serious disturbances with the soft tissue about the head and ear, from the inflammation as from the stomach and a general disturbance.
4. Now, in the present, we would begin with Grape Poultices over the abdomen. Crush the grapes and apply in a poultice about an inch thick, directly to the body - but between gauze, see? Do not put in water nor boil or the like, but crush the raw grapes - seed and all - and apply; spreading them about an inch thick between the gauze, you see. And we will reduce the temperature! When one poultice is warm from the body heat, remove and apply another poultice of fresh grapes.
5. Also we would have a diet, we might say, mostly of grapes - or grape juice; the same character of grapes as those used for the poultice - but not the same, of course, that are used over the abdomen! But do not eat the seeds. Of course, the seed may be left or should be left in those used for the poultice, but they should never be eaten - nor in the juice taken. The Concord Grapes are the best, if it is possible to obtain them. If not, use the purple grapes that may be obtained - as the California Grapes, but NOT the white grapes!
6. Begin with Castoria in small broken doses. Keep this until there is a general flushing of the system. Give about half a teaspoonful every hour, until it tends to make for a drugging as it were of the system. Given in that manner the body will absorb same, especially if the main portion of the diet - not altogether, of course, but principally - is of the grapes.

7. Around the back of the ear, around the glands of the neck that are so swollen, we would massage with goose oil or goose marrow. These it would be best to reduce gradually, but they will NOT be reduced until the poisons and the temperature are eliminated from the alimentary canal!
8. There has been sufficient arousing of the lymph through the properties given to eliminate the worms that have been a part of the condition. Then keep the body away from candy and sweets and buns and pies and the like! Honey may be taken, but do not give any quantity of sweets for many, many days yet!
9. Of course, broths may be the other portion of the diet in the present.
10. And if these are kept, we should find in two days that the body should be up and free of temperature.
11. Ready for questions.
12. (Q) Is there any way to clear up the condition of the ear? (A) As we have indicated, only through the eliminations of the poisons that tend to make for the accumulations there. And these arise from the STOMACH! NOT from the local condition there! However, the gland has been involved, see? Hence the goose oil, or St. Jacob's Oil, or the like - anything that will strike in DEEP! This is much better. Then, of course, if neither of these can be obtained, use the combination of Mutton Suet, Turpentine and Camphor.
13. (Q) Just to massage with? (A) Just to massage, and if it is put on a cloth and used about same - as around the neck, it would be much better; as well as back of the ear. Because if this tissue - if this temperature keeps up, it'll be bad!
14. (Q) Should a tonic be given? (A) Don't think about a tonic now! Let's get rid of the trouble! Think something about a tonic in three days from now, but let's eliminate this poison! If we would give a tonic, we would say Grove's Tasteless Chill Tonic - and that wouldn't be easy to give! It's called tasteless, but it lacks a heap of it!
15. (Q) Any other suggestions? (A) Do these for the present, and in three days we may give suggestions for the tonic or for the corrections to build up the system, after the poisons have been alleviated.
16. We are through for the present. Copy to Mrs. [413]
