Time of Reading 3:15 to 3:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Md. (Physical Suggestion)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [333]; this we have had before.
2. As we find in the present, physical conditions are somewhat a reverting to old disturbances; though there are some differences in the general physical conditions at present from that as first experienced - and not so serious, nor will it be so disturbing to eliminate same, if there are the applications as we find that will make for greater corrections.
3. The poisons that arise from the poor peristaltic movement and the engorgements through portions of the colon area being slowed up by those disturbances of the hernia, or the folds of the intestines themselves becoming choked or clogged through these protrusions, make for the nervousness, the disturbances in the blood supply, the inabilities to rest easily; so easily tired and WORN from any activities.
4. The activities of the body the more recently, and the neglecting of the proper eliminations and the taking of those precautions as to the support for the hernia, cause the greater distresses.
5. As we would find then in the present, we would apply as this:
6. About three times each week have a general [osteopathic or chiropractic] manipulation, not so much corrections but general manipulation along the whole of the cerebrospinal system. At the same time have the one making the manipulations to make adjustments in the lower limbs, or from the knees down and especially in the bursa of the feet. This will take off a great deal of this strain and equalize the circulation again towards the trunk portion of the body, prevent the body so easily tiring and the general conditions or health of the body.
7. Have the proper adjustments made for a truss.
8. Make two preparations, one to be used of a morning before
333-7 Page 2
putting on the truss, the other in the evening when removing same. This is to be massaged more in the abdominal area and especially over the disturbing portions, see?
9. The morning would be: Equal parts Olive Oil, Tincture of Myrrh and Compound Tincture of Benzoin. Heat the Olive Oil to add the Myrrh, not to boiling but sufficiently warm that when the other is stirred in it mixes; then add the other. Shake together these equal portions, before application is made. Massage into the body what the body will absorb.
10. That to be used in the evening: To an ounce of PURE HOG LARD - not cottonseed or other compounds but the PURE hog lard, add: Spirits of Turpentine................20 minims, Spirits of Camphor...................30 minims.
11. Work this together, for this will tend when standing for a long time to separate. Keep in a glass or crock jar, not with a metal top but with a small paddle that will be used to mix this thoroughly together each evening before it is applied, see? Here again, just what the body will absorb, almost over the same areas.
12. Do not BIND save as for the necessity of morning, of course, when preparing for labors to put on the adjusted truss.
13. Each evening, for at least a week, take an enema. Not necessarily a high enema but that with a Fountain Syringe may be used, but take a full applicator of same; and in the quart or quart and a half of water put a heaping teaspoonful of salt and a level teaspoonful of soda. Dissolve same thoroughly. Do not have warmer than the temperature of the body. Do this for at least three days in succession, longer if there is the tendency for dullness or sluggishness, either in the feelings or in the eliminations.
14. Keep the diets near unto those that have been indicated. The more mental and physical activity, the more needs for a diet that gives the strength.
15. Making the adjustments, we would give Wahlen. [Ada Wahlen, D.C.]
16. Ready for questions.
17. (Q) What was cause of the excessive urination following long period of previous treatment? (A) Pressures from colon upon the bladder area.
18. (Q) Is it still possible to correct hernia condition through osteopathic treatments? (A) This as we find will materially aid it, and there has to be builded the strengthening sufficient of the walls of the abdomen that there is not an adherence, to be sure, but
333-7 Page 3
sufficient elasticity yet strength for the muscular forces as are folds to draw sufficiently close together to contain same without producing a strain upon the membranes surrounding the intestinal system.
19. (Q) Should a truss or belt be worn, if so what kind? (A) Have an adjustment made by an experienced one or one given in such manners. Any type that fits and is easily adjusted.
20. (Q) Any further guidance for this body? (A) Do these as indicated and we will find the body physically better, mentally more active, and the whole reaction for improvements.
