Time of Reading 4:20 to 4:35 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Va. (Physical Suggestion)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [340] - this we have had before.
2. Now, as we find, there have been some upsets again in the digestive forces that affect the eliminations through the channels of the alimentary canal. Some of the old disturbances have been aroused through indiscretions in the diet and in the activities of the system.
3. Though conditions are somewhat improved, we would in the present thoroughly cleanse the alimentary canal (to prevent this HANGING-ON to the distressing of the body), and do so in such a way and manner as to produce the least amount of irritation, yet stimulating the various glands and secreting organs to the extent as to make for a near balance in the system when this has been accomplished.
4. First we would begin with as much olive oil as the body will assimilate. Take this for three to four days in very small quantities; if it produces belching or a tendency for irritation then reduce the quantity but keep on taking it! Begin with taking a quarter of a teaspoonful every two or three hours; of course, don't wake up at night and take it, but take through the waking hours. After it has been taken for three to five days, then:
5. The first day take a tablespoonful Milk of Magnesia.
6. The next day take a tablespoonful Milk of Bismuth, to which is added six to eight drops Lactated Pepsin.
7. Then rest one day.
8. Then take a whole bottle of Castoria; taken half a teaspoonful at a dose two to three hours apart. This will make for a cleansing and an absorbing of the properties that are effective to the digestive system. A whole day period will be required to take this, with as gentle reaction and elimination as may be had. This will also prove very helpful to the tendency for the cough and the irritation

that comes from the muco-membranes being disturbed in the duodenum and upper portion of the stomach proper. That tickling in the throat will be aided. For this we would again prepare the quantity of the cough syrup and expectorant that has been given, with the horehound. [See 340-18.] To this at this time, however, we would add one gram of mullein leaves; then make in the regular form when this is cooked all together, see? making a syrup; or if preferable the syrup of mullein may be added to the quantity as it is produced, twenty to thirty minims. It would be much easier, though, to use the mullein itself, cooked together with the horehound in making the syrup, see?
9. Ready for questions.
10. (Q) What causes the dizziness? (A) The regurgitation from or into the pancrean reactions of the system; or a disturbance of the gall ducts themselves, produced by inflammation in the colon.
11. (Q) In preparing the cough syrup, should the green or dried mullein be used? (A) The green would be preferable.
12. (Q) Are cereals for breakfast bad for this body? (A) Bad if taken with fruit or citrus fruit juices, but either the cooked or the dried are very well if they are not eaten too fast.
13. (Q) What should the diet be during this course of medicine? (A) Not that which is heavy, nor that carried any great amount of seasoning of any kind, especially of pickles or any condiments that are heavy in or to the system. A general diet, well-balanced, that will give to the system, as it is assimilated, a well-balanced supply to the nerve and blood supplies of the body. Not too much sweets, nor yet too much starches, but well-balanced.
14. (Q) Why is there a more uncomfortable feeling in the intestinal region when I am lying down than otherwise? (A) Because the tendency is for a slow circulation when in repose. The body will find it much easier were it to turn to the right side and kind of on the face when lying down; this will make for an easier position. Begin immediately, however, with the properties given and we will find there will be the absorption sufficient in the quantities of oil given that there will be more activity of the lymph and emunctory circulation through the intestinal system, giving a nearer normal peristaltic movement of the jejunum and colon. Then, when the drosses are gathered by the forces given for the eliminations, these will be much more effective and the body will feel very much better.
15. (Q) Is the present cough caused from the intestinal
340-19 Page 3
condition or lack of vitality? (A) Kind of both; or they are both contributory factors. The real cause is more from the pressure in the transverse, or upper portion of the transverse colon, IRRITATING the circulation, that makes to the secondary or sympathetic cardiac plexus that irritation to the throat.
16. (Q) What exercises should be taken to strengthen the muscles in the abdomen? (A) Let's get them cleansed first! and then we will give you the exercise! Don't try to exercise when you're trying to cleanse them, as you'd cause more irritation than you'd be aiding the system? The exercise would be the CIRCULAR motion of the hips and lower limbs, lying prone and swinging them from side to side; these strengthen the muscles of the abdomen, as would also the exercise of lying prone on the floor, placing the feet against the wall and raising to the hands, CIRCULATING the abdomen in the motions, circulating both ways. These will strengthen the muscles of the abdomen, and be less straining on the system than most any activity. It is not easy to do, until you try it often!
