Time of Reading Cayce Hospital, 4:25 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Virginia Beach, Va. (Physical and Mental reading, with questions on all phases of her life)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, Mrs. [325]. This we have had before. Now, we find there are changes in the physical forces, the mental forces of this body, since last we had same. In many respects there are the accentuations of conditions as have been viewed. In others, these as disturb the body at present are changed, for the disturbance comes under a different mental status for the physical forces.

2. These, then, are conditions as we find them at this time with this body, Mrs. [325] we are speaking of:

3. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find shows some effect of the mental strain under which the body labors, as it also does in the functioning of organs as disturbed BY this strain. So, the conditions as are apparent may not wholly be attributed to the mental status or mental condition; neither may they be wholly attributed to the physical disturbances - but rather the combination of both.

4. These are evidenced in the disturbance in the manner in which coagulation takes place, in the manner in which infection and re-infection takes place - as is seen in condition in hand, condition in the skin, in the finger, in various portions of the body. Locally, here it may be given, while those applications as are used - or have been used for the finger - are good, THESE, as we find, would respond much quicker: Use a warm (not hot) solution of the antiseptic Bichloride (not too strong), then the plain unguentine wrapped about same, of sufficient thickness or heaviness as to prevent any air or re-infection with same. This would respond quickly. Dress it at least every other day, or every day - until the infection is entirely allayed.

5. In the effect as is produced in the blood, in the cuticle, or the exterior portion - or body in general - this greater disturbance comes from the condition of the liver.

325-28 Page 2

Not wholly is this from nerve reaction, but from the regurgitation, as has been seen - or as has been given aforetime respecting that condition existent in the right side, where the stress of those conditions existing in the STRAIN as long since produced in system, in that about the glands through which absorption of new blood takes place. The excitement, strain or overtaxation, banks up, or prevents a normal elimination. Hence the liver becomes torpid, and the reaction or the bitterness as appears in the stomach and taste, or belching. These are but RESULTS of this disturbance.

6. We also find, as is seen in the cervical - especially in the 3rd and 4th centers - those of a pressure, preventing the proper distribution of blood supply and blood forces to the brain. This producing that overtaxation, or ringing in the ears - the taste in the mouth, the dryness in throat, over secretions in the nasal cavities, the lack of blood supply - or lack of proper coordination OF the blood supply to the eyes, to the face. These produce distortions in the activity, and at times are lax - or when the body IS relaxed are not so severe, but any disturbance whether from the sensory system or the physical reactions, or that of the purely sensory reaction through sense of smell or taste, unkind words, unkind acts, or such, reacts sympathetically to the whole system. These are reflex disturbances, to be sure, from those as have been seen and given. Nevertheless, they become distortions for the system. These come not wholly from the blood supply, but from the disturbance BETWEEN the blood supply, the elimination as nominal in system, and as those as are distortions through the activities of the blood supply being distributed normally. In the general effect as this has produced in the system, these then are reflexes.

7. Rest, proper eliminations set up, and the proper distribution of nerve energy osteopathically through the system, would relieve these stresses and strains. These should be by the gentle massage over the whole system, and the CORRECTION of those tensions - especially in the upper dorsal and through- out the cervical region. Keep the hot applications to those parts where cold spots appear, in the dorsal and cervical. We would also add those at times of Epsom Salts packs to the right side, and WELL were those of the liver packs - or of Castor oil packs over the liver - used to relieve that distress there, as the body rests. Two or three days of this, and we would find quite a different reaction in the system. We would do that. Ready for questions.

8. (Q) What diet is best daily for a week? (A) Under the present condition, those of nourishing broths, salads, or of such natures - that REBUILD the system, as to satisfying of the appetite and of the stimulating of the system in a general manner. These should debar, then, anything that is for HEAVINESS ONLY in system. Rather a nourishing; not too heavy a diet, but a NOURISHING diet.

9. (Q) Should forcible correction of 3rd cervical be done? (A) 3rd cervical correction may be forcibly made, AFTER the body has been THOROUGHLY RELAXED - but better that this be carried on in a longer drawn out manner than to force it of a sudden. While the pressure will be removed, but the STRAIN on the system would be too severe for too SUDDEN adjustment.

10. (Q) Considering conditions at home, how long should the body stay at the Cayce Hospital? (A) Just as long as it can satisfy its mind that it can!

11. (Q) If treatments are followed, can body live to the ripe old age as promised it? (A) This is as has been given. [GD's note: She had been told in a previous reading years ago, her son said, that, although an injury to her breast had set up conditions which might eventually become fatal, she could live - with proper treatment, the proper mental attitude, etc. - live a life of usefulness for at least 12 or 15 years more. She died 10/21/35 from the breast cancer.]

12. (Q) Should [459], her daughter, live with her, for her best mental condition? (A) In considering such, there are MANY conditions to be taken into consideration. For the better mental condition, and for the service EACH may give - as a whole - be better that they be together.

13. (Q) Does the body need new glasses at this time? (A) When the changes are properly made, there should be new glasses - but not necessary for the change in too STRONG glasses, or too cylindrical in their operation. That is, the elongation in the optical reflex is not produced by the deterioration of the active forces, but by PRESSURE. Then, when proper adjustments the reaction would be rather the opposite from that as has been looked for. If changed, don't go to the same optician.

14. (Q) Would you suggest an optician? (A) ANYONE that is a REAL optometrist.

15. (Q) Is it best for body to continue to live in New York or with [459] in Jersey? (A) That the body had best determine - but, all considered

325-28 Page 4

- and conditions - best in New York.

16. (Q) Should the body attempt to bring her [Okla.] daughter, [558], to New York to live permanently? (A) That would eventually come, as we see - but not just yet. Be some months yet. [GD's note: The daughter [558] & family did eventually move to N.Y.]

17. (Q) What special exercise will the body be able to take, or should take, after three or four days treatment? (A) Shouldn't take too MUCH exercise. Little walking, little looking around - that would be the most.

18. (Q) Should the body use lights, especially for right breast? (A) The ultra violet, yes.

19. (Q) How often? (A) Two days - every two days.

20. (Q) What lamp can she buy and use safely at home, that will benefit this condition? (A) That's rather a risky BUSINESS. There should be rather the continued looking out for the proper eliminations. This does not mean wholly through alimentary canal, but through the RESPIRATORY system, through the kidneys, through the liver, through the perspirations as should be brought about. These may BEST be brought about by the manipulations osteopathically. That's why the OSTEOPATHIC profession should stand as a head for MOST of physical ailments and treatments; for the general distribution when properly administered (it may be bungled, of course) - properly administered - it AIDS most in COORDINATION with the general ELIMINATIONS and CORRECTIVE measures where lesions, adhesions, or such conditions arise, and OPERATES THROUGH NORMALCY; so, when conditions ARE adjusted, the body is near NORMAL and not OVERTAXED in ONE portion, as are in so MANY - either as purely adjustments or that of medication that operates at the expense of another vibratory force set up. So, as is seen in the application of lights: Lights are proper in certain conditions, breaking up the vibratory forces where there is a tendency of accumulation, or segregation in the system. In THIS particular case, these are to be ELIMINATED by DRAINAGE being started properly in the system. Then, have lights applied by one who would also look after such distribution of eliminations and of stimulating and relaxing and causing contraction in the various portions as would be NECESSARY with such conditions set up. See? Don't be penny-wise and pound-foolish!

21. (Q) Will Dr. Theo. Berger, present in this room, be

325-28 Page 5

able to carry out these instructions? (A) He can.

22. (Q) What bright outlook will this body have for 1930 that will bring mental happiness to her? (A) This would be rather speculative. There are many conditions with the mental forces of the body, physically that are to be changed through the coming year, or 1930 - as called. These, in many respects, will be gratifying, satisfying, to the body mentally and physically. There will continue to arise some of those disturbing forces, but - as has been seen and given - as a general, the relationships between the individual and with one whom the body may rest or depend, will be the MOST satisfying, most gratifying - for, as the changes come, as necessarily come with the varying effects as are produced by the mental attitudes of individuals through the sphere, we find that age depends more and more - and when that dependency is placed with and where there is comfort for each in one another, then this should be, will be, the most satisfying, most gratifying, to know that - as each depend upon the other - there is the fulfilling of the purposes. While, to be sure, there would come with this body those of the wonderments, yet in the changes as seen in those about them - most satisfying. We are through.
