1. GC: You will have before you the entity [341], present in this room, his work with the officers and men of the 30th Special Service Company, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, and his application for Officers Training School. Considering his ideals and purposes, the war activities as they hinder the continuation of his work, advise him at this time regarding the advisability of his seeking to enter Officers Training School, the particular branch of service and activity for which he should apply and the best way to secure prompt action on his application. You will answer the questions he submits, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [341], present in this room; together with the ideals and purposes, his associations, and the conditions which exist as a whole regarding the problems that will arise in the Special Service work.
3. In considering this, there are two problems to consider. First, as to how long service will be in any particular branch of the service of Army in Special Service; together with the problems as will arise regarding that Work in which the body is interested and the part it is to play in the reconstruction of the country at this particular period of activity.
4. As we find, the better branch would be in the Personnel of the Army, and for the preparation to be through, or under, General Moore [Maj. Gen. Richard C. Moore, #7 Army War College, 4th & T St., S.W. Washington, D.C.] at the War College; that will give definite line of endeavor, also allow the body-mind to apply those ideals in relationships to activities of individuals that are chosen for the definite services that MUST and will be continued in one form or another when there are the attempts for the making of peace with other lands. For this will come, now, within

a short period. As to the character of individuals chosen for the helpers in various fields, the entity may adapt itself under this special direction in a manner that would be in keeping with ideals, in fitting self for better conditions and for being of greater service both to its country and to its ideals and purposes in the present emergencies.
5. Ready for questions.
6. (Q) Should the change as recommended be accomplished by attempting the Officers Training, or by a transfer from the 30th Special Service Company? (A) There ARE those channels through which it may be had, as a transfer. Then, as for the preparations from or for this Special Service, be directed from the War College, and that would make it much more secure.
7. (Q) Then I should not put in my application for Officers Training while in the 30th Special Service? (A) No harm for this to be put in, but make application through those directed channels as may be had through the relationships with or recommendations by General Moore, that this be sent THROUGH the War College, see?
8. (Q) Would Mr. [257], who has offered his help, be the best one to work through? (A) Be the best one to set these channels or conditions in ORDER, that this be a request from Moore.
9. (Q) What letters of recommendation, if any, should be sent to Gen. Moore? (A) Only when he asks for same. For, there are already connections set up that will receive consideration when this channel is opened. And with the conversation with Moore, THEN there is to be considered that the desire of the body is to prepare self to aid in the SELECTING of individuals in the various posts that are to be filled in other countries.
