Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Va. (Physical Suggestion)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [340]; this we have had before.
2. Now, we find there is in the present an accentuation of those conditions that have in part been described; brought on in the present through anxiety and the reactions of the nerve forces of the body, in the present conditions [Husband out of work, having to sell furniture, move, etc.]. And these make for aggravations of nerve ends and tissue (that is, scar tissue) in a manner that conditions have been described; making for reactions in the body producing an internal temperature that in its reaction causes the using up of all the plasm supplied through the muco-membrane circulation in the intestinal system, and through the alimentary canal proper, producing heaviness, nausea, headaches, bearing down pains across the abdomen and lower limbs, dizziness in the head and such reactions.
3. As we find in the present, we would advise such as this:
4. In the evening we would bathe across the lower portion of the lumbar and sacral area with olive oil and tincture of myrrh, and use a salt pack over same.
5. Do this whenever there are the periods of distresses in this portion of the system, and we will find relief from these conditions.
6. We would have prepared a tonic in this manner, in the present condition:
7. To 1 gallon of distilled water, add: Wild Ginseng Root, well powdered (not ground but powdered)..............2 ounces, Dried Indian Turnip, well powdered or beat up..........1/2 ounce, Elder Flower......................2 ounces, Yellow Dock Root..................1 ounce.
340-23 Page 2
8. Reduce this by slow boiling, putting each ingredient into the solution in the order given and stirring each as it is put in. Preferably, the solution should be boiled down in an enamel container, just so the enamel is not cracked or broken. Reduce down to 1 quart. Strain off and then add: Beet Sugar dissolved in 1 ounce distilled water, (hot water, see?)..............1 ounce, Tincture of Stillingia..........1/2 ounce, Tincture of Capsici...............4 minims. Then add 2 and 1/2 ounces grain alcohol (pure grain alcohol, 195 proof).
9. Shake this together before the dose is taken. We would take 3 doses each day; before breakfast, before lunch and before the evening meal. [See 340-31 on 6/21/35 recommending above compound to be taken again. Also subsequently.] [See GD's note in 340-23, Par. R5.]
10. We will find that this will relieve these strains and distresses.
11. It will be found necessary to at all times keep the alimentary canal in such a condition as to prevent recurrent conditions in the colon.
12. We would do that. Ready for questions.
13. (Q) What should be the dosage of the tonic? (A) Teaspoonful in a little water, or plain.
14. (Q) What should the diet be at this time? (A) Beware of too much starches, or too great amount of sugars. To be sure, there must be sufficient carbohydrates and all foods carrying elements that make for building material in system that makes for PURE starch and pure sugars; but not too great quantities. Rather those foods that tend to make for bulk, and that will also provide sufficient replenishing elements for the system. As this: Mornings - orange juice, grape juice, lemon juice; or well that these be altered or alternated from time to time, see? with toast, coddled egg, tea or coffee (small quantity, not too much of same). Between the meals it would be well to take a malted milk or a dried milk with the yolk of an egg in same. There may also be added to this a little spirits frumenti or wine or beer. Noons - preferably green vegetables, or a salad that is very well balanced; or, it may include some cooked vegetables with the green, but these - of course - all cold.
340-23 Page 3
Evenings - whole vegetables well-cooked and well-balanced throughout. Also in the afternoon there might be taken between the meals the same character of drink as in the mornings. Those foods that carry a great deal of gluten are very good. So many of these oftentimes produce acid; but they are very good in some forms, as in gelatin, arrowroot, or things of that nature. This should be the character of food in which most of the sugars taken would be carried, see?
15. (Q) What causes the irritation on eyelids, and what will relieve same? (A) The general nervous condition in the body. As indicated (and as used at times), the manipulations - if properly administered through the neck and through the upper portion of the dorsal - will relieve these conditions, and the irritations will gradually disappear. Nervousness!
16. (Q) The packs following the oil and myrrh massage should be salt or salts? (A) Salt! Heavy salt.
17. (Q) Hot? (A) Hot!
18. That is all the questions.
