Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Body and enquiring mind, in regard to his mental and material affairs, his associates and associations. Advise him as to the success of his new venture in the ... Corp., and then answer the questions which he has submitted.)

1. EC: We have the body, the enquiring mind, [335]; the material and mental associations of the body, and those activities that are contemplated in the new surroundings.

2. As we find, these are shaping themselves in a satisfactory way and manner, in so far as there have been the abilities to carry out and formulate the policies in the direction indicated - respecting not only the contacts in the distilling, the brewing, but also the exports or imports.

3. There will be the necessity of there being made such contacts, in the various connections that have been established, for the importation of certain characters of the liqueurs and wines - and also the vinous and malt spirits. These, as they are carried on in the proper direction, will make for satisfactory returns.

4. Do not follow policies other than that which has been the policy of the body [335] in his dealings with varied groups, or with the connection in the governmental associations or the like. For as indicated, the policies heretofore in these lines - as in others - have been above reproach. Then, do not have those associations or those individuals who countenance or lean towards stepping aside owing to stringent conditions in the directions where - Yes, might be able to shun some of these at times, but not for long!

5. Ready for questions.

6. (Q) In what division may I expect the greatest success in our business? (A) In the wine and the vinous or spirit malt.

7. (Q) How can we improve the organization to aid it in functioning more perfectly? (A) In following those outlines or distinctions in the

335-4 Page 2

various activities of the organization, in its distribution, in its setting up of its connections in the varied activities of its functioning as an organization, in the various branches and channels - keeping these more and more in align with those policies of the body.

8. (Q) Have I a loyal associate in the person of Claude [...], Vice President in charge of sales? (A) So long as there is not too great a conflict in the policies in the directions as indicated. Not that [...] would knowingly or reasonably allow self to be led into activities in the sales, or the distribution of the sales, into fields that would become questionable, but some of the higher ASSOCIATES with [...] in the field of activities would lead him so - and blindly. Hence watch all of these connections.

9. (Q) How can his policies as set out be improved upon to make for permanent success? (A) As indicated. Nearer those policies, in all such activities, that have been held by [335] in such an association.

10. (Q) How can we improve our manufacturing set-up? (A) Well, this is not far enough advanced in many of the connections to be able to give much improvement from that as set in the present. There will be necessitated more than just one or two runs made, for it to be given as to what improvements might be had.

11. (Q) Is the rectifying plant in ..., N.J., functioning properly? (A) Not so good. This, as will be found, will be the source of a great deal of disturbance unless those in charge of the rectifying plant are brought more in accord with the first policies that were set out respecting the MANNER in which the rectifying was to be carried on.

12. (Q) What can [335] do to relieve this situation? (A) Look it over and insist that the policies that were set at first respecting these be followed more closely.

13. (Q) How can Edward [...] be of more value to me personally? (A) In the breweries distribution end. As we find, in such associations and capacities [...] is good. While there is not required, nor is there need be that more leeway or more individual activity be given [...], yet the abilities are there, and - as conditions progress, as we would find, [...] would prove most satisfactory in whatever field of endeavor or activity the body operates or works in.

14. (Q) How can I keep him happy and loyal to me? (A) As indicated, while not giving too much leeway, do not cramp the abilities of the body too much.

15. (Q) How can the value of Harry [...] be improved?

335-4 Page 3

(A) These questions are rather personal, and rather individual. And we wouldn't care to, or would rather not, comment on this man!

16. (Q) In what sections of the country can be built the best business? (A) As indicated, in the present there is more leeway or more activities imminent in certain portions of the country than in others; yet the abilities in the various fields of activity will be found to function in their various departments to meet most of the situations in the various states. As in the wine and the beer portion, it will be found in some states there is not the full activity of the sale - other than included in these portions - that may be made the most satisfactory, while in others the higher grade or the legal sales in the various sections. Then, in the various states as they are made open for the sale, distribution and handling, each will present its own problem; and the organization must be so set as to meet these conditions in an equitable, legitimate and sincere manner to meet the demands of the government, the state, and the needs of self FOR the sale and for the distribution! Do not cut off the nose to spite your face, but meet the situations promptly and properly! As to which ones, as indicated, these will present their own problems. Then, where the activities are as varied as these in the organization that is being set up, gradually getting under way, it can only be given that the various circumstances are to be met as they present themselves. Pennsylvania, Ohio, Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Missouri, Virginia, West Virginia - all the various situations will be met as they arise.

17. (Q) How successful will be our stock issue which was offered to the public on Tuesday, Nov. 28th? (A) It's already seen! It's already been seen as to how, and as to where, and as to what way this may be made the most valuable to the organization, and as to just how the feelings of the public are in this direction, in the various distributing centers. It will be successful.

18. (Q) What warnings should I have which will enable me to prevent unnecessary errors in our business plan? (A) These have been given in the various forms and channels that have come through, as to individual situations, individual associations and individual plants. However, if the policies are held to that have been maintained by [335] in his dealings in such situations before, there is nothing to fear.

19. (Q) What is necessary to make our ... Brewery at ...,

335-4 Page 4

Pa., successful? (A) Carry on!

20. (Q) Is it being operated on best plan and method now? (A) Carry on.

21. (Q) How can we improve management of ... Brewery at ..., Ohio? (A) When time comes for the activities of these in greater proportions, as we find, the situation may be met by those that are in charge or that are in the handling of same.

22. (Q) When will laws of country be stabilized sufficiently that we can arrange our nationwide campaign for business? (A) In May.

23. (Q) Should our business be developed entirely through State Distributors or will the direct to dealer or larger outlet be necessary; or which is better for us to develop? (A) State will be the best in the beginning, and through these - as they come into the line of the activities - you meet the needs of those in the various states; for all are in quite a muddle, until they begin to settle themselves - then the situation can be so built up as to the various distributing points and distributing agencies, as to the various types of products. So, in the present, the best way and manner would be through the states.

24. (Q) Do we need additional lines of merchandise from present lines of merchandise already arranged for? (A) Work those we have! Those outside - the imports - some of these will be necessary, as indicated.

25. (Q) Which of our manufacturing units can be developed for the most profit? (A) As indicated, at various periods of activities various units in their activity will be the more necessary for the better distribution, for the activities in the various ways and manners as to meet the needs. As to which one in the present, those where the greater distribution may be made in the immediate.

26. (Q) How long will it take us to make the business run on a regular profitable basis? (A) Six to eight months.

27. (Q) Are the principal members of my organization working in harmony? (A) In the greater portion, yes.

28. (Q) What about the organization that Mr. Timmerman has brought with our auditing, bookkeeping and purchasing departments? (A) We don't get the connections here.

29. (Q) Is Mr. Timmerman the best man obtainable for this position? (A) We don't get the connection. There seems to be interference. Seems to have been some changes around here,

335-4 Page 5

or must need some changes mighty bad! We don't get any connections, as to that with the whole organization.

30. (Q) Are we thoroughly protected with the attorneys we have? (A) They are very good. Know their business. Know their line. Let them watch the various states and their activities, and those activities of the organizations IN the various states, and as to how there is the interchange of the states as to the various products manufactured in them and the effects of these in their distribution in other states.

31. (Q) What is the best place in the business for Lewis Stark? (A) He would have to make a place, if we would see him having anything to do with it. Make a place for himself rather in the brewing end, or the beer end.

32. (Q) What is the value of Perry Post to this business? (A) Whatever value he makes of himself! His abilities in some directions are very good. But he knows too much, or thinks he knows so much more than his abilities demand!

33. (Q) Is he loyal to me? (A) Loyal sufficient, if his bombastic abilities are put rather on the quiet.

34. (Q) Who is he most loyal to in the business? (A) Most loyal to himself! That's why some quietus should be put on some of it!

35. (Q) What is Crider's [Claude Crider] attitude in his association with Jewish people? (A) It's very good.

36. (Q) An old income tax matter which has worried me considerably, please recommend how to handle same properly. (A) Give it to an income tax man, as Smart of Chicago - [John E. (Jack) Smart] who has had some dealings with some of the organizations in which [335] has been interested, and let him handle it!

37. (Q) What general advice may be offered to me for my personal guidance in making myself successful both in the eyes of God and man? (A) Keep those policies that have builded self to know self to be honest with self. And when you are honest with self you will not be false to the God or to the fellow man. Meet every condition fairly, squarely. Every act must be met by self, in its dealings with its fellow man. Those that are questionable ever to self must be met in the same way and manner later on. KNOW, then, that the activities - if they are kept with the same policies that have been builded, that have builded for

335-4 Page 6

self the self-respect, the self-esteem that is held by friend and foe alike - are kept such that the success is made on a basis that is of CREATIVE influence; and only such may last.

38. That is all the questions.

39. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Mr. [257] " " File
